Ah, yes. Forgot about that one.The Levin Sword counts as magic from both close and long range.
Levin Sword is magic at all range, Amatsu and Ragnell are physical at all range.

Manakete look like they're spitting something at the enemy, really. Looks something like a bubble and some ice.

For Amatsu and Ragnell, the unit just chucks the sword at the enemy. You'll get a "casting" animation out of the Levin Sword.

they chuck......a sword.....ragnell.....
Manakete use ice breath at any range.

I was surprised when I saw this as well. Amatsu being thrown was surprising enough, but Ragnell behaving the same is really unexpected.

Looks to me like they did it to distinguish ragnell and amatsu's physical properties from the levin swords' magic. But that's such an odd way to do it.

Because throwing respawning javelins/knives and boomerang axes isn't ridiculous enough.
well ( i haven't seen throwable axes in FE13 but im going to go by GBA since im so used to it) they throw it like a boomerang and lances they could be carrying a crap ton of them

* Actually, FE9 simply counted walls and such as 3 spaces so that it appears you can't shoot arrows across them. You can still shoot across walls using the weird, range 4 only Double Bow.

You know what else is ridiculous? Ranged attacks going through walls. FE9~10 disallowed that* persumably because of the obvious graphical weirdness. FE13 kinda solved that by showing the characters attacking over the wall (as if there's no ceiling) if you turn off the battle animation.

FE10 put holes in the walls. Or said walls were fences.
