momogeek2141
I recently just started learning to hack FE7, and I was wondering if there was any way to take the frames of already animated characters and edit them myself. Is this possible? And if so, how do you do it? E.g.: Use Dorcas's animation and change the shape of his axe.
sirmola
I recently just started learning to hack FE7, and I was wondering if there was any way to take the frames of already animated characters and edit them myself. Is this possible? And if so, how do you do it? E.g.: Use Dorcas's animation and change the shape of his axe. You would need to rip the animations (or find copies somewhere), make your edits, and then reinsert. It's one of the easier things to hack, as there are utilities that automate the process. THer's also probably a tutorial lying around somewhere. Try looking in the hacking resources subforum.
momogeek2141
Thank you very much, but do you know how exactly to rip the animations?
sirmola
One of these links probably has what you need: http://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_advance/fe8/ http://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_advance/fe7/ http://www.spriters-resource.com/game_boy_advance/fe6/ Just make sure to credit the person who ripped the sheet. If You don't want to credit, or can't find what you want in there(like nergal or zephiel) try UNLZ-gba: http://www.romhacking.net/utilities/362/ , (although this only works for compressed graphics, this kind of sprite usualy is). Also, a big edit or insertion from another fe game may require you to re-script the animation, which is more complicated. Also, my advice isn't really as fe-specific as it could be, so you may want to find a tutorial(i'm sure it's in the ultimate tutorial somewhere). Aleph
there are utilities that automate the process there should be links to these programs (you'll probably want FEditor and GBA Graphics Editor) in one of the pinned threads...I hope
