Sumomo leapt down from her position on the cart with ease as the sound of the charging mounted warriors reached her ears. Cursing under her breath, her hand went down to her sword, gripping it under her robes. She was in a awful position to say the least. The desert heat was intense and disruptive and the sunlight was great meaning she would have trouble fighting here as she was poorly dressed for desert fighting. To make it worse, her style of combat was meant for ambushes, not fighting against mounted units while on foot. Still, she had to do something.
Sumomo rushed off towards the eastern edge, praying that, somehow, the prevaling winds would help her out as she kept her sword hidden from view. She would have to join in the fray, just wished it wasn't under such bad circumstances.

Taking aim quickly, Salicia pulled the longbow with as much strength as she could master. It was pulled to the point that her arms were shaking slightly in protest moments before she let loose a shot with full power at the nearest mercenary brandishing his sword foolishly...

The spear missed it's mark which made the soldier snap into attention in time to raise his shield in time to block three consecutive sword blows from the flagging strength of the dying mercenary. None of the blows got past the shield.
Knowing that his healing powers would serve no one dead, Dave clutched his staff tightly as he made his way to the centre of his fellow combatants. A position he hoped would make him less likely to be in the way of arrow shots.
Dave activates Evasive Maneuver! -6Hit, + 3Eva
Further down, Chaen Lang and his men fought their way past raiders in their way. The Zhanmadao cleaving horseman left and right while the soldiers stabbed scimitar wielding mercenaries in perfect unison as Ken beheaded those trying to avoid Chaen Lang's wrath. They were inching rapidly towards Oscar and his lot.
"Damn archers...hiding behind those cutthroats like cowards!" shouted Qaahir shaking his fist at the raiders behind the safe wall the Tsaen soldiers formed with their shields on the west end, a comical sight of hypocrisy at its most typical. "We can't hold here for long, we need to make a mad dash to the enemy...who's with me?"

As Sumomo approached the front lines, one of the raiders spotted what seemed to be a soft target. A young, frail girl who seemed to have wandered out onto the front lines stupidly. Grinning wickedly, he approached Sumomo, sword raised overhead for a easy and swift kill. Sumomo looked up at him, seemingly unready and unprepared, a look of terror on her face!
Only for it to vanish in a instant as her hand gripped the hilt of her sword. The sand swirled as the mans sword came down on naught but the empty air where Sumomo had been a second before as Sumomo rolled to the side, drawing her hidden blade with naught but the faint glint of steel to signify that she had done so... besides the sudden burning pain in the ribs of the man as Sumomo's blade cut through his side with ease. Not even waiting to see if he had been felled, she stepped around him, twisting so as to slide her sword out of the wound and bring it around upon his backside as she brought the cutting edge down upon his back, lacerating into his flesh before pulling it out. Then, in a grim fashion, she brought her sword down low, its tip skimming the desert sands, as she swung upwards between his legs. The man was done for, if not in life, certainly in spirit, in less than a instant.

Alyssia froze for a moment, considering her options. Charging in there looked like suicide, and there was no real reason she should die to help anyone here. It's the path I chose, she reminded herself grimly. Besides, staying here isn't exactly safer. He's right, it is the best plan.
"Whatever you say, sir," Alyssia stated, then grabbed her throwing knife and darted toward the enemy, attacking the first person to get in her way.

Inspired by Alyssia's brave attack, the rest of the Tsaen soldiers launched themselves forward, spears trusting towards the nomads as the two mercenaries tried to block their way...

and...with the two defenders locked with other opponents, the mercenary managed to sneak in with his scimitar in hand to take a slice of Salicia.

Upon seeing the axe wielder attack the girl Zoey and then retreat to catch up with his allies Oscar rushed towards the downed girl with Dave right behind him. Upon seeing that she was still alive, Oscar gathered the girl up in his arms to attempt to take her back a ways out of the battle. Once Oscar set Zoey down Dave began to attempt to heal her, though it was unlikely he would be able to do any more than stabilize her until the battle was over. Before he stepped away from Zoey, Oscar grabbed her Iron Sword, just in case the Axe user returned, He'd give it back once this battle was over. Not wanting the enemy attempt to finish off the girl or attack the boy, Oscar kept as close as possible to defend them.
Oscar activates Guardian to protect Dave and Zoey
(OOC I'm counting Zoey in this as well just in case an archer decides to attack her while she's down)

Zoey was suprised by the speed that an AXE user assaulted her, he landed a heavy blow on her shield arm, her vision flashed as she realised that probably broke the limb, a second blow knocked the now limp shield arm ot the way, before she took a heavy blow right to the chest, while her Mythril Chestplate stopped the blow from killing her instantly, it couldn't stop the crushing of ribs and lungs, her vision flashed white as shre crumpled to the ground, then slowly faded to black, just in time to see the man they were supposed to rescue scoop her up... she coughed once, shooting a little blood over her armor, before blacking out completely.

