Not really.

But it makes a person look.. I don't know, makes them seem like they're trying really hard to be 'cool'.

That's not my intention. I only do it because I can use the reflection to see that I'm actually taking a picture of myself, and not of whatever is behind me.

But as you said, it's just your opinion.

That's right, I guess the mirroring when shooting a photo isn't too bad, at least it's better than getting your cam/cell with one arm visible that you're doing so.
