It occurred to me that for Fire Emblem fans not to crucify this game with big blunt rusty nails shaped like... Oops... Apologies to Zero Punctuation for stealing that line... Marth should probably get promoted in this game.

Now, I only know that Marth isn't level 1 in chapter 1 of this game; I don't know what level he IS... but if he's significantly higher than level 1 in chapter 1, it stands to reason that he might promote fairly early... like, say, when he gets the Fire Emblem.

Now, I realize that it's quite early, but if the Fire Emblem turns out to be Marth's promotion item, I called it...

As long as Marth can promote, I'll be happy.

Getting the Fire Emblem is way too early for a promotion event. He gets it in, like, Chapter 6.

Besides when Marth is fighting that Mamkute it looks like a pretty late chapter and it doesn't look like he's promoted (unless they did a Roy and gave his promoted class the same battle sprite).

If it's not the Fire Emblem, it'll be some tide-turning event, or him meeting some kind of noble or something... I'm not sure because I haven't played FE1 or FE3 (only read the manga) but Ike promotes when he goes into Begnion in FE9 IIRC.

If he promotes, I'll *probably* be happy, so that's that.

I don't see why they wouldn't promote him. They've changed things from the original game and they're directing it toward a generation of players who're used to those kinds of mechanics.

Since we've got promotion items, and the whole Class Swap thing... wouldn't Marth not promoting be a LITTLE weird? Especially with added chapters and characters meaning we get more EXP and higher level baddies...

It occurred to me that Marth might promote when he gets that Starlight spell, but that's way too late in the game, and he'd end up coming down with a case of Roy-Micaiah Syndrome.

I think that the earliest a Lord has ever promoted in his Fire Emblem game would be roughly halfway through (Ike in Path of Radiance), unless you count Micaiah's first promotion, which is about a fourth of the way through Radiant Dawn. And unless you count Sigurd and Elincia, who start off as promoted lords.

There being no third tiers in this game, I guess a fourth of the way through the game (when Marth gets the Fire Emblem) does seem a bit early for a promotion, but on the other hand I remember Eliwood (or Hector) being unable to use his promotion item the first time he got one in FE7, and Eirika and Ephraim, who had their promotion items from the start of FE8...

Hard to guage Game length when the main bit of known increase is at the start. If they really extend the 'Marth escaping the Kingdom' bit the Fire Emblem might be introduced at halfway.

All too true.

I'd actually like to see it happen in a Gaiden chapter :/

Why?

Then stupid people would miss out on promotion.

Marth will promote, and be replaced by an import of your Mii from your Wii. And for those that don't have wii's in order
to import mii's, he caps at lv 20 prepromote. Long live casual gaming.
