Happy Holidays to all on Serenes Forest! Here is an early Christmas gift from me, James, to you, the community.

This is the very first complete hack I have ever made, and I will have to say, it certainly took me a while to complete, considering I wanted it as close to complete as I could get it. Anyway, with all the time I spent on it, including play testing it repeatedly and having a few other people take a shot at it, the game shouldn't break or anything like that.

Right then. The original intent of the hack was to better balance out the characters, so as to make the lesser used units more viable, but all I ended up doing in the end was making the game too easy, even on hard mode(yes, I tested this game on Hard.) To combat this and make the game resemble something challenging, I started to modify the enemies, boosting their growth rates and giving them better equipment. For a while, I was content with my piece of work until I started playing through the maps to find out that the enemies were a little too ridiculous on Hard, so I went back and lowered their growths until I found a combination that wouldn't be as difficult, but would still pose a greater challenge than the original. My final goal was to balance the weapons themselves. I did this by upping their hit rates to that of FE7/8 and giving them more overall uses, then nerfing the shit out of ranged lances/axes and buffing a few other weapons.

Note to players: The hack does come with DTN's translation patch, so don't get your panties in a knot about that. I was not part of the FE6 translation project and I do not pretend I am.

Major Changes Include:

- General Increase in Difficulty.

- Enemies have a lot more variety in weapons, as well as a wider variety of classes.

- Major Hit and/or usage buffs to almost all weapons.

- Major buffs for units that were mediocre to bad in the original(e.g: Wendy and Sophia)

- Divine Relics all now have 50 uses, meaning that you can be a little less stingy with them.

Stuff I'm still working on:

- Making Roy promote earlier.

- Faster supports

Bugs/Things that need Fixing:

- Some ranged staves(e.g.: Physic)are listed as having 1-1 range when they clearly have 1-(Magic/2+5) range

Do you have a changelist of all the changes you made? I'd be curious to see exactly what alterations were made.

like toothache said is there a change list? I would like to see all the major character changes.

On a different note, I seem to be having trouble patching.

Whenever I try patching the rom NUPS says that it's not compatible with the patch.

I was using the correct rom, so I thought that maybe the rom I had wasn't clean. I downloaded more roms from just about every website I could find, but none of them worked.

Yeah, is the base ROM FE6 (J) or the English-patched one (FE6 "(U)")?

The Japanese rom, the one I'm supposed to use.

I literally googled the file he mentioned in the read me, and it patched fine. The one that says Sealed Sword, not Fuin no Tsurugi.

I did the same thing. Still no results.

Update:

Since FEditor doesn't work properly on FE6 without causing glitches, I have a bit of sad news.

- First off, I wanted to add the assassin class to FE6. I really did. Looks like I can't do that, so what I'll do with thieves is boost their caps to match a promoted unit's as well as make them count as a promoted unit so they can use S ranks.

- Concerning new effective weapons: Again, I need FEditor to work properly here, and since it doesn't, I can't insert new sprites to replace others, or once again, EDIT TEXT. Here's the list of weapons I wanted to add:

- Swordslayer

- Heavy Spear

- Zanbato

- DragonPike

- Dragon Axe

- Divine

- Aura

- Luna

- Sonic Sword

Also, to those who are having trouble patching, you need the original Japanese ROM, not any ROM with DTN's translation patch already installed. If you try the latter(and I learned this the hard way), it will not patch properly and tell you to use a different ROM.

I used a Japanese rom and it still wouldn't work.

James, can i just say that this hack is just... Jesus Christ. I'm not angry, but i'm actually quite surprised that high level supports turn even the shittiest units broken. I had Klein obtain a C support with Clarine in C. 11a and his Crit chance skyrocketed to at least 40 with an Iron Bow. I don't know if that was there in the vanilla rom, but it was fascinating to see. Same went for Geese without supports and a Hero Crest promo. 36 chance as a Warrior/ Steel weap. combo.

Was this intentional on your part or am I seeing things?

You aren't seeing things. I gave snipers the +30 critical hit bonus that swordmasters and berserkers have in my patch to give them something over nomad troopers(because nomad troopers have a lot going for them, like mounted movement and the ability to melee.), so Klein has a 37% crit chance at base with a non killer weapon in Normal Mode.

And do you mean Berserker? Because the last time I checked, pirates don't promote to warriors, nor do warriors get a crit bonus.
