Do you think it was okay to add Casual Mode?

Of course causal should have been added, it would make no sense not to have it. It's basically an essential part of game development. Not having it would be like a movie made of still pictures.

I support casual mode, though.

Did you really have to restart this all over again in the Awakening forum.

Really.

Did I know there was a Previous Thread about this?

No. I Did Not.

Well, SF isn't letting me vote, but no.

Destroyed a portion of what makes FE special, imo.

On the other hand, it helped get some sales... but I want people to get into what FE actually is, not a watered down version of it.

I'm not a fan of it, and wouldn't play the game that way, but yeah, it was "ok" to add it, since it's an option (i.e I don't have to use it) and there are people who like it.

btw i can't vote on your poll for whatever reason

There are probably dozens of these topics right now on the If boards.

On topic, I like Casual. Having the ability to choose whether or not I lose dead units doesn't hurt me in the slightest, and if it opens the game up to new players that's grand. There are also quite a lot of people who play Casual and just reset if someone dies- there are quite a lot of reasons to do so (being unsure of the difficulty/your skill on a first playthrough, Lunatic(+) earlygame, etc). I don't play it all that often, but it is an important part of the game.

As somebody else mentioned, Awakening is not the first FE game to have Casual mode. And Casual mode is one of the factors that drew in a lot of new players to the franchise. Plus, it's an option -- Classic mode's always there if you want permadeath... or you can always just permanently bench people in Casual to make it feel like Classic mode with less guilt.

Tbh I didn't find it necessary to add casual mode since FE10 intodruced the quick battle save feature. It's still the best feature for newcomrers to try out a turn.

Casual mode misleads several players to play more aggressively and to gamble. Also one trademark of Fire Emblem (that fallen units never come back) is ruined.

PS: I didn't vote, because my option choice would be : Depends on difficulty

It should only exist on lowest difficulty for FE beginners.

Otherwise: No

What you think people should get into is irrelevant with regards to what they enjoy. Casual Mode can be a fucking godsend.

It doesn't hurt to make a quick search before you make a new topic. There has been a gargantuan (as of now) 29 pages long topic in the FEif section on this very subject. But I guess no rules were violated, so eh.

My answer was no, will refrain from elaborating to avoid excessive redundancy.
