has anyone ever figured out how hard mode stats are generated in this game?

I'm pretty sure the amounts of extra levels with those growths vary not only between modes, but also between chapters, e.g. Camus gets 20 extra levels of enemy Paladin growths in H5, whereas Harmein only gets 14~16 (I don't recall how his stats fluctuate, what I do recall is his Str varying between 14 and 15, compared to 10 in NM) levels. I bet that he gets 15 levels though, because I think each mode increase yields the same amount of extra levels, so it being divisible by 5 makes the most sense in H5 imo.

Also true for several Archers in C6x and maybe some other Gaidens, as well as Larissa. Though I don't think that's important anyway, since Lck doesn't play a big role.

Interesting as well.

Larissa is weird due to how absurdly weak he is: His stats are lower then Hollstadt five chapters back, he has no ranged weapon at all, and despite not moving, his square doesn't even give him any terrain bonuses!

Luck prevents critical, but not as important as the other stats, particularly for a boss.

so does this mean that enemies don't get def or res growths from their extra stats

because i'm pretty sure that's how it works

also i need to figure out the reason why chapter 2 pirates are so much better than chapter 1 pirates. probably chapter 1 pirates only get +5 levels and chapter 2 pirates get +10 levels or something.

Yeah, the Def/Res thing seems to be right, the pirate thing looks realistic too.

Yeah, the earlygame stats overall look pretty inconsistent. Gomer has 9-11 levels worth of HP bonus, 15-17 levels of Str bonus and 20-26 levels of Spd bonus. Idk how his stats can flux up or down besides Spd (11 or 12).

Disclaimer: I didn't hack the following info; I derived it from comparing enemies from different difficulties (mostly normal, H3, and H5)

H5 difficulty bonus levels (not applied to defense and resistance)
Chapter 1-17x: +15
Chapter 18-20: +20
Chapter 20x: +15
Chapter 21: +20
Chapter 22: +20
Chapter 23: +25
Chapter 24: +20
Chapter 24x: +15
Endgame: +25

Several enemies also get bonuses/penalties to base stats. A few enemies apparently use growth rates different than their normal class growths.

Promoted enemies typically get +2-6 HP and +0-2 strength, skill, speed, defense added to their base stats.

Chapter 1 Pirates
HP growth = 50% instead of 90%
Strength growth = 20% instead of 50%
Speed growth = 0% instead of 15%

I did some searching and it appears Vincent posted the bonus levels for all difficulties awhile ago.
http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=19926&p=965456

Mode / Hidden Level ups* / Minimum weapon rank
H1 / 3, 4, 5 / C
H2 / 6, 8, 10 / C
H3 / 9, 12, 15 / B
H4 / 12, 16, 20 / B
H5 / 15, 20, 25 / A

* Early, mid, end-game

I forgot exactly what defines those three parts. I know all the Gaiden chapters use the early-game numbers and I seem to remember that end-game only counts the Gharnef and Medeus chapters.

First bonus: Chapters 1-17 + gaidens
Second bonus: Chapters 18-22 + 24
Third bonus: Chapters 23 + 25

Here's a example of those promoted enemy bonuses that I mentioned earlier:
Bonus stats given to generic enemy paladins (applies to all difficulties)
Chapter 16: HP +6, Str +1, Skl +2, Spd +4, Def +1
Chapter 18: HP +4, Skl +2, Spd +4, Res -1
Chapter 20, 21, 22, 25: HP +4, Skl +2, Spd +4, Def +1
Chapter 17x, 20x: HP +2, Skl +2, Spd +2
(Those +4 speed bonuses are brutal)

Apparently Gazzak uses 40% for his HP growth. I believe Gomer uses 60% for HP growth. And Hyman/Reynard has 0% speed growth since his insane speed is the same on all difficulties.

So, here's the full calculation for the sake of completeness:

HP, Str, Mag, Skl, Spd, Luck:
class stat + character stat + (growth * (level-1 + hard mode bonus))

Def, Res:
class stat + character stat + (growth * level-1)

Nearly all generic promoted enemies (except like a few bishops) have some kind of character bonus. Some unpromoted enemies have them as well (like the fighters in chapter 3 have HP+4).

Bosses use 0 for level-1. Recruitables use 0 for level-1 and hard mode bonus.

If your result is something like 10.2 that means the stat will likely be 10 but will sometimes be 11. It's probably straightforward as 10 = 80% chance, 11 = 20% chance.
