"We should divide and conquer," Kayla started, breaking out of her silent spell. "It'll be easier to find things if we move in pairs instead of as a group of four. I'll go with Amera, and Cyrus can go with you. I know that Amera and Cyrus are both armed, and I have my electricity, so there shouldn't be any problems with defense. You should also have a firearm on you, right? Anyway, it'll be problematic if both of the medics are together, so I feel this is the most efficient setup, plus we could find a bigger variety of items this way."

She didn't like where he was taking this, she really didn't. It felt like some form of horrible rejection, and she wasn't about to let that happen. "So... so I'll stop! If it bothered you, why didn't you say anything? I'll stop smothering you and we'll try to take it slow!" She hated this feeling, "and just because you don't know what to do with it doesn't mean you can't find out! What, you just want to give it up without even trying?! I'm willing to try! Please..." She didn't know what else to say. "I don't care if there's anyone else left to take my happiness, I want to try giving it to you, but you're just so... SO... SO STUPID!" Janson didn't seem like he was going to respond. Rejection was something new. It was painful, and lonely. It wasn't something she wanted to accept, but... no, I won't accept it. He can't just get rid of me with some silly speech! I'll show him. I can help him see that there's more to life than what he thinks there is. Resolute in her ways, she trudged after him, looking down.
----------
The fortress was as intimidating as it was before, still towering over the world. She wondered if it ran up into the clouds. That wonder was broken as Janson started explaining the situation. "I wonder how high I can get," she muttered to herself.
"Yeah, sure, let's go." She grabbed the girl's arm and started dragging her away from the boys, still upset from before. Maybe Kayla will understand... I'll never get boys.
Dustin
It didn't take them long to run into the stream that Janson had mentioned, Dustin taking a seat next to it to rest his leg. "Well, it's good to know that this is nearby where we're all staying. It might not be filtered, but it's better than no water at all. "I think I'll skip on the water for now. Don't wanna have to rush off to the bathroom while we're trying to kill something." He did take the time to stare into the water, though, looking at his reflection. Hah... how did someone as average as me make it, huh? Something darted in the reflection of the water. What the...?! He looked across the stream, squinting. And then going wide eyed in horror.
"KRAHHHHHHHHHH"
"Oh my GOD WHAT IS THAT?!" A massive beast, what looked to have the head of a lion, a falcon, and a snake, all grotesquely attached at the neck, appeared from behind a large chunk of foliage. He scrambled to his feet, wondering if he should start running. "Wyuna... is the rifle going to be enough...?" He almost whispered at her, even though he'd yelled a moment ago. He was scared to death. The monster seemed to be scaling the three of them, wondering which one to go for first. Dustin gulped.

"H-Hey!" Kayla complained when Amera grabbed her arm. She stole a glance back at Cyrus and mouthed a "sorry!' at him, as she was being dragged away rather brusquely by her friend. "Woah, Amera, what's with the rush? Did something happen? Aren't you supposed to be, I dunno, peppy and bubbly and chipper and stuff? Is something bothering you? Is somebody bothering you? And hold up, there's a metal rod we can use as tent support or something lying over there!"

Wyuna, hoever, had no time for silly conversations. Now was a time for action, her sight set on the abomination in front of her. Remaining rather calm, a feat in and of itself even for her given the circumstances, Wyuna tried her best to keep Dustin calm, "Hey, no sudden movements, Dustin. Animals can generally sense fear..." Taking the rifle out, aiming it and taking a breath, she spoke once more to dustin and the other man, "I'm going to take a few shots at it and I'm going to break off to my left, you two try and stay safe, and if you can find an opening, as slim as the chances are right now, try to jam something in it. A twig, a rock, a shard of glass, anything..."

