I'm thinking of replaying FE4 for pure enjoyment and having some weird pairings would make it a million times more enjoyable.

A couple examples:

Lex/Tiltyu might be fun with Ambush/Wrath OHKOing everything with the right resources.
Lachesis/Azel could be fun too, cause Delmud + Fire Sword = destroys everything.

Any other ideas?

LexxTiltyu is pretty interesting, Wrath and Ambush are a nice pair. However, Azel!Delmud is pretty lackluster, he'll deal more damage with physical weapons anyway :P. Stuff like JamkaxAyra and LevinxBriggid can shake things up a little. If you're feeling really brave, you can pair Ardan with somebody.

ArdenxTiltyu, Wrambush Mark 2!

ArdenxLachesis, neither of them should be in the action in chapter 2 anyway, and it makes her kids tanky.

ArdenxFury, for similar reasons to Lach, and the convo in chapter 5.

Of course, he's inferior to Lex except for inheritance, but they're still workable.

Other ones I've tried are AlecxFury (Fee no longer fears arrows!) FinxTiltyu (to see how Prayer/Wrath works) and HolynxSylvia (to try and make Leen a combat unit)

Do those two work out well? They sound interesting.

Azel!Delmud is pretty lackluster, he'll deal more damage with physical weapons anyway :P

But it doesn't hurt, does it? After all, the magical weapons work like physical weapons on close range.

Regarding TiltyuxLex: I'm trying this one out on my current playthrough, but my Arthur can't deal enough damage to onehit enemies with wrath (even with a magic ring). I hope he'll be fine with a Thoron after promotion, but up until now, it's rather disappointing.

FinxTiltyu sounds like it might be kind of lackluster, but very very interesting.

Holyn/Sylvia is quite terrible. Lynn's combat is garbage no matter what you do.

Actually, with a Lex pairing, you can send Lynn out for a frontline dancer. It's interesting, especially because she'll have Elite. And it kind of solves Corple's slow leveling too, same reason.

Fury and Claude has been done in several drafts, it's pretty standard and turns out great kids. Ayra and Noish is kind of nonstandard, but the kids are the most epic I have ever, ever had from her, and that's saying quite something. Hmm, you could do what Horace did and go Claude/Lachesis - it's kind of a variant on Claude/Fury except for screwing Delmud over rather badly. Azel/Lachesis is just plain awesome because now Nanna can actually heal. Brigid's got any number of oddball pairings, and considering you can't mess Faval up...yeah, go nuts with this one.

I thought Noish x Ayra was standard. o_o

Suppose I'll go with Azel/Lachesis so Delmud can actually be useful.

NoishAyra has pretty much became the third standard Ayra pairing now imo, but it's not as standard as the other two since you still have to get one of the other two to get you that cool sword.

I want to try FinAyra sometimes for Prayerkids. Sounds kinda interesting~

Some said that Noish/Fury is a good pairing, haven't try that one though.

Deu/Sylvia is pretty fun, there no need to fear about them to get their fund and Courple can easily abuses his staff without worrying about the repair lol. I guess I get lucky with this pairing since Lynn turns out to be as powerful as if she is Lex's daughter.

Azel/Fury is another favorite of mine as well, though their luck and skill might be a little bit low sometimes.

Claude/Lachesis makes Nanna a full-time healer. Libro and Warp go!

Lex/Lachesis creates solid front-liner fighters.

Mideel/Lachesis is decent, pretty much similar to Beo/Lache.

Jamka/Ayra is nice as well, it's kind of similar to Noish/Ayra minus Critical.

Holyn, Deu or Lex makes wonderful father for Patty and Faval. Extra point for Lex since leveling Patty is easier thanks to Elite.

Finn/Edin is nice as well, Rana can be a (nearly) frontal healer and survive thanks to prayer.

I want to try FinAyra sometimes for Prayerkids. Sounds kinda interesting~

Done it. It's a great combo. Sending Lakche into the battlefield with half of her max hp is pretty much a routine, lol.

I did FinxTiltyu in my last run. Don't expect the kids' Magic to ever grow, but the (almost) broken Pursuit/Prayer/Wrath combo makes them perfectly trainable.

EDIT: Ah, here's how they ended in that run.

The Fin with Aira or Aideen pairing also gives special stat boosting conversations with their daughters. Fin and Tiltyu isn't bad but imo it's just a hassle to do it.

Lex with Sylvia is ok imo. Elite really helps those kids out.

Is it true that Prayer only lasts one turn? What do you have to do after that one turn?

Yep, that's true. I experienced it myself in my current playthrough.
After that one turn... well, heal the character. Prayer will activate again if the characters HP fall under 11 again.

Yeah.. I suppose Fin/Ayra would be better. I might actually do that now. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Sorry about the double post, but I'd like some opinions:

Ayra x Fin: Prayer on fragile sword users would probably be amazing.
Aideen x Claude: I might go with Azel, but Rescue + Reserve in the beginning is sweet.
Lachesis x Holyn: Does Delmud get Moonlight Hit?
Tiltyu x Lex: Wrath + Ambush.
Bridget x Noish: Felt like trying something new. Patty gets Critical and Charge so she may actually be a great combat unit. Faval will kick ass, obviously.
Fury x Levin: I feel bad for Fury if she pairs up with anyone else.
Sylvia x her right hand?

No, the swordskills can only be inherited by unmounted units with swords.
If you want the skill, you could instead try to pair Holyn with Bridget. Moonlight Hit is really cool on Patty.

Not to mention it's the only pairing that gives her B Swords so she can use the Brave Sword. No Pursuit, though.

There's also a patch floating around which will allow sword skills to activate no matter the class, though. So one could use the patch and plan their pairings accordingly, if one wished.
