So, since we couldn't really come to any conclusions aside from "general showcase" and "optional competition" in the other topic, I thought we might as well just get this thing started, and let people submit however, whenever, and pretty much whatever.

---------------------------------------

ABOUT

It's Octoberween, and pumpkins, black cats, and spooky skeletons abound in every store and social network in preparation for the biggest, creepiest night of unabashed costume-wearing of the year (or so I'm told). That being said, in the spirit of the season, you have all been invited to participate in this little Halloween event.

How?

Simple: in any way you can.

Dress up your avatars, make themed battle sprites and maps, arrange music, make art - just about anything and everything at all.

You can even work together with other members and collaborate on a single piece.

This event is completely open to all members to contribute to, regardless of proficiency.

If you feel like making something, by all means, please do! We'd love to see your stuff.

All contributions will be arranged in a public showcase at the end of the event.

---

CONTEST (optional)

The annual Halloween Costume Contest is still available for participation, for those of you with a slightly more competitive edge.

The contest will be conducted in a similar fashion to previous events, and will include the usual voting categories: Scariest, Most Realistic, Best Constructed, Sexiest, and Personal Favorite.

Contest entries must be new work and cannot be collaborated on.

If you wish to participate in the contest, please state so and include a link to the original base mug along with your entry.

All entries will be automatically included into the showcase event.

---

DATES

Showcase entries will be accepted until Thursday, October 30.

Contest entries will be accepted until Sunday, October 26, to allow time for voting.

All entries will be arranged into a showcase gallery for collective public viewing by Friday, October 31.

Happy haunting~

Maybe Halloween itself? Idk...

DATES

Showcase entries will be accepted until Thursday, October 30.

All entries will be arranged into a showcase gallery for collective public viewing by Friday, October 31.

Halloween is practically the existent date for the showcase.

And, is the contest just for the mugs or can other things be judged?

The contest is mugs only, and is conducted in the same manner as all previous Halloween contests.

Can do!

Cerai had been so involved in that dart game that she lost her kids. Those little shits needed to dress up as ninjas this year, because they just up and disappeared, just like that ancient clan tended to do.

She wasn’t panicking, but...a six year old and a three year old could run into a lot of trouble by themselves in a crowded harvest festival. Her and Leo often wandered when they were kids...but they had been at least ten. Naroc and Ciara were still too young for stuff like that. Especially Ciara.

“Boyd!” She spotted her husband at the snack vendor, and ran over and tapped his shoulder. “We have a dilemma here!”

“You ran out of cash for the dart game?”

“No. Well, yes, but that’s not it. Have you seen the kids?”

“I thought they were with you.”

“Do they look like they’re with me?!”

Boyd took a bite out of his cotton candy and smirked slightly. “Those little ninjas...well, at least we know what they’re going trick or treating as this year.” Cerai was giving him the stinkeye. “What do you expect me to do? Run around like a chicken with its head cut off screaming at the top of my lungs?”

“I expect you to show more concern that your children are missing.”

“I’m sure they’re not missing. Hell, when I was six, I spent almost entire days in the streets and didn’t come home until it got dark sometimes...but I had Oscar with me. And not when I was three. I guess this is a problem.”

“You think?” Cerai rolled her eyes. “Now come on! We have to look for them!”

“Guys!” Leo ran up, with Samba trailing behind him. “You’re never going to believe this!”

“Does it have anything to do with Naroc and Ciara going poof begone all of a sudden?” Cerai paused, then raised one eyebrow. “...Where’s Milo?”

Leo nodded. “Yes, and Milo’s in on this little...excursion, too. The three of them were talking to some purple haired kid. Next thing I know, she had them convinced that going into the woods to some haunted house was a good idea!”

“The girl looked...eleven? Twelve? I’m not the best at telling beorc ages.” Samba’s tail was puffed out like a bottle brush. “She didn’t seem like a bad kid, but...”

“And you didn’t chase them down? Or do anything?” Cerai clenched her hands into fists. “There are reports of bandits in those woods!”

“That’s exactly why I came and got you! If there are bandits, there’ll probably be more than just one wyvern lord and one cat can handle. See what I’m saying?”

Cerai’s mouth hung open for a second. “...You’re right. I would say bring all the Greil Mercenaries, but...I don’t think there’s time to go to their base and back, even if I fly. We’ll have to make do with who we have, thank gods Darcen’s nearby. His magic is always a lifesaver.”

“Plus, last I heard of Ike, Kael’s had a nasty sinus infection for like half a week. He’d want to help, but he’d be worried sick about his own kid too. It’s better not to get him involved.”

Cerai nodded. “Boyd, that’s the smartest thing you’ve said in awhile.”

“...Thanks?”

“As much as I think Ike would be a tremendous help, the green beorc has a point.” Samba’s ears twitched. “Now...I can probably track their scent, no problem. Somebody go get our shaman friend, while I...” He dropped to his hands and knees, and seconds later, a gray tabby cat the size of a man was addressing the trio of humans. “Try to filter out the right scent to follow.”

When Leo returned with Darcen, the shaman had a frown on his face. “I almost had a bingo...can’t these kids find anything better to do than putting themselves in major danger?”

