Lunatic Pairings, Mage Utilization Issues.

IMO the best children for magical roles are: Brady, Laurent, Morgan, and Owain. And for the most part they will fare well with any of the magical fathers.

Gregor x Miriel = mercenary + dark mage

Donnel x Tharja = ^ same + peg knight

Ricken x Miriel = sorcerer with luna

Libra/Henry x Maribelle = ^ same thing + Galeforce

Avatar works well with anyone even remotely magical. Even someone like Sumia would make a good mother for a magical Morgan. Hell, even Chrom would work.

Well, Owain, given Lissa's modifiers, gets the most out of him with magic units, so giving him Ricken, Libra, or Henry, will work wonders. Ricken has the highest Magic modifier out of all the males, short of Avatar (who we all know is the best father to a child regardless), but Libra and Henry will pass down Sorcerer and are only one point worse in Magic.

Brady likes the variety of classes that Henry gives him, including Sorcerer which is something Brady might want, but Libra can also pass down Sorcerer, if not much else. Ricken passes down his high Magic modifier, but nothing else that is noteworthy.

Laurent will always make a decent mage, thanks to his mother Miriel's high Magic modifier and access to Mage and Sorcerer classes, so you are allowed some leeway in terms of fathers, but Ricken can pass down Luna and his high Magic modifier to make a Laurent with a fantastic high Magic modifier, and a skill that will help in endgame and on higher difficulties. Henry and Libra don't really pass down anything notable here, except utility skills, and in the case of Libra, the Priest skill tree that can give him a recovery skill: Renewal. A Gregor-fathered Laurent can get Sol and Armsthrift, and also pull of a combo of skills in Vantage, Vengeance, and Wrath, while keeping his Magic modifier like his mother. Kellam doesn't give a penalty to his Magic modifier (which will actually make him better at Magic than his mother), and can give him Luna, Pavise, and Renewal, + utility skills from the Thief class tree, as well as a good Defense modifier, though this comes at the cost of some Speed, giving him a Speed modifier of 0. Lon'qu gives him great Skill and Speed in addition to the same Magic modifier as Kellam, and access to the same Vantage/Vengeance/Wrath combo as Gregor, and also access to utility and support skills through the Thief and Wyvern Rider class trees, though this comes at the cost of Defense and Resistance.

Tharja can make use of her high Magic modifier (same as Miriel) to make Noire a decent Sorcerer, no matter what. Gaius and Donnel can pass down Galeforce to her through the Peg. Knight tree, and both can also pass down Sol, Gaius by learning it from the Hero and passing it down, Donnel by proxy of providing Noire with the Mercenary tree. Donnel can pass down the Troubadour tree, and Gaius can pass down the Myrmidon and Thief trees to provide Noire with attack skills like Astra, or utility skills like Locktouch. However, Noire's access to Sorcerer from the start, coupled with a good Magic modifier, means that she can also reap benefits by marrying Tharja to someone other than Gaius or Donnel. Kellam provides her with a slightly better Magic Modifier and a much better Defense modifier, as well as the Tomefaire and Renewal skills through the Priest/Cleric tree, and utility skills through the Thief class tree. Libra gives Noire Tomefaire and Renewal, and a better Magic and Resistance modifier, but not much else. Henry gives Noire a Magic modifier equal to Libra, and also a Defense modifier that is equal to Donnel's, as well as slightly better Speed, as well as Troubadour for another magic option, and Renewal as a skill through the Troubadour's ability to promote to War Cleric. He also gives her utility skills as a Thief, and can pass down a male exclusive skill. Ricken gives Noire a really high Magic modifier, the ability to gain Tomefaire, and the ability to utilize the Aegis/Pavise combo.

Morgan benefits if Avatar is given the Magic asset, or even a Speed asset. Luck or Strength should be made into the Flaw here. From there, Avatar can utilize all the magic mothers and fathers, and boost his (and maybe their spouse's) children to nigh-potential. Here's a rundown on potential wives and husbands (excluding second-gen wives and husbands, as they may vary and we generally agree that they produce the most statistically powerful Morgans), their requirement being a Magic modifier of at least 0 or higher, and all considered to be paired up with +Magic/-Strength Avatar:

Chrom: Ends up with a Morgan (and Lucina) with a +5 in Magic, a +4 in Speed, and slightly better modifiers everywhere else, except Strength and Defense which are both hit with a -1 modifier. Morgan will also end up with the Rightful King Skill. Male Morgan + Lucina.