It looked like they didn't want an old man cramping their style whilst they scavenged. Alan laughed, they probably thought he was too old to be of any use. Kayla hadn't said anything about the incident, perhaps she didn't want to talk about it? Caliban bent down and inspected the now burned out fire.
"Looks like we weren't keeping it going. It'll be a pain to start up again, especially without a lighter. You don't know anything about fire starting, do you Alan? Well, I'm no doctor, so I'll leave Selena to you... I'll see if I can get some twigs for the fire."
"Righty 'o, don't take too long, Caliban."
Caliban started searching the area for lightable material, he knew he'd probably have to step into the forest to find something. Alan turned to Selena, who had been quiet until she made contact with Kayla. She seemed a little out of sorts, and noticely hot. Fevers don't come on in a matter of minutes, something else must have been at work.
"So, Selena, how are you managing. Take a seat, you haven't seemed right since yesterday."

"Oh, Amera, Kayla, just a heads up, try to stay in earshot with us, and we'll be doing the same of course. Just in case something happens, we wanna be able to help each other out."
She didn't bother saying anything, only turning and sticking her tongue out at him with a bit of a scowl before darting around a corner and getting out of his sight.
She dropped the girl's hand and sighed, starting to look around. "It's Janson, it's me, I don't even know..." She took the rod that Kayla had mentioned, hopping into the window of a house sticking out of the ground. "I'm being too pushy with him and he just shoves me away! I know I can stop doing that if it's bothering him, but I want him to at least try, y'know? But back there, he just blew me off! I don't get boys..." She suddenly turned to Kayla and took her hands, looking at her with sad eyes, "I mean... I'm hot, right? Got a good figure, big tits, a nice face, and I'm super happy and nice..." this was really bothering her, and she didn't know if Kayla even had a good suggestion for her.
Dustin
"Hey, no sudden movements, Dustin. Animals can generally sense fear..."
"R-right, no sudden m-moves..." He didn't know if he could manage the no fear part, though. And he was really glad he'd gone to the bathroom earlier. "And twigs, sticks, whatever, sure..." His eyes darted around, looking for what she'd asked about. There was some glass about ten feet away, likely from the fortress. If he had to, he could try jamming some of the more holdable pieces into the thing. That might hurt his hand, but it was his hand or death. No contest, right? This thing looked like it had come out of some fantasy video game, so maybe the glass wouldn't work. I might need some holy sword to defeat such a creature... are you cracking jokes right now, really?

Kayla giggled a bit at the last part and pulled Amera into a hug. "Yes, you're a really pretty girl and I honestly thought that you were going to steal Cyrus from me when we first met. But looks aren't everything, and they shouldn't be. Maybe you came on a bit too strongly and he's uncomfortable with that? Or maybe he thought you were a bit on the young side and it was his awkward way of saying it? Any way you look at him, he's an awkward guy who doesn't really know what to say at the right time, but he's gone through a lot of difficult stuff before and after the fortress fell, so you can't really blame him, right? He's the type of guy who probably hasn't had much contact with females outside his family or had a really bad breakup with a former girlfriend, so he's touchy about this kind of thing, maybe? I dunno, I don't really know the guy's background to be able to tell you much." She pat her head and pulled her along towards the house she got the rod from, hoping to find usable things. "Obviously, you can't force him to like you, but maybe you can try chipping away at him bit by bit? He doesn't seem like the type of person that responds well to emotional outbursts. What were the two of you talking about, anyway?"

