Got this message when I tried to store something but I didn't have any items.

Other than that, the translation is awesome! Good work.

I can't see the image but I know what you mean. It was already fixed. Edited by Quirino

Yeah, I accidentaly deleted the image because ImageShack said I had uploaded it twice. So, sorry.

But anyway, thanks for the quick response and fix :P

I was just watching one of the youtube vids... would it be possible to change "<item> drop" to "<item>" dropped when you throw away something?

Also, maybe "<item> away" should be "<item> stored."

By the way, has there been any progress with the playtesting? I'm really eager for this patch to be finalized. I could probably do some on my PSP when I'm not busy, but I'd need the latest beta. The one I have right now is the one where it says "<enemy> died!" Is that current enough?

EDIT: Uh... is this project still active?

Sorry for not replying, never noticed your message. Don't know why...

I've had those space issues with <item> drop/<item> away. And when I chose <item> away, it doesn't get stored, but dropped. I've once changed that to <item> drop, then later got the same message and thought I hadn't translated it yet and chose for <item> away that time. Don't know why the game has two lines for the same action, but now they are both <item> Away.

And the patch with <enemy> died! is not the most current, the latest beta should say <unit> died and <enemy> killed.

Besides that version I also released the newest version (check http://quirino.cz.cc for the link), however, it might be an unstable version. This one is with repointered text and I haven't had time to check all the repointed code (which is basically every house), at one house in chapter 2 I made the game reset somehow. I had to replace that whole text to made that effect disappear, so it might be possible that happens at more houses. Therefore I would like you to test if all the house dialogue works well, I recommend to save a state before visiting a house.

I tried dealing with the game resetting when visiting some houses but I can't fix them all. It seems some space in the rom is bugged and I just haven't got enough space to fit it all in. Therefore I decided to just drop this thing. I will apply the changed made in 0.9.1 to 0.9.04 except the repointed text. That will probably be the final version of the patch.

Sorry for the triple post, but here it is: the final version of this game. Figured I should bring it out before Rai does or this translation would never be played!

Except for maybe some little grammar mistakes the game should be completely translated.

Download the patch (zip file) at http://quirino.x10.mx/FE1.zip

Enjoy it!

edit: By the way, thanks for the sticky!

I'm still here :) You can PM me the bugs.

Meh, I'm bored since I finished this project, wish there was another NES Fire Emblem game for me to translate :D Maybe I'll translate whatever little text is in BS Fire Emblem.

If you're still here, please reply to my PMs! I'm at Ch. 9 now and I've noted a few very important bugs! Here they are, for your convenience:

1. When an allied unit defeats an enemy unit during the allied turn, there's an extra space in the battle text. The player has to press the A button TWICE before the EXP bar comes up. In every other combat exchange, the player only needs to press A once. This problem isn't present in the original Japanese rom--I checked. This makes combat less streamlined, so I'd appreciate it if you could look into this.

NOTE: This problem mysteriously stops happening later in the game. It's still annoying early on, though.

2. The house in chapter 2 still refers to priests instead of clerics when it explains cleric experience gain.

3. The dialogue for the village where you get the Devil Axe is kinda funky and incomplete. I understand the space issues, but it would be nice if that could be fixed.

4. When I visit Lalabel's shop in Port Warren, the music doesn't change. Is it supposed to? Also, after leaving the shop, the map music restarts. I think there may be a problem. (I haven't tried this with the weapons shops yet.)

EDIT: I tested it in the Japanese rom. There IS music missing! There should be a different song playing in the item shop. This glitch happens in both item shops, but not in the armories or the arena. Please fix it. It's a nice song.

5. The "vulnerary" is accidentally spelled "vulnenary."

I've decided to avoid style and grammar changes. It would be nice if items 1, 4, and 5 could be fixed. 2 and 3 aren't exactly urgent, but 2 is relevant to gameplay.

Thanks!

There's a lot of other Famicom games which deserve a translation! And other systems too... Hanjuku Hero is a strategy-RPG by Square which began on the Famicom, and I think has had a game on the SNES, PS1, DS, and a few other systems. It's a good series. But I can't find any footage of the Famicom version... maybe try that game?