Lissa: Ends up with a Morgan (and Owain) with an impressive +7 Magic modifier, a +3 Speed modifier, a +4 Res Modifier, and a -4 Strength, -1 Skill, and a -1 Defense modifier. Female Morgan + Owain.

Virion: Produces a Morgan with a +5 in both Magic and Speed, and generally better modifiers than Chrom!Morgan, with the exception of Luck, Strength, and Defense (Luck is unchanged, Strength and Defense have a -2 modifier). Male Morgan.

Miriel: Births a Morgan (and Laurent) with a -4 Strength and a -2 Defense modifier. These are offset with a positive modifier in everything else, with Magic being the highest at +8, and Speed being the second highest at +4. Female Morgan + Laurent.

Sumia: Gives a +5 Magic Modifier, a +6 Speed modifier, and a +4 Resistance modifier to Morgan (and Cynthia) and positive modifiers everywhere else, save for Defense and Strength, which is -2 and -4 respectively. Not bad, but kind of expected, as Sumia's the only early female first-gen character with the option to marry someone else other than the Avatar to have a Stat over the usual +2 modifier, that is not Magic. Female Morgan + Cynthia.

Kellam: Gives -1 Strength and -1 Luck to Morgan, but Magic is a +5 modifier, Defense and Res sit at +3 each, and the rest of the stats get a +1 modifier. Male Morgan.

Lon'qu: Gives a +5 Magic modifier, a +6 Speed modifier, and a +3 Skill modifier to his Morgan. The other stats have generally positive modifiers, save for Defense and Strength which both have a -2 modifier. Male Morgan.

Maribelle: Gives Morgan (and Brady) a whopping -5 Strength modifier, and a -3 Defense modifier, but also a whopping +7 modifier in Magic, a +5 modifier in Resistance, a +4 modifier in Luck, a +3 in Speed, and rounding out with a decent +1 Skill modifier. Female Morgan + Brady

Ricken: A -3 Strength and a -1 Defense modifier are made up for by a +7 Magic modifier, a +3 Speed and Resistance modifier, and a +2 Luck modifier. Male Morgan.

Nowi: Produces a Morgan (and a Nah) with a +6 Magic modifier, a +5 Res modifier, a +3 Defense modifier, and decent modifiers everywhere else save Skill and Strength (-1). Female Morgan + Nah

Libra: Libra!Morgan gets a +6 Magic modifier, a +4 Resistance modifier, a +3 Speed modifier, and a +1 Skill modifier. His only weakness is Strength which has a -2 modifier. Male Morgan.

Tharja: Gives Morgan (and Noire) a whopping +8 Magic modifier, a +4 Speed modifier, and a +3 Res modifier. Also gets a decent +1 Defense modifier. However, Strength and Luck have a -2 modifier, and Skill has a -1 modifier. Female Morgan + Noire.

Anna: Anna!Morgan has +5 Magic, +4 Luck, +3 Speed and Resistance, and a +1 Skill. Strength has a -3 modifier, and Defense has only a -1 Defense modifier. Female Morgan.

Olivia: Morgan (and Inigo) will have these modifiers: -2 Strength, +5 Magic, +1 Skill, +4 Speed, +1 Luck, -1 Defense, and +2 Resistance. Female Morgan. + Inigo.

Cherche: Morgan (and Gerome) will gain +5 Mag, and their other modifiers will be at either +1 or +2, with the exception of Skill, which will be -1. Female Morgan + Gerome.

Henry: -1 Strength and Luck in exchange for a +6 Magic modifier, a +3 Skill modifier, and positive modifiers everywhere else. Male Morgan.

Gangrel: Morgan gets -4 Strength and -1 Defense in exchange for +5 Magic, +6 Speed, and +3 Skill and Resistance. Male Morgan.

Emmeryn: -4 Strength and -2 Defense in exchange for a whopping +9 Magic modifier, +4 Speed, and +4 Resistance. The other stat modifiers are closer to average. Female Morgan.

Aversa: Can give Morgan Shadowgift, which allows her to use dark tomes in any tome-wielding class. As for stats, she has a -3 to Strength and a -1 to Luck, but has a whopping +8 Magic, +4 Speed, and +3 Resistance. Female Morgan.

All of this are of course assuming that you're grinding them all to max stats.
