Right, during my current run (ENM) I just completed Chapter 25 (the Kenneth version).
less than two promoted enemies. I killed the Sage (because the SF page says that only the General, Druid and Bishop count) and the Bishop (because he was a bitch) but Karel showed up! What the hell happened?

If the HHM map is any indication, the sage should count.

Oh... The Sage is one of them. I think the General in Eliwood Mode doesn't count but the one in Hector Hard Mode does (This Mode doesn't count sage)...

I remember doing Jerme's Map On My first Hector Mode Playthrough. I thought the goals for each character was reversed so i opened a lot of doors and i was surprised to see Karel pop up. I decided to just go along with it though...

My advice, if you really want Harken, is to do Jerme's chapter. It's much easier to avoid opening four doors by turn 9 in Jerme's chapter than to avoid killing two promoted enemies by turn 9 in Kenneth's chapter.

That sounds fair, I don't see it happening outside of a draft though. Mostly I use the mage characters that trigger Kenny more than then fighters that trigger Jermy.

Just to clarify, does the General/<whatever it is in the other chapter> count or not?

On Eliwood mode (normal or hard) only the NW Druid, the SW Sage and the central Bishop count as triggers, so the General is fair game.

On Hector mode (I haven't checked for ages), only the NW Sniper, the SW General and the central Bishop count.

Also doesnt opening locked doors actually count toward the recruitment? I think its like: Kill 1 or no promoted enemies and 1 or no doors unlocked before turn 10 and Harken shows up on Kenneth's map. Cuz i make sure to get Harken on that map now.
