From what we know, I'll try to help. The master seal is not a very good item to use, as you can just promote them at level 21. Use on a Unit that you know you won't use, but would be good promoted. I use it on Illyana. As for Paragon, use it on a unit that seems to be getting a good amount of kills, so they can level easier. If on EM, I would go Edward or Jill, but you can do others. Don't use Fiona... Might be the worst unit in the game if not given attention.

Master Seal Jill->use energy drops/draco/robe->Have her go nuts for rest of p1 killing all->have her Crowned by 3-6.
Since EM has +5 blessage gains to all stats in tower, so stats aren't a big issue
Edward can easily meat-shield chapter 1-P without dying
Nolan can easily meat-shield chapters 1-1 to 1-4 without dying
sealed Nolan can easily meat-shield chapters 1-5 to 1-8 without dying
Sothe can easily meat-shield chapters 1-2 to 1-E without dying
Zihark and Tauroneo can easily meat-shield chapters 1-6 to 1-E without dying
BK is the perfect meat-shield and will never die
use any of these units as meat-shields if you don't plan to use them the entire game, just keep them stocked with the overflow of vulneraries you're getting. nobody will die if you play it smart. and to be sure, save every turn at the beginning of your phase.
Eh,you know, just using them to help out isn't a bad idea...
and Sothe should be used anyways, for 3-6 and beastkiller knife.
Zihark can take paragon+Volug support+Bexp'd strength lvls and then Master Crown to promotion for 3-6.

Then focus on a team of units.
And use the others for shovebots/help thin out enemies.

Well you should actually. At least once you get a feel for the game and who does what. Like right now, i plan on Oscar, Mia, Soren, and maybe Calill for endgame this run. Hence why Calill got use in 2-E. (usually i like, never use her) Im also going for a minimal unit usage run. Planning ahead is a good idea. Sometimes, its cool to just run with whatever happens but yeah...
Calill is best Sage statwise+availibility wise.
Aside from Soren.
Planning ahead is recommended, but get a feel first->Then see what units you enjoy using.
If all fails, then here are some failsafe tips.
If DB units are getting screwed,
Sothe/Zihark/Volug are failsafes.
If p2 is getting tough, then

2-2 Failsafe units:Lucia, Mordy, S striked Nealuchi, and Str transfer Neph+Short Axe Brom can do well

All of them bar Mist.
Since GM units are pretty easy to use, and they are all gods of war.

Oh hai, we have Royals.
And anything with at least 34 spd and Nasir can double auras in NM.
In EM, we get+5 stat bonuses and Nasir.
Also, don't be afraid to fall back on Sothe for p1.
