It's typiccally worth quite a bit more in terms of the amount of data it requires to store it digitally.

The most expensive paintings typically go for a lot more than the most expensive books, even though that's just one painting VS many thousands of words. The most expensive book is a William Blake illustrated by the author. In fact, a number of them seem to make a lot of use of illustration.

Pictures are harder to duplicate than text.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard of someone commission a fanfiction, but fanart, or art in general is frequently commissioned. (some people do commission written works, especially about themselves, so this would be a weak point in my argument. Unlike the typical grade schooler I am not concerned with winning arguments.)