Leo smirked. “Come on...I can tell you’re more bummed about having to say bye to that girl you were with.”

Boyd snorted at that. “Sounds like Mister Shadow Blaster’s considering having kids of his own!”

Darcen’s face turned red. “I was just talking to her, dangit! And you know how much I hate that nickname!”

“We can discuss whether or not that was courtship later! I’ve got their scent! Move it or lose it!”

Cerai and Leo mounted their wyverns and followed close to the ground as Samba led the way.

Something almost collided with Cerai. “Hey!” She grabbed her lance and shook it at the retreating red figure. “Yeah, you better fly away! I had the right away, asshole!”

Leo flew closer to his sister. “I just noticed something. We’re following that asshole now.”

“Oh, geez. You think it might be that girl’s parent?”

“Possibly...”

But whatever or whoever it was, it turned and went in another direction before Samba stopped in front of an old, apparently abandoned, fort. He unsheathed his claws. “Well, I don’t smell any bandits...but that doesn’t mean they can’t still be around.”

“Can you sense anything unnatural?” Boyd asked.

Samba shrugged. “Define unnatural.”

“Ghosts. Zombies. Stuff like that. This IS supposed to be haunted.”

“Um, I think a laguz’s keen sense of smell only works on things that are living.”

Boyd elbowed Darcen in the stomach. “Yeah, but a zombie would probably stink even more than bandits. Dunno about a ghost though...”

“Okay, so...” Leo fidgeted. “Who’s going in first?”

Boyd raised his axe. “I will. Cover me...” And then he pushed open the door. It sounded like the hinges hadn’t been oiled for decades.

Darcen tapped the eldark tome he was holding with his fingers, shuddering. “The old legends say light magic works well against the undead...let’s hope that doesn’t mean dark magic is useless.”

Cerai rolled her eyes. “You honestly believe there’s zombies here?”

Something that looked like a skeleton dropped from the ceiling and landed on Boyd as he walked in. He yelled, threw it off, and struck at it with his axe. A magic blast from Darcen caused the skeleton to explode into a cloud of sawdust.

“Wait, sawdust?” Leo blinked. “That thing was made of wood!”

“You expected props to be made out of potatoes?” A voice came from above. The missing children came out from behind the pillars of the structure. Naroc was grinning and laughing. “Dad, you screamed like a girl.”

“All right. Explain what’s going on here!” Cerai glared at the children, then turned her attention to the ceiling. A red dragon was perched in the rafters.

Samba noticed the dragon too. He curled his tail in amusement. “Rannoc, you crazy scaley prankster! How’s it been?”

“Wait, Rannoc?” Cerai looked at Samba, then the dragon, who was swooping down and landing. The dragon glowed for a few seconds as he switched forms. Sure enough, he was the group’s dragon laguz friend. He didn’t look any older than he was when they last saw him, even though it had been ten years. But this was expected, laguz aged slower than beorc, especially dragons.

“These kids are your kin, huh?” Rannoc smiled. “Small world...” He nodded toward Leo. “I’m surprised you haven’t had any little rugrats yet. Your sister has three!”

“No, she doesn’t.” Leo beckoned Milo over to his side. “This one’s mine. See? He’s got a birthmark too, only in a different place.” The smaller boy indeed had a splotch of a darker skin tone on his cheek, while his father had one under his eye.

“Oh I see. My bad.”

Ciara ran around with her arms outstretched, pretending to fly. “Best Halloween party thing ever! Can I be a dragon laguz this year?”

Naroc gave her a dirty look. “I thought we were both gonna be pirates!”

That made Cerai and Leo both chuckle. They had gone as pirates once and stole candy from the younger kids. They both knew it wouldn’t be wise to tell that story.

“No.” Boyd had recovered from his brief scare. “You two are going as ninjas. You already have the disappearing figured out.”

There was a brief, awkward silence. “...Sorry.” Rannoc frowned.

The purple haired girl stepped forward. “Well, it was fun hearing that big axe fighter scream that loud, but I’m supposed to be back at my parents’ market stall soon...”

“Why don’t we all go back? Cause there’s more food there.” Samba shifted back into his human form.

“Apology accepted.” Cerai walked over and cuffed Rannoc over the head. “You had me fooled for a little, I admit...”

“Yeah, and they should be starting another bingo game soon.”

Rannoc grinned at Darcen’s comment. “Oh, they have bingo? Awesome! Count me in!”

The old abandoned fort was abandoned again.

All OCs except Kael are mine.

Just to clarify, Kael belongs to me, and yes, I don't mind that Dragoncat used him at all, especially since it was just a single mention (even though she never asked... lol).

I would've entered this, but...I didn't have any ideas, plus I was busy with a bunch of other things this month. xP

I would've asked, but yeah, it's only a brief mention. I knew you'd be okay with it. Let's just hope the poor thing gets better in time to join in the holiday fun xD I had to have a reason they didn't run and get Ike...

And I figured most people here know us by now. We throw ideas back and forth and all...so, I figured it'd be known that he's yours.

Yeah, and you thought right that I'd be okay with it. I'm rarely not okay with how someone else uses my characters really, though for bigger things, I do require that someone asks me for permission. But you were just making one little mention, so yeah. :P