...that split the unwary mercenary's back. Wasting no time, Ken shouted, "Hey, come now! We've got to regroup back among the caravans!" Sheating his sword, Ken turned back to ran to the safety of the makeshift barricades in the form of Tsaen caravans while the rest of the soldiers with Chaen Lang came to drag back the fallen forms of Zoey and the soldier Han. As Chaen Lang walked forward to lend his soldiers a hand, his accidentally kicked over a sack from the dead mercenary, which made a lot of clanking sound as if it were filled with pots and pans. The sack loosened to reveal a gauntlet poking out of it.
Group North will now spend the round retreating back to the caravans while Oscar may now pick up his gear
Salicia tried to smile but could only grimace at Alena's words due to the pain she felt from the raider that got past their defenses, "Well, it's only natural I shoot well. You have no idea how long have I been in the business of disposing people," notching another arrow with her normal bow this time, for her arms was getting tired from the strain from pulling the longbow too hard previously. As she took aim she asked Alena, "Tell, me, have you ever heard of the name Black Arrow, girl?"

...that split the unwary mercenary's back. Wasting no time, Ken shouted, "Hey, come now! We've got to regroup back among the caravans!" Sheating his sword, Ken turned back to ran to the safety of the makeshift barricades in the form of Tsaen caravans while the rest of the soldiers with Chaen Lang came to drag back the fallen forms of Zoey and the soldier Han. As Chaen Lang walked forward to lend his soldiers a hand, his accidentally kicked over a sack from the dead mercenary, which made a lot of clanking sound as if it were filled with pots and pans. The sack loosened to reveal a gauntlet poking out of it.
Group North will now spend the round retreating back to the caravans while Oscar may now pick up his gear

You have no idea how long have I been in the business of disposing people," notching another arrow with her normal bow this time, for her arms was getting tired from the strain from pulling the longbow too hard previously. As she took aim she asked Alena, "Tell, me, have you ever heard of the name Black Arrow, girl?"

Oscar was relieved to see that reinforcements had come from the convoy these people were traveling with, while he might have just been healed, he was still injured and very tired. As soon as they arrived the soldiers started to move the wounded girl and dead soldier, while another man was moving past the mercenary that was cut down on their entry. Seeing the Tsaen man kick a sack from the now dead mercenary and a familiar looking gauntlet pop out Oscar rushed over to investigate, willing to bet the sack contained his armor and weapons he would have to wait until they retreated to see if everything was actually in there. Seeing that the girl was being tended to by the Priest on the way back, Oscar moved started to move along with the retreating group.

Alyssia glanced at Qaahir for a moment, wondering if she should do something to help him. He's a veteran fighter, he can take care of himself, she chided herself.
Only one enemy who hadn't fled... he didn't look that much tougher than the others.

Battle Ends~for now...
The winds grew stronger and sand was beginning to get into the eyes of everyone present. Those with magic fared a little better, but those without started finding it hard to see, even the natives. A huge column of moving sand was coming towards everyone. There was the blaring of horns as the raiders started pulling back, leaving their dead where they are. With winds this strong, all ballistic attacks were rendered unpredictable, hence useless.
The defenders watched tiredly as the raiders started to disappear over the northern horizon. Chaen Lang shook his head to clear his fatigue, "Alright everyone! We run south now! Don't get caught in the sand storm." barking a few more orders in Tsaen, his men quickly prepared their caravan to move. The horses had been largely unharmed by stray arrows, and those that were injured we prioritised over the wounded fighters to receive healing. After all, the fighters won't be pulling the caravans.
Some used the small window of opportunity of not having to tend to a caravan to loot the corpses as quickly as possible...

