Saturos and Menardi proved to be too difficult with my current levels. I decided that Wish Well would be absolutely necessary for the final bosses, so I went to Crossbone Isle to train Ivan. I got Bane and made it all the way to the Pirate Ship and then went back. I grinded some more on Tempest Lizard, to the extent that I got 30 Potions. I used the Sanctum trick to return to Suhalla Gate and beat up the Storm Lizard just for fun. Then I went back to Lalivero and sold most of my stuff. In Venus Lighthouse, I revived Garet and Mia in order to RNG abuse the Gryphons to get a Feathered Robe. I had them killed in the same battle.

Menardi & Saturos
Isaac - Level 16
Ivan - Level 24
Score: 40
Total Score: 415

Isaac Samurai. Ivan White Mage. Isaac fights Menardi with Gaia Blade, Ivan heals with Wish Well. With a Feathered Robe, Ivan managed to outspeed even Menardi. When healing was not necessary, Ivan boosted Isaac's attack with War Ring, which baited Saturos to waste a turn with Break. Potions were used in dire situations. After Menardi died, the battle became a joke. Oh, and Isaac gained two levels.

FREOHR DATIA
Isaac - Level 18
Ivan - Level 24
Score: 42
Total Score: 457

No holding back this time. Garet and Mia's Djinn were being used to summon Cybele and Procne, followed by a few turns of Mercury unleashes. Outer Space... didn't really hurt that much. Actually, after seeing Cruel Ruin and Mine Ball, this seemed REALLY lame. The War Ring broke after its first use, but the battle was still very easy. Still though, I had to use a few drops of Water of Life, many Potions, and one Psy Crystal. I also had Ivan use Fizz sometimes while Isaac summoned Mercury on the same turn. But otherwise, it was usually just Isaac attack and Ivan Wish Well. The battle was over MUCH earlier than expected.

And no matter how many times I hear it, I still find the Prox theme really sad... and I still can't believe that they would actually put it in Book 1 just for that one scene.

Name Weapon Head Shield Chest Boots Shirt
====================================================================================================
Isaac Gaia Blade Warrior's Helm Mirrored Shield Dragon Scales Quick Boots Running Shirt
Ivan KIKUICHIMONJI Jeweled Crown Virtuous Armlet Feathered Robes Quick Boots Mythril Shirt
226140 coins

Anyways, with now that those are all done, it's time to turn to Deadbeard Book 2.

Well, yeah, Blitzy has more experience in handling the game with underleveled teams than me.

Anyways, Uhai

  • Make sure you frequently check the Master List for Djinn you need to acquire, particularly the ones marked with an F. You have to fight them and be sure to keep track of your levels when you do.
  • Deadbeard isn't counted, but Toadonpa, Book 2 Colosso, and Book 2 Bandits are all counted. Basically, when you reach the Colosso, make sure you WIN (the game allows you to lose), and immediately after you get Cloak, you should head straight back to Lunpa and do the sidequest. On your way there, make sure you talk to the Mayor in Vault.
  • Although Force is not a necessity for any of us, you got left with Charon as your last summon. Which requires Force. To get Force, simply Mind Read the Fuchin Temple dude that says "...". Also, for Charon, you will need to transfer at least 6 Djinn of every element (out of 7) so make sure you're not missing more than 1 Djinn per element when you finish Book 1.

Now, for my UPDATE!!!

So, I started Book 2, transferring my Book 1 data through linking. As I played through the Prologue, there were some interesting things I noticed. I had Jenna keep defending against some bandits to listen to the music and she died, and then Alex carried her back to the lighthouse and healed her. The dialogue at Idejima is also slightly different from Book 1. Also, after you regain consciousness, if you get Kraden and Sheba and try to leave, then Jenna will still refer to your party as "you two", even though we're three.

