ask yourself, what are your goals for wanting to play an instrument?

but prioritize piano because learning guitar isn't as hard

But both are great, versatile instruments that are worth respecting. What kind of stuff do you want to play? Or be capable of learning to play.

See, this was what I was thinking, kinda.both
but prioritize piano because learning guitar isn't as hard
I want to be able to do more than merely sing, I suppose.ask yourself, what are your goals for wanting to play an instrument?
I mean, I can play piano a little bit, but I'm forgetting the basics and I'm considering (most likely) taking lessons again next year. I'm thinking that if I do this, I can consider myself more of a musician and I can start writing music in my spare time. I guess I've always kinda wanted to dapple into composing music, and it's been haunting me quite a bit. I'd think that in order to make this feeling stop, I have to do this. I know my actual majors take priority here, but I feel that if I don't jump at this blatant opportunity, it's going to be a lot more difficult in the long run. I figure, hey, make this a hobby I can have fun with. It might take me somewhere, it might not.

I guess it depends, since I want to develop my own kind of style in the long run. What kind of stuff do you want to play? Or be capable of learning to play.
My voice is most used to/suited for classical works, but I don't want to limit myself to the genre just because of that.
I guess I just really like the idea of experimentation.

EDIT: I found learning the guitar harder than piano. You need to do a lot of practice before you can properly hold the strings on the neck. Especially for the more difficult chords.

in that case, start with piano. if you feel like you're starting to get the hang of that, decide if you'd also want to play the guitar.I want to be able to do more than merely sing, I suppose.

I would say piano. Particularly because you mentioned experimentation, and you can get a lot more out of a piano than you could on a guitar. As you get better, the scope of the piano is phenominal in the sense you can play classical, pop or jazz and they all sound fine. To me, the guitar's horizon is a bit...small.
But my opinion's probably biased since I play piano
A guitar's horizon.... is exactly the same. The only significant difference between these two in this regard is that it's harder to play two, or hell three layers of music at the same time on guitar

No, seriously; thanks for the advice, guys. I've been thinking about this for a while and if I do end up going for both, I'll start with piano, I think.
