It's a good day, today.

Hello, everyone. I never posted in this sub-forum so I'm so sorry if this isn't the best place to make this thread but I wanted to share some of the good news that happened for me today. The mods are free to delete this thread if this in the wrong sub-forum.

My rabbit (named Minnie) gave birth today! Minnie and the babies are fine and the birth went smoothly.

Minnie is a Rhinelander rabbit (mostly black and white but she does have some light brown spots) while the father rabbit is a Rex rabbit (colored blue). We weren't planning on have baby bunnies but the person who sold us the mother, kinda lied to us... We were told that she was male. I know, I know that we should have known better.

We are planning on selling them (once they are older, of course!) since we don't have really have room for them.

Again, sorry if this isn't the right place for this thread.

How many of them there are?

Also are you planning to name them? :o

Minnie had five.

I don't think we will, since we are going to sell them but we might in order to tell which one is which.

Could you post any pictures?

I tired but the pics were either too dark to see anything or the babies would look like pinkish blob. I'll try in a couple days when it's sunny.

Cool, I've never had any rabbits, but I've had a few cat mamas.

I'll also be having a baby (second one!) of my own this November. There's a thread about adventures in pregnancy here.

It is pretty neat. I also have two mama cats (although they already had their babies before they started living with us) as well. To be honest, this isn't the first time that I've had a pet give birth but this is the first time that the babies weren't born in a egg so this is all new for me.

I saw that and congratulations! I hope you and the baby are safe and well, and that you have a safe delivery when the time comes. I always wanted to comment in it so I could say "congratulations" but I always felt I don't know to say (well other then "congratulations" and hoping you and the baby are safe, of course) so I never did.

I've also had a dog that had a litter before we got her, as well as older cats. We lived out in the country, so we became the go-to family for taking in pets when people moved or had to part with theirs. I had a cat that lived to 20, that had a litter or two before we got her.

At this point, I would be surprise if someone didn't know about your pregnancy, Rezzy xD.

I suppose, but being a parent is my biggest accomplishment in life.

My FE OC Jerec would be ecstatic for you lol (he loves rabbits. XD).

But wow, that's crazy that the person who gave you the mom said she was male... Maybe she legitimately made a mistake tho, you never know. But crazy things can happen when you get pets. Especially fish, I think. One time we had two fish have a lot of babies. Most actually got to survive and grow up. But sadly the birth must've been too hard on the mother, because she died soon after. And the dad was trying to save her! He kept nudging her! It was so sweet and sad... :(

Then another time my parents got a fish that gave birth ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE STORE. Christ, that was nuts. Sadly, they couldn't save any of the baby fish that time.

I always thought all fish except sharks laid eggs... But these fish gave live birth. I could tell.

Oh gosh, sorry for not saying/posting anything for past two days. I been sick (but don't worry! I haven't been near the babies after I got sick).

Thanks

No problem at all. I just hope I didn't come off as creepy.

Bunnies! They're so soft and cute once their fur comes in. And I looove Rex rabbits. Congrats to you!

Thank you!

Haha, thanks!

Yeah, the person who gave us the mother did make a mistake (it was her first time selling rabbits and it is little hard to tell which is a girl bunny and boy bunny...) and she did apologized when we first found out the mother was pregnant. She even offered to help pay to fix the mother when she's ready.

I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope the father was okay afterwords.

Ah, I see. That's good to know!

And yeah, the dad fish was fine. He lived quite a long time, in fact, as did the babies that survived.

Haha yeah, well to be fair... It's all our faults (but mostly the father).

That's good! I would think that the fishes would be dead but now (unless these fishes were Koi fish and/or the story was more recent then I thought).

Hello guys, I have bad news, the baby bunnies have all passed away today. I don't know why this happened but it did, I don't think they were attacked or anything and their mother* doesn't have blood on her so I don't think she killed them.

I'm so sorry if I'm not giving a good answer on how this happened. I just don't really know why or how this all happened (they all died within hour of each other). The only thing I can think of is I guess they just weren't as healthy as I thought. As I said on the first post of this thread, this is the first time I've had baby babies so maybe this happens all time and I just know didn't it. I checked every bunny site I could find and looked at every picture they had of how baby bunnies are suppose to look and I really thought they looked fine...

So umm, thank you to anyone that read and/or commented on this thread. I'm sorry this post doesn't make sense, I don't know how I should write this and it doesn't help that my eyes hurt right now. But I thought I should make this post anyway just let people know about this.

(*. For anyone who doesn't know, sometimes mother bunnies will kill and eat their babies. This can happen if you touched/handled their babies, if a baby is born sick or anything similar, the mother is stressed, and so on.)

Sadly, it can happen. It's hard to say why sometimes.

I had a similar experience with a cat of my that had a litter of 4 kittens. They all died after a few days, and so did the mother. It turns out the mother wasn't producing enough milk and one of the kittens had actually been still born, but never came out of the womb, causing problems for the mother cat, and led to her death. Does the mother bunny act sick in any way? If you aren't sure, you may want to take her to the vet, to be on the safe side.

I knew that something would happen (I've been told that something almost always goes wrong with a first litter with rabbits) but I just didn't think it happen with all of them. I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope the mother cat and the babies didn't suffer too much.

My mother just got back from the vet and they said the mother bunny is just fine. The vet thinks that the mother bunny was just too young to be a mother so she didn't know what to do and she just wasn't feeding them anymore due to that.
