I think it is pretty unrealistic to judge the systems' future when we don't even know the full details of their idea. Sony has had 10 year plans for all three of their systems, I am sure they will plan for longevity again. I imagine their solution will be to remove that block when the console is discontinued, but I am not a Sony employee so who am I to say :P:?

Maybe they'll do something like Valve where they'll stop the "DRM" when they go out of business, or in this case, when the Orbis dies.

Hopefully.

And then shamelessly sell ports.

My guess is more of a Virtual Console route. Which is just as fleeting.

If any restrictions were only temporary, I would regard them as tolerable and probably even reasonable. After all, it's when the new sales are no longer existent that used sales are both harmless for the company and most important for the consumer. But I would not bet on this.

It seems pretty unreasonable to leave used games unplayable on it forever, I definitely agree there. I hope they don't plan to do that, but we can't really say either way at this point. I also don't like the idea of having to re-pay for your games if your system breaks and you need to get a new one, so I really hope they have a customer plan for that issue.
