I mostly just sketch because I'm a filthy casual, but on the rare occasion that there is an actual, readily finished piece that one can call art, I'll be submitting it here as well ^^; Anyways, for the opening run of the start of the 2014 season... I dunno if you worked from reference or not, but she's holding her sword upside down. The curve of a sword should face away from the body/towards the ground, to make it easier to draw. Right now the blade would be facing in towards her body, leaving her with an awkward draw and the flat end of the sword facing her foe. Hi I like swords Noted~ It wasn't exactly a conventional drawing stance to begin with since the weapon itself isn't a conventional weapon; a nodachi works slightly differently from a katana. I didn't have any references, but I always imagined that it would be better to draw the weight of a nodachi downwards rather than to the side or upwards, to take advantage of the extra weight, and I think the sword is at the right side for that. Although the original intention of the sketch wasn't drawing a blade; it was returning the blade into the sheath ._. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Imagine if it was rolled up to her wrist, instead of falling over her hand. What would her fingers look like? If there's issues with stuff like shading, someone with better eyes can help you!