Anyways, I had Jenna and Sheba killed off, but for some reason they were both alive when I was at Kandorean Temple. idk if they auto-revive at some point or if I just forgot to save, but I killed them off again anyway. I went through the Temple, got my Mysterious Card, and then went on to fight the Chestbeaters. Unfortunately, it proved to be too difficult for base level Felix. So I utilized the Sanctum Trick to go to Daila, and then went to Dekhan Plateau. It kinda felt like my first Book 2 playthrough, where I completely skipped Kandorean Temple until I tried to repair the ship. I got a Mint, but decided to save it, because Agility (as well as Luck) is a stat where I'll know exactly when I need a boost. I gave the Pound Cube to Jenna because Sheba will be busy with Mind Read, Reveal, Cure, and, until I get Ninja access, Whirlwind. I got a Full Metal Vest, a Themis' Axe, and...

Cannon

Score - 5

Echo > Venus > STONE JUSTICE > Echo > Venus > ST-oh, wait, he's already dead

Sanctum trick back to Daila and returned to the boring Kandorean Temple.

Chestbeaters
Felix - Level 5
Score - 5
Total Score - 10

It was still quite difficult. Started with a Juggle which made all three of them waste one of their two Herbs. Then came a continuous Cannon > Mars > Juggle cycle. Cannon did more damage than Mars >_> and the only possible explanation I can deduce from that is that the Chestbeaters have puny Defense stats.

btw it's funny seeing Felix hanging on to the middle of a shaking non-horizontal rope when not crawling.

Fog
Felix - Level 5
Score - 5
Total Score - 15

Cannon > Mars > ST-bah, the unleash didn't activate. Oh, well, it was no trouble anyway.

Felix has extremely low HP and PP. I love the Sanctum trick. A night at the inn costs... 2 coins only??? Anyways, I had Jenna revived to heal Echo, and then killed her off again. Then I went to the Shrine of the Sea God

Breath
Felix - Level 5
Score - 5
Total Score - 20

Felix has 104 Venus Power, Echo, and a Themis Axe. No further details necessary. Oh, and Felix leveled up after the battle.

Also, how's this to celebrate starting book 2?

What. I knew that party level affected inn prices somewhat, but 2 coins? Whoa.

...Or am I missing something?

AFAIK party level has nothing to do with it. It's purely the location. For Daila, they charge 2 coins per person, and since Jenna and Sheba are dead, 2 coins is all I had to pay.

Yeah... Briggs was the only reason why I drafted Megaera. I might have to grind until I have access to an EPA, with Cutting Edge and Astral Blast being the first ones I can get

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot about the Tamer series. I'll have access to Orc without grinding, and Whiplash at Lv 10, earlier than the other EPAs.

And to think they're bad enough even in a normal playthrough, what with unreliable revival methods... 5 on 1 WILL suck. No beating about the bush here.

Aside from wasting precious drops of the Water of Life, it's just Spark, isn't it? At least I wouldn't have to worry about revival here. Still though, it was extremely difficult

UPDATE!!!

Went back to Dehkan Plateau and utilized Pound to get through the shortcuts. Got a Nut which required Lash. Found Piers's ship. Walked past Indra Cavern because with Zagan undrafted, it'll only serve as ammunition for Valukar.

Iron
Felix - Level 6
Score - 6
Total Score - 26

I had Felix use Cannon to attack, Breath to heal, and summon Jupiter and Mars after that. It ran away at first but I fought it again and beat it.

I went to Madra to sell my extra items and to meet Piers. Then I crossed the bridge and got the Pirate's Sword. Entered Yampi Desert.

Blitzy
Felix - Level 6
Score - 6
Total Score - 32

Took a few tries to bring it down. Felix unequipped the Mysterious Card and held both Echo and Iron. Used Echo, Iron, and Ramses, and healed with Cure when necessary. The second Ramses defeated the Djinn.

I reached the King Scorpion but the battle seemed quite difficult, so I decided to get more Djinn. I Retreated from Yampi Desert and went to Mikasalla and then tried to fight Sour. Apparently, Sour was also too difficult for me to beat, so I went and finished the entire Air's Rock and got Ether from Maha, before fighting Sour again

Sour
Felix - Level 6
Score - 6
Total Score - 38

Cannon did nice damage, as did Mars. But the main thing which saved me here was Procne.

