It would seem to me that you can "necro" your own threads, rather than making a new one. Key word is your, meaning, mine.

Well, I am pretty sure that you can necro your own art/story topics. Not sure about others though.

What is the topic in question? It depends on how long it's been "dead" and what is posted to necro it.

Its a topic about Chrono Cross I made. Its been dead since mid-January. I necroed it by saying that the music score is great from what I've heard so far, barring Lizard Rock.

Based on the way the rule is written, you can legally necropost in any topic, provided that the content of the post is deemed to be contributing enough to the thread to keep the thread alive.
While I feel that you could have added a bit more detail to the post to at least explain your comment further, I don't see why we would need to close the thread.
