Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Clouds of Malice Gameplay Thread

Since everyone submitted their starter let's continue. Other characters can be submitted in the original thread.

Erusea: a Pokemon enters your path and you run into it. The Caterpie turns around and attacks.

Phillipe: Swimming along the river, you find that a group of Scatterbug have dammed the river so that the Spewpa can safely evolve. You have to go around on land. And judging by the angry Scatterbug on the shore, that won't be simple.

Rick: As you float around, you are lunged at by a Ledyba.It does nothing to you. However, it appears to have no intention of letting you alone. How will you deal with it?

[Nym]

''1 month, it's been 1 month that I keep running away from the Shadow Pokémons. I can't stop running, I can't hide in a forest anymore, they'll find me if I do. I've heard of a group who wants to fight them but I don't think I'll be able to fight them. It would probably be wise to find the nearest city, I kinda need something else to eat than berries.''

Nym: You realize that you went in the wrong direction, and now the nearest city is inaccessible. The road ends, and you see that through the forest, there is a plateau.

[Nym]

''If I remember correctly the map that I ''borrowed'' to a Pokemon, the nearest city should be at the end of this road.''

​*At the end of road*

​​''Oh no, I went in the wrong decision, I should probably go back.''

​*Noticed that there a plateau*

​''​But I suppose that a tiny little nap wouldn't hurt me. I'll sleep for maybe 5 mins or 10 min- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.''

Erusea recoils from hitting the Caterpie.Go figure. Of course I charge headlong into an enemy. Oh well. Erusea rears his head and charges at the Caterpie. The Caterpie is thrown backward, stunned, but still rearing to go. "Come at me, bestial fiend!"

Nym: you awaken to find yourself bound within the String Shot of several angry Caterpie.

[Nym]

''*yawn* This was a goooood nap. Now, let's find this city!''

*Noticed there's a Caterpie in front of me*

​​''Oh hello there, little buddy, what are you doing there?... Uhhh? Why can't I move?

​*Noticed the string shot on me along with the other Caterpies*

​"Hey! Why did you use your String Shot on me? Is this a joke? What are you doing? NO, PLEASE, NO. SOMEBODY HELP ME! I'M BEING ATTACK BY CATERPIES, THEY ARE GOING TO EAT ME! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPP MEEEEEEEEEE.''

Well. This appears to be a rather awkward situation. Ah well, nothing for it. Leaping out of the water, I fire a water gun attack at the scatterbug, landing on my feet. I ready my next water gun, and prepare for the inevitable counterattack.

[Shin]

The Ledbya couldn't really do very much to hurt Rick, his ghostly physiology meant that all its attacks simply passed through him. "If there's anything you needed, all you needed to do was say." he mused, bouncing around as he floated. "I think we could be friends, it might even be destiny calling."

Rick continued towards the plateau, allowing the Ledbya to follow him with its relentless attacks. The world certainly was an interesting place, there was all sorts of people for Rick to talk to. The Ledyba hadn't said very much yet, but Rick was certain they'd be together for a while. "If missing all those attacks gets you down, let me know, my spotted friend. I'd hate to see you upset."

He wasn't exactly welcoming, but the Ledbya was the first pokemon Rick had met in a while, it would be a shame to hurt company.

[Moblin Major General]

Erusea: Caterpie does a neutral lunge, doing very little damage, before running away. You hear a loud scream for help.

Nym: The Caterpie continue growling as they grow ever closer to attacking.

Phillipe: Two of the Scatterbugs Tackle, knocking you into a tree. You aren't hurt badly, but you're gonna feel that in the morning.

Rick: The Ledyba's frustration leads it to use Supersonic, confusing you. Content with seeing you move in multiple directions, it decides to leave. It had enough of your insults, regardless of the quality of your musings.

[blah the Prussian]

Phillipe: Two of the Scatterbugs Tackle, knocking you into a tree. You aren't hurt badly, but you're gonna feel that in the morning.

Well, this appears to be harder than I thought. I fire off a new water gun attack at one of the Scatterbugs.

Erusea heard the loud scream and bounded toward the noise. He saw at least 3 or 4 Caterpie prepare to devour what looked like an Eevee. "Hey! Come and get some!"

[Nym]

My cry for help didn't seems to accomplish anything except making the yellow Caterpie, the ''chef'' of the group (for what I have seen from his way to look at the other Caterpies), even angrier. He used String Shot on my mouth to silence me and on my eyes to blind me.

This is over, they are going to eat me.

Father, Mother... I wish I could've known why you both left me alone in this world.

I blacked out but just before that, I think I heared something like: ''...ey...nd...et some!''

As the plateau came into view, my heart raced. My job was reaching it's climax! Normally I'd be doing some general work at the office, but I finally got another field job. One of our couriers was on his way home for a vacation, and we had received a few letters heading in that direction. All I had to do was get the mail to him at this plateau so he could deliver it for us. I'd never seen him in person, but my coworkers could be easily identified by a yellow mark on their left side, similar to the tuft of fur I dyed yellow. I scaled the cliff and began my search.

[Moblin Major General]

Zephyr: As you continue to tread along the path, you see a Scatterbug fly in your direction and hit a tree, unconscious. You see yellow coming off of something, but don't know what.

[PeaceRibbon]

"Scatterbug don't normally fly. What happened to it? Only one way to find out I suppose." After tucking the Scatterbug gently in the tree's shade, I cautiously walked in the direction it flew in from. The yellow could wait, because whatever slung Scatterbug wasn't going to wait for me.