I tried to fight the King Scorpion again... Theoretically, the battle should have been easy, because I can only get hit once per turn, and I can Cure when necessary since King Scorpion can't do more than 60 damage. Despite this, I was still crushed, because of poison and stun. For the poison, I went back to Madra and bought more Antidotes.

King Scorpion
Felix - Level 6
Score - 6
Total Score - 44

As for the stun problem, well, this boss has quite a lot of HP, so I can't just keep trying different ways of rushing through without getting stunned. Kay gave me the idea of exploiting the scripted RNG to avoid status effects. So I wrote down exactly what I was doing, and if I died (only possible through status), I would redo everything but try something different on the turns where I get stunned/poisoned (to save myself) or hit by Desert Gasp/Sand Breath (to speed up the battle by healing less). Here's what I got:

Spoiler (Felix vs King Scorpion)

I then made it to Alhafra. But I knew that Briggs is going to be really difficult, if not impossible, at my current state. So I went back to Mikasalla and got Spark and Megaera, since I have Scoop now. I was still scared of facing Briggs though, so I went all the way to Gondowan Cliffs, hoping to get as many Djinn as I can. There was a nice scene that I never saw before where Felix finds the Kibombo warriors planning for their raid. I couldn't go too far, because one of the ropes was missing, but I was still able to get the Laughing Fungus. I'll need that to get the Wheat Sword, right?. Anyways, the main thing I came here for was

Kindle
Felix - Level 7
Score - 7
Total Score - 51

This was tough. Not only did I have to rely on Jenna and Sheba's Djinn for summons, but I also had to rely on Blitzy's stunning effect. Blitzy > Procne > Ramses > Mercury > Mercury and it fell while Felix had only 13 HP remaining. He also leveled up, even though this was his first battle after King Scorpion.

I used the Sanctum Trick to get back to Madra (which was the only reason why I stopped there on my way) and then went through Yampi Desert again to reach Alhafra.

Briggs
Felix - Level 8
Score - 8
Total Score - 59

Even though this battle didn't take as many tries as King Scorpion, Manticore, Saturos, Kraken, etc, this was most definitely the most challenging battle I faced so far in this draft. Felix became a Trainer, chose a Djinn combination of Fog+Cannon+Breath for maximum durability (Spark offers 1 more Defense than Cannon, but no Attack boost), and ate two Apples and a Hard Nut. The result was that physical attacks did around 1-2 damage, and Echo Cut dealt 30 something damage.

The first half of the battle involved Megaera and Impact increasing Felix's Attack, and Orc as the main source of damage against the pirates. Orc 2HKO'd each pirate or 3HKO'd if they heal, but they seem to prefer healing Briggs over themselves. The hardest part was predicting their Oil Drops. That was the only real threat they carried, but each pirate only carried one. The pirates make sure they use their items, which might sound bad in the sense that I can't kill them before they Oil Drop, but it also means that they each waste one turn on a useless Smoke Bomb. All pirates outsped Felix, so I had to be careful in timing my Pixies. The pirates focus on healing Briggs, and Briggs likes saving his only Oil Drop for last. When there was one pirate remaining, I ran out of PP, so I summoned Ramses and used a few physical attacks.

The second half of the battle was a duel between Briggs and Felix. The pirates made sure Briggs was full health, and that Felix was drained of PP. This was even more intense. My healing resources were limited, and Briggs used Echo Cut every turn. Until now, I have never seen any Golden Sun boss ever spamming their signature move like that. I used a Nut to buy myself enough time to unleash Cannon > Breath > Megaera, for a nice Attack boost. Most of the time, I was just using two Herbs followed by a physical attack. Cannon slowly got stronger and stronger, thanks to Megaera, and it eventually killed him. This part of the battle alone costed me 10 Herbs and 2 Nuts.

btw the Tamer series should seriously rise in the Class Tier List. And Megaera, despite being weak, truly deserves its place at the top of the Summon Tier List.

Yeah... Sucks, doesn't it? I'd compare it with a certain dick move STING pulled in Yggdra Union, but that'd be off topic, so I won't.
