What is Fire Emblem: Scions of Kings?
Fire Emblem: Scions of Kings is a FE7 ROM hack made by me and a few others. Here is what to expect from the hack:
- custom classes
- new events
- new maps
- custom mugs
- some custom weapon icons
- new music
- CGs (hopefully)

Lengthwise, I'm not 100% sure how many chapters there will be. I'm still planning it out and figuring out if I can reduce the number of chapters without affecting the plot. I know that they will be more than 10 chapters though.

Any feedback, pointing out any errors, and tips on how to improve the hack is greatly appreciated! =)

Plot
According to ancinet texts, three diving beings entered a dark realm. With their powers, they created a world that filled the empty chaos. The youngest of the gods created the Raedan, our ancestors. They grew to love the gods and built many temples in their honour. In time, the Raedan fought each other to win the gods' favour. It led to many wars that have taken the lives of many. Thsi angred the eldest god. He wished to punish them by taking away their free will and burn the world to ash to start anew. Only a sliver of the world remained unscathed by the god's wrath. The gods then disappeared without a trace. 800 years have passed since they have departed from Yedraes...

The story follows the prince of Ibernor, Andros. He sets off on a journey to offer prayers and be blessed at Enki's Shrine of Darkness in order to progress the coronation ritual and officially become the crown prince of Ibernor. He is accompanied by Tobias, his long-time friend and Rai, Lieutenant of the Storm Rider Brigade.

this hack looks like its going to be good

my new hack is still in the idea phase l'm going to add more ideas soon

and in case anyone is wondering l do not have a screenshots so l will have screenshots when l'm off the design phase

This actually looks really good. The plot is solid, the mugs are looking great, and BOW LORD. Yesssss. The world map looks great, sort of reminiscient to the DreamofFive map due to its cartoony style.

Andros looks really cool, nice use of Geitz with the fur on his shoulder, plus the custom animation looks beautiful and holds a lot of continuity to his mug, with the green/blue hair and red cape.

and i'll say it again

Thank you for pointing this out to me. So if I just said that the gods used their powers and created the earth, sea and sky, instead of just listing what they each did individually, would that eliminate the OoT similarity?

Wow, to have my world map compared to Dream of Five is INSANE! Totally made my evening!

I think I'll post a video of the prologue once I tweak out the events so that the scenes flow more smoothly. I just finished working on chapter 1's map and hopefully can get the tile changes to work. Thank you all for your awesome comments and feedback so far. I didn't expect to get this many replies so quickly! =D

I mean like take 3 or 4 well grounded back stories and take a piece from each one and make something out of those pieces

That's what I do (or try to do)

Oh ok. I'm thinking of putting more focus on how Nalani created the creatures. I most likely will delve deeper into the back story as the hack progress, so I might go into more detail there. So for the back story, Nalani would create these beings by using the earth that was created by Enki, use her powers over water to maintain the creatures' forms, and used the air created by Raushan to breathe life into them. Does that sound better?

Malcolm is a bow lord...

also this actually looks sweet. I like that we actually have quality screens. Keep it up holmes!

Thank you! Also, not only is Malcolm a bow lord, he's a freaking demihuman! (I almost wrote demigod instead of demihuman haha) That's always a plus for me.

I'll admit, I'm one of those people who didn't realize Malcolm's a lord. I should have noticed since he's so unique. *facepalm*

Anyway, Here's an update with some screenshots for Chapter 1: Wings of Virtue. =D

I'm still making the final touches for both the prologue chapter and this chapter, like attempting to add CGs or fixing AI so that he actually attacks you when in range and not stand there like an idiot when changing AI from guarding to pursuing. But I thought I'll just post these early so that you guys get a bit of an update on my progress so far.

So I've learned a bit on conditional events. So there's two endings to this chapter. I'm working on inserting music atm. I'm probably going to get all the music that I plan to be in the hack and insert it all at once so I can organize how I use the free space better.

This looks really neat! I'm really digging how some of the portrait sprites have full-custom elements to them, although I'd look out for pillow shading on some of them. They look nice at a glance, though, so I think they need to be touched up rather than redone altogether.

Also, a Bow Lord is nifty. It's a good thing he doesn't seem to start out as the only member of your party, though, 'cause that could... cause issues...

I'd like to see Andros' battle sprites animated, instead of just static screenshots, but I suppose that must wait for the time being. I'm assuming you've got all the animations for him set up? (Attack, critical hit, dodge, unarmed, unarmed dodge)

I'm definitely looking forward to giving this a playthrough when it comes out!

I will second this, you've got some of the neatest little custom ideas on splices I've seen in a while (hats yeah~) but you do need to watch your shading. Specifically in regions like this: 7147d3a581.png

The lines are very thick, and flat, and as said by Starlight, pillow shaded. What that means is that it looks as if you're shading with the lightsource all around the item. You need to pick a side for the light to come from, and shade appropriately. Try to make your lines crisp and thin as well, using the second and third shades to add depth where appropriate. You don't need an excess of third shade, ever. It's definitely used for accenting your color palette.