Loot: Each character can only make a grab for one item if they so choose. Characters need the free slots to take the item. Characters may attempt to take an additional item once by rolling a 1d20 and adding the (Wt - Str/3) of the item to the number. If the number exceeds the Speed of the character, the character failed to retrieve the extra item. Claim is laid on a first post first serve basis. Soldiers will focus on taking any unclaimed Sandbreakers, but they won't hand it out for free.

Fighting in this desert is going to be a problem. Reducing that danger should definitely be a priority. One of those axes would be nice to have, but I don't think I could carry much more...

OOC(To those who's characters have not taken any items but did participate in the stat battle): It's never too late to grab an item because you can always post the character grabbing it before updating to what's currently happening if you haven't done so.
"There, all done," said Dave stepping away from Zoey. Thankfully he had been quick with using the staff to stop the bleeding and mending the wounds quickly. The broken ribs took quit a while, but he was thankful the lungs weren't pierced and the magic could focus on aiding her breathing in the initial recovery stages. "You should be able to sit up now, but breath carefully," Dave spat out some sand, "the sand storm's getting worse."
All around, everyone was struggling to head south, where there were some ruins they can take shelter from. Qaahir had ventured there before on occasion with sages and scholars not too long ago, hence he was familiar with its location. And there was supposed to be an ancient well in there which was always good, for water was the currency of life out in the desert.
Due to the sand storm being focused on traveling eastwards, the group managed to clear it shortly after heading south. It would be a day's travel south west before they reach the ruins. As night began to fall, Chaen Lang ordered the group to halt, before fatigue from force marching would overcome them. Of course a privileged few were able to sit down in the cover of their caravans.
No fire was set up this time, in fear of an enemy attack, hence the caravans were pulled much closer together and the horses all gathered to sleep in the centre where those left outside could wrap up and sleep next to them to share the warmth...and smell.
Chaen Lang let the soldier on watch wear the sandbreakers they pilfered off dead raiders for their rounds, to keep them warm while they were away. Turning to Oscar, Chaen Lang called him, "Rekamite, I didn't catch your name in all the stuff that was going on. Who are you and why are you out here? The ones who could report to me are either busy recovering from nasty wounds, busy tending to said person or could not grasp anything not spoken in Tsaen."
Omair lay down next to Hakkibe as he gazed at the stars cursing at his poor skill in magic. If he had mastered the technique to draw heat from the land and coat everyone in its warm protective layer, the rest of them would not need to spend half their sleeping time shivering. Chaen Lang had offered to let him stay in the soldier's caravan, but he declined, wanting to spend more time with his employees. Beside him, Qaahir was clearly snoring loudly, making the mage regret his rash decision. Chaen lang had explained how setting up tents would make them all spread too far apart, making it harder to defend themselves.
Rubbing his hands, Omair pondered on how his sister was doing. Perhaps she had already mastered the spell to keep out the cold for everyone, perhaps she was trying to comprehend ancient texts that was far beyond his level of understanding. Rolling to his side, Omair frowned. If he had started learning magic earlier...would he have been able to achieve as much? Probably not, my father was a simple body guard...but hers is a sage of great power. The magic in her blood would naturally be better, he grumbled with a tinge of jealousy.

Setting aside the Tsaen Rations he had been eating Oscar stood up from his position of sitting against a wagon to talk to the man "My name is Oscar Sir, I was a bodyguard for a caravan of merchants heading towards the capital. About two weeks ago we were ambushed by the same Bandits as earlier, we managed to kill a few of their men but the far outnumbered us. I managed to hold out the longest against them before I was knocked unconscious. Ever since then I've been starved and tortured by them for their amusement." Said Oscar explaining his situation to the man, visibly shaking . " I suppose they were just waiting for another group of travelers to come by to ambush and they used me as bait to gain your attention."
"I need to thank you for saving me, and I am truly sorry for the soldier that died during my rescue." Glancing over at the tent where the Priest that was with him was working on Zoey, Oscar asked. "Do you know how that girl that was with me is doing right now? I'm a bit concerned about her."

I guess they were aiming to have more of us lured away from the group to cut off," Chaen Lang said taking out a small bun from his pocket. Seeing Oscar eat made him feel hungry again. Due to no fire, no cooking was done for the night, "Well, the girl...you mean Zoey? The healer says she'll be fine. Just she would do well to avoid strenuous activity in the near future. Would be bad to open up new wounds. So what are your plans from now? Where are you heading?"