Every PM I get from you I respond to. I haven't received any PMs from you since February 24th.

1. Can you explain it a bit more, I don't fully understand what you mean.

2. I'll fix it in the next patch

3. How would you like to see the text then?

4. This happens at none of the item shops and I don't know how to hack music. Sorry.

5. I'll fix it in the next patch

Thanks for bug testing :)

1. You have to press A twice after defeating an enemy unit. Normally you only have to press it once.

EDIT: For some reason, this has stopped happening. No longer a problem.

2, Thanks.

3. Never mind, it works well enough.

4. It happens at Lalabel's. Check it.

EDIT: Do you have a save file at chapter 8? I can test it more then.

5. Thanks.

EDIT: I tested the music for Lalabel's shop in chapter 10. Just like before, it doesn't start. The same thing happens in Port Warren. My best guess is that there's something wrong with a pointer or something. Maybe some of your text pointer hacking caused a problem for when the music starts up? Please check again. Go to chapter 10 or chapter 8 and try to enter Lalabel's shop. That's the one that sells potions, magic, and the like. This is NOT a minor issue. It NEEDS to be fixed!

I know what shop you mean. Are you sure there also is music in the Japanese version? I will look at it anyway. Thanks for testing.

Yes, I tested it with my save in the translated and untranslated versions. The music plays in the Japanese version, but it doesn't play in the translation. Thank you for obliging me.

If it's possible, could you please send me a save file of chapter 8 or 10? I'd like to rule out the possibility of a faulty emulator. I was testing on a PSP, so it could be a problem that only happens on there.

EDIT: While I'm reporting these things, here's something that's been bugging me. The title of chapter ten is "Sire Minerva." I can understand why you did this, since "princess" would take up too much room, but it sounds kind of awkward to me. How about "Lady Minerva?" It's a bit more ambiguous, but I don't think that will be a problem, considering that it's already been established that Minerva's the princess of Macedonia.

EDIT EDIT: Quirino, the thought occurred to me that the problem may be with the version of the ROM I'm using. I'm going to see if this glitch happens in the non-a1 version. If it turns out not to be a problem there, I'll tell you so that you can inform people on readmes and such. UPDATE: I just tested it. The version of the rom you use doesn't make a difference.

Sorry for the double post, but I needed to get Quirino's attention.

Quirino, what still needs to be done before the next version of the patch is released? Do you need comments on all the chapters? I've been doing testing, but I'm quite busy these days. Is anyone else testing the game?

Alright. Thanks for letting me know. I want to know what I can do to help with the process.

I'm still at Chapter 10, but there are no real problems so far. I keep getting raped by those Dragon Knights. <img src='http://serenesforest.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Use Gordon/Kashim for those. Anyway, the issues you pointed are all fixed (including the music at item shops). I won't bring out the update yet, I'll do that after all found bugs are fixed.

Thanks. Also, check your personal conversations. I've finished chapter 11 now, and I found a few more bugs, including one that interferes with gameplayDISREGARD THAT! Please check it out.

By the way, Kashim is dead, George is level 3, and Wolf and Zagaro are both dead. :( I'm using George right now, but I'll probably switch to Thomas in the near future. I'm not doing so well with bowmen...

EDIT:

Quirino, please ignore my PMs. Here are the bugs I've found.

1. When I use the Goddess Ring, the dialogue reads "[Character] used the [Ring]Goddess," and then the rest is gibberish. There's some kind of problem with the text. I was confused for a bit, thinking the Goddess Ring was a promotion item. I guess it's not.

2. When the boss of chapter 12 attacks you, he says a bit of dialogue. All of it is garbled, like with the Goddess Ring.

3. When the clerics next to the chapter 12 boss heal him, the text announcing the healing is garbled.

There are actually no problems with gameplay at all. Sorry for the false alarm!

The link is broken, would you mind fixing it or do we have to wait for next release?

I don't think it's supposed to be like that. Quirino will probably post the 1.0 patch again. The next release is coming as soon as I finish my playthrough and testing.

On that note, Quirino, you should take a look at your PMs. I've notified you of a few more glitches. Again, the stat boost items are the cause of most of them.
