I completely understand where you're coming from, same basic thing happened to me with Soleil, luckily I had a battle save from a long time ago that allowed me to not start all the way over. But as Deviddo said most of the time a Dead Green Unit isn't going to be recruited... As for the support dialogues, I don't think you can get them with a transfer unit.
