I probably should have made one of these earlier, but oh well. I just joined the forums recently, I tend to be more of a lurker and I had been looking through for a while before joining.

I first got into the games when FE7 came out in the US, and I got hooked. Went on to import FE6 because I'm nuts, and just latched onto the franchise more than any other. Because of that FE6 is still my favorite even though I can point out a number of flaws with the game. Nostalgia is annoying at times...

Aside from that, as of August 2012 I am a Graduate Student at UNC Charlotte. I study meteorology, which anyone who knows Japanese would be able to guess from my username (tenki = weather, weather forecast. I am the uncreative person). I'm interested in Tropical Meteorology, mainly tropical cyclones (hurricanes). So in that sense... I can explain some things about the weather. *shrugs*

Meteorology, huh? That's a field of science I want to look into.

Welcome to Serenes!

I've beaten FE4 a number of times, actually. Played through it the 3rd most frequently of all the games, the most frequent being FE6 and FE7. I've played and beaten FE4 through FE12. I also own all of these except FE5 because... I don't have the 150 dollars to spend on it (this does mean I got a Super Famicom. Yeah).

I haven't done a ranked run before, and decided that I might try FE4. It's going to take a *lot* of planning, I've discovered. I just need to get started planning out the prologue.

As for meteorology, I grew up in Kansas. Seeing supercells approach during the spring leaves an impression on you. ^^; Haven't seen any tornadoes though, so don't ask about that. I could also explain some of the information about TS Debby if anyone is curious...but I might end up confusing people instead. I get kind of wordy when it comes to the weather.

What are the chances of Hawaii being flattened by a hurricane this year? :P:

Oh, and welcome~!

Welcome welcome!

If you're going to try ranked, I'd definitely start with FE7. FE4's ranking system is... a brutal, deviant beast. Not the best place to start.

Welcome to serenes! Have you tried the tellius games yet? Pretty fun games imo, but kinda different from the others. :/

Either way, I've been interested in meteorology for a long time now, and I'm intrested to see what topics you bring to the general section. :P

Meteorology, huh? :P: Ever heard of atmospheric rivers, because that's my topic of research.

I have, actually. I know that the Bulletin of the AMS had an article about them an issue ago. I know the concept, that what happens in one area is carried over into the next. I do not know much about them though, I'm just starting graduate school...I should go find that article.

As for Hawaii... very low. Hurricanes rarely hit Hawaii just because of the islands' location. Planetary High pressure systems, the highs over the ocean, tend to set up so tropical cyclone development and movement is not favorable in the area of the Hawaiian Islands. Of course there are exceptions, but Hawaii is pretty protected from Hurricanes.

Yeah, I own and have beaten FE9 and FE10. I like FE9, it's a well designed game. FE10...I have problems with. Not with the difficulty (okay, kind of with the difficulty because the Dawn Brigade is the Fail Brigade. Once you get to parts 2 and 3 and get Crimea + Ike's band of curb stompers the difficulty falls considerably) but some of the gameplay and mechanics choices I was not too fond of (I didn't like the transferring of skills around everywhere for some reason) and the story has so many plot holes it's just sad.

Hawaii's in trouble if a hurricane forms really close to it. The last two did, and it didn't end well. Thanks for the explanation~!
