How many characters in a hack

I'd say your best bet would be to count up the recruitable characters in official Fire Emblem games, compare that to the number of chapters, and then kinda scale it to get an idea for roughly how many characters you should put in your own hack.

If you want my estimate, if your hack is going to be 24~26 chapters long, then probably somewhere in the 28~35 range would be a good number of recruitable party members. Of course, it's your hack, so it's your call.

Do be aware that the GBA Fire Emblem games only support up to 51 characters recruited at any given time, though! Any more, and things start getting kinda glitchy and characters start getting erased and overwritten and stuff. I don't really imagine you're likely to be pushing up against this limit, but it's definitely something to keep in mind.

Is that so? I recall reading a topic about somebody who tried to recruit too many characters at once through hacking/cheat codes/something or other and ended up with the characters at the bottom of their overall roster getting entirely overwritten/dropped from memory or something.

If the total recruited character limit isn't 51, as I've been led to believe, would you mind sharing what the actual number is, if you know it? I'm curious to know.

Huh looks like it's different for each game. The deployment limit is 50/51?for each game but FE6 has 58 recruitable units, FE7 has a limit of 50, and FE8 has a limit of 62.

fe8 comes out on top once again
