Notes:

The Upgrade item is only needed when changing classes from a Base Class to a Promoted Class. To change class from a Trainee Class to a Base Class you need to raise your character to Level 10 and they will automatically change classes once you enter the next battle. You can also use a Master Seal instead of the listed Upgrade item, except in the case of the Lords.

"Cannot use weapons" means unable to use conventional weapons (i.e Sword, Lance, Axe, Bow, Staff, Anima, Light or Dark).

Once you have beaten both Eirika and Ephraim's stories then, in consequent games, all Trainee Classes will have new promotion options shown in the page below:

The class Mage Knight appears twice in the table to stop things looking even more complicated.