[blah the Prussian]

I see a mysterious creature coming towards me. Upon further investigation, it's an Espurr. It could be an enemy. Then again, it doesn't seem like it would naturally inhabit this forest; it could be a civilized Pokemon. I decide to give it the benefit of doubt. "Halt!" I yell. "Are you friend, or foe?"

[PeaceRibbon]

A sudden yell causes me to freeze, and look around. I saw a Piplup next to a Scatterbug and figured it came from them.

"I was searching for someone when a Scatterbug flew through the air... is there something amiss right now?"

I knew since I wasn't sure which one to trust, a passive comment at first would be sage.

Scatterbugs: Before anyone van react, the other Scatterbug lunges at you both, barely missing you.

Caterpie: After an exhausting fight, Erusea unties the Eevee, loading him onto his back, unconscious. "I want to know how one so young got into this mess."

[Nym]

I opened my eyes just for trying to see who came to help me for defeating these Caterpies...

...but there were no one around. No Caterpies, no other pokémon, just me.

''Maybe they were just a nightmare.''

I strech my paws but then, I hear someone calling my name

''Nym... turn around.''

I turn around and who do I see? A Espeon and a Umbreon, both looking at me with a neutral face. I know immediately who they are.

''Mother! Father!''

I quickly run towards my parents, I wanted a hug and explanations so badly so I literally jump to them but my father also jump and knock me back into the ground.

My forced landing hurted me a lot, I look at him with a worried face and said: ''Father?''

He responded: ''If you want something in life, Nym, you'll need to earn it first!''

I wasn't sure about this, I mean, this is my father and my mother, right? But I had no time for questions, I get up and I use Quick attack and run towards my father. With full speed, my head got in contact with his chest. I landed just below him.

He didn't really flinch but he's a Umbreon after all but strangely enough, he's now smiling at me. I quicky glance at my mother, she's smiling too.

''Do you see now?'', my father asked.

''See what?'', I asked him back.

''You can fight, my son, you are not weak, you are not the type of pokémon to hide behind someone else, I understand that you were surprised because of these Caterpies but you could've set yourself free by yourself.''

''Wait, do you mean that was real?.'', I asked to my father.

Neither my parents responded, my mother only closed her eye and everything went white.

I woke up, I was on someone's back.

The Eevee continuously mumbled as he went from unconsciousness to sleep. Erusea couldn't help but feel that he led nothing short of a pitiable existence. He continued to roll around, struggling to stay on Erusea's back. Erusea hears its heavy gasping, indicative of waking. "So, you're up, are you? I suppose that's good. Fortunately, you don't seem to have any cuts or broken bones. If you did, my rescue would've been that much more dangerous for the both of us. What are you even doing here?" Erusea waited for the Eevee's reply.

My savior is a Nidoran male, for what I see, he doesn't have a scratch or a wound and me neither. I think Father was right, I could've fight them instead of being a coward and ask for help...

The Nidoran asked me what I was doing here.

''I... because... uhh...''

I was always this shy, specially around scary looking pokémon or females. But he deserves an answer...

''I... was going for the nearest city but I-I... couldn't carry the map... that I had so... I tried to memorize as much as possible but when I arrive in the forest, I... went in the wrong... direction. Then, I-I... uhh... found the plateau and I was so tired so I decided to take a tiny nap but when I woke up... the Caterpies already had me all tied up. Ah... uhh... t-thanks for the help... thank you.''

"No time for pleasantries!" I yell. "We fight back to back! You know that, don't you?" I prepare a Water Gun at the same time. My father made me study the campaigns of many great military leaders, like Hannibal Beartica, Napoleon Cuboneaparte, and Genghis Kanghaskhan. I only hope I picked something up from that as I ready for battle.

Erusea felt bad for being so demeaning to the Eevee. "What is your name, kid? I never really asked it, but maybe now I should. We're about three quarters of the way there, so it should be generally safe for us." At the same time, Erusea had many thoughts going around in his head.I wouldn't be surprised if this Eevee was little older than a hatchling. He seems so lost in the world, and doesn't really seem to be able to defend himself all that well. I remember that time, but that was long ago. He can't survive out here, not without aegis.

[Nym]

He asked for my name, telling him wouldn't hurt... I think.

''My name is uh... Nym.''

Right after I said that, my stomach started to gurgle. ''That's right, I didn't eat since I arrive in this forest.'', I said to myself.

I look around, and luckily, just beside us, there's a big tree with berries on the highest branches. I take a running start and make a big jump on the bark. With the momentum, I can hold on very easily on it. Then, I jump again on the lowest branch with using my tail for my balance and quickly jump to branch to branch until I arrive to the highest ones. I sit down and pick one berry with my paws while I use my tail for making that I don't fall off the branch and I can finally eat, my well deserved snack.

I quickly glance to the Nidoran male, I can see the astonishement and surprise on his face.

To his alarm, Nym bounded off of Erusea's back up the berry bush and got some of the top berries. Erusea then realized that he too had eaten little as of late. Instead of climbing, however, he rammed into an Apple tree, causing no less than 3 or 4 Apples to fall. "Here. These are more filling, although I will note that Berries have other useful qualities." Erusea ate one, and then proceeded to put the others away. "I can make you an Adventure Pouch to carry those, if you want." Erusea had seen just how underprepared Nym was.
