Best DLC maps?/Which maps are worth it?

Recommended Posts

So, I'm currently deciding which dlc maps to get. I calculated everything and damn if I want to get them all that would be pretty pricey, like 47 something dollars pricey, which is more than the price of the game itself.

Scramble pack is something that I will definitely grab because of the fan service but what about the rest? I'm talking about story wise, which ones are the most interesting?

I would appreciate it if someone could make a list of that!

I also want to know which ones to get reward wise. (again, a list would be really appreciated!)

tl;dr can someone make me lists of best > worst dlc maps in terms of story-wise and reward-wise respectively?

Japanese DLC was double the game itself due to the lack of discounted packs... and I had to buy it for 2 3DSs.

Storywise?

Future of Despair Maps. (Future Past)

Arguably, it has a better ending than the actual game itself.

Other than that, the other maps don't have "story" worth caring about.

The Challenge map packs (Border between Life and Death/Death's Embrace, Labyrinth Pursuit/Roster Rescue, etc.) have story that is... different from the fanservice Legacy Character DLCs, but those are literally postgame content that you more than likely need to grind for. And... that's really it... it's a challenge map set to pit your strongest units against the gimmicks.

Rewardwise? The Grinding DLCs for EXP, Money, and Legendary Weapons. Eirika's Bride Class Map, Alm's Dread Fighter Class Map, Seliph's Paragon Map (which also doubles as your grinding map after EXPonential Growth has become useless due to high internal levels... only possibly applicable to Lunatic Mode Internal Level caps), and finally Ike's Limit Breaker Map.

Other than those... Lyn's Iote's Shield skill seems... unneeded in your situation.

Future Past DLC - Because the story and the Child-Parents conversations

Lost Bloodlines 2 - Dread Scroll

Smash Brethren 2 - Weeding Bouquet

Infinite Regalia - Silver Card!!

Err I don't know, Rogues and Redeemers 3 if you want Limit Breaker...

I'd get the Golden Pack, the Future of Despair Pack, Scramble Pack, Lost Bloodlines 2 and 3, Rogues and Redeemers 3, and Smash Brethern 2 and 3. The rest are meh.

Wow! thanks for the fast replies guys! (considering its almost midnight!)

I just checked what silver card does and do I really need it? When I was playing in normal mode, I had like surplus of 100k gold just laying around lol. I'm currently playing in hard mode though, still at chapter 9 and I admit that I sorta need cash badly, will I get the same surplus of cash here like I did in normal mode?

I wanted to get future past before but I have stupidly spoiled myself by watching the videos in YouTube sob so I'm not sure anymore.

If you guys have to choose between Lost Bloodlines Pack, Smash Pack, and Rogues Pack. Which one will you get? Is it better to just get one map, like just LB 2 for example or just grab the pack for the hell of it? Is the dread scroll/boquet/limitbreak the only thing that is good or are the maps themselves entertaining?

@shadowofchaos ; Whoa, so you spent like almost or over 200$ for them rofl (2 FEAs and double the DLCs) What made you purchase them like that?

I accidentally stumbled upon Roster Rescue's wiki article and I think the story is pretty funny, I'm thinking of getting it as well. Should I get the Challenge Pack instead? Or are Death Embrace and Five Anna Firefight not as good as Roster Rescue?

Sorry for bombarding you guys with all these questions. I just want to be absolutely sure.

The Challenge Pack as a whole will definitely keep you on your toes, if you're interested. Death's Embrace has a very nice story behind it, while Five Anna Firefight is less-story based, yet certainly difficult as it's basically an escort/rescue mission. I'd personally get the pack - that's the next set I'm buying.

And Apotheosis is all kinds of fun, but warning: if you haven't seen/played Lunatic+, you're going to be IN for it.

Cash isn't quite as easy in Hard or Lunatic but it still isn't horrible. Your call.

Of the early sets,I liked the Lost Bloodlines pack best because I'm a huge FE4 fan, but aside from that I don't think any of the Series 1 character maps (so, Champions of Yore, Lost Bloodlines, Smash Brethren, Rogues and Redeemers) are that great content-wise. The first maps in each series (plus Rogues and Redeemers 2 and Champions of Yore 2) are honestly completely skippable unless you really want them or you want the better deal for grabbing the pack.

Aside from that though, I definitely want to add the the people recommending The Future Past. Easily my favorite DLC set. Challenge pack is pretty neat too.

I've been careful not to over-spend on DLC and the ones I've enjoyed most are The Future Past and Scramble (the latter which you're already considering).

Even if you know some of The Future Past's story, you should still get it just for the parent-child conversations and the stuff you haven't seen.

As others have mentioned, you should also grab the two DLCs that offer new classes. Limit Break is nice too, but not really necessary unless you're struggling with Lunatic or something or you're planning to challenge Apotheosis.

The Golden Pack is fantastic for grinding, but not really necessary unless you're playing on Lunatic.

You can get gold without The Golden Gaffe, but it's much quicker with it (so you can do stuff like mass hiring SpotPass teams for Renown more efficiently). EXPonential Growth is only really good for low to mid-level experience and its fairly useless in Lunatic.

Silver Card is pretty much useless (esp. if you have The Golden Gaffe) and you can eventually obtain every legendary without paying for DLC (although two of them require Double Duel and you won't be able to get duplicates otherwise).

but it was still easy for me....

OP buy only Apotheosis and try it, no Limit Breaker/Rally Heart/Aggressor/DLC classes

but it's all about getting multiple copies of legendaries

(why does it sound like we're talking about Pokemon)

Future Past is excellent storywise.

EXPonential Growth for early game XP (If you choose to grind)

Golden Gaffe to be rich.

You can get Infinite Regalia, if you want.

Smash Brethren 2, Lost Bloodlines 2, Rogues and Redeemers 3, and possibly Lost Bloodlines 3 for DLC classes, Limit Breaker, and paragon.

Apotheosis for challenges.

So, essentially, what everyone else said.

Apotheosis is nice, just for a challenge.

All you really get is another Einherjar Card (from the normal path).

you should get Lost Bloodlines 3, Smash Brethren 3 and Rogues & Redeemers 3.

maybe Lost Bloodlines & Smash Brethren 2 for extra classes.