"H-Hey! Cyrus kissed me first, so you can't say that! He's a really sweet guy that looks out for me and he's funny and he's actually pretty handsome and it's fun to tease him and... Augh! Th-This isn't even the time even think about about bedroom shenanigans, anyway, what's wrong with youuuuu?" Kayla balked, trying to figure out how the conversation led to this. "A-Anyway, what do you see in Janson, anyway? Ever since I first met him, he's been the center of, like, all of the arguments ever. Some other kid actually got mad enough at him to punch him within the first five minutes of me meeting him. I don't think I could ever deal with someone like that as my boyfriend."
"But... you're right, I've been too forward. If I want him to try, I guess I've gotta try too, right? Gotta take things slow... though that'll be tough, I've never done that before..."
"Um... just how have you gone with your other relationships?" the younger girl asked timidly, not sure if she even wanted to know. "Do you have, like, lots of experience or something?" she asked as she searched a fallen chest of drawers. "Looks like this room belonged to an old lady or a health freak or something. There are lots of vitamins and other supplements here!"
"Oh, uh, he just gave me this speech about him only being here to be the 'ferryman' and help us along before being forgotten, and that other people deserve the happiness I was trying to give it. A buncha crap, if you ask me... hey, is there anything specific you need to find here? Like, did anyone ask for anything back at the camp?"
"Yup, that's a buncha doody, I agree. The top drawer over here is filled with medicine and vitamins and supplements, so we should ship that back to camp. We also need clothes. nonperishable food, water, tools, medical items, and stuff. Actually, do you think we could find a sewing kit or something? Maybe scissors, a knife, screwdriver, hammer... that kinda thing. Oh! And paper and writing materials for Dustin! He'd like that sort of thing. Says it'd keep him sane."

He silently followed Dustin and Wyuna to the stream, taking a quick drink from the stream. The water wasn't amazingly clean, but it wouldn't kill him. He was about to strike up a conversation with Wyuna and Dustin - Particularly Wyuna, whose power interested him - But the presence of this ridiculous... chimera? cut him short.
"I'm going to take a few shots at it and I'm going to break off to my left, you two try and stay safe, and if you can find an opening, as slim as the chances are right now, try to jam something in it. A twig, a rock, a shard of glass, anything..."
"That probably won't work. Against that body, a small injury won't do anything. What we could do is trap it, or turn it against each other; That beast has 3 heads, it's not unreasonable to assume it has 3 independent minds too. It's probably still confused, so that might work."

There was sense to be had from what Kaden said upon first glance. However, the creature wasn't content with simply staring at the trio, so it roared and even started a charge towards the, until Wyuna shot

He was frozen, even as Wyuna yelled at him to run. It wasn't until she started shouting like the beast that his legs finally listened and he started running. But I can't just leave her to deal with that thing on her own! One gun's not going to do it! Maybe I can... He grabbed a stone that was sitting near the stream. It was pretty heavy, but he was no slouch. This works in video games, right? "Hey, beasty!" he tossed the stone at it, striking it in the back of the head, "come and feast on this!" That sounded pretty cool! Yeah! It then dawned on him that this wasn't a game, and that the monster would probably start running after him now. Didn't think that one through, did you?
Amera
"A-Anyway, what do you see in Janson, anyway? Ever since I first met him, he's been the center of, like, all of the arguments ever. Some other kid actually got mad enough at him to punch him within the first five minutes of me meeting him. I don't think I could ever deal with someone like that as my boyfriend."
"It's like you said, he's probably just awkward about these things. Doesn't know how to handle himself that well around others. And he told me about what he said, he feels terrible about it. And..." She sighed again, not one to think about these things. "I don't know, he's just... if he hadn't come along, I'd still be stuck up in some random house, thirty or so feet off the ground, a bunch of those monsters waiting down below for me to fall and get torn apart. And it was my fault that he got hurt when he did show up, too. He cares about others, he just doesn't... know how to show it very well. He's selfless. Too selfless." She didn't know what else to say. "It's just this feeling, really. What attracted you to Cyrus?" she shot back her own question, "Though I've gotta say, it helps that Janson gets flustered so easily. I like doing that to people." She felt good talking about it, made their little excursion easier.
"Um... just how have you gone with your other relationships? Do you have, like, lots of experience or something?"
Speaking of getting flustered easily, "wouldn't you like to know, huh? Maybe I can give you a private lesson later, haha!" She could barely contain her laughter at her most obvious of jokes, knowing that Kayla would get at least a little bothered by it. "Ahhhh, this is too much fun. I'm glad I came along instead of sitting back at the camp." Kayla seemed to have her priorities straight, "yeah, that guy seems like he's trying to help everyone. It'd be nice of you to find that for him," so Amera kept searching around the house. Stifling laughter, she picked up a blanket. "Oh, hey, I did find a one, haha. Well, I think I'll just take that along... doesn't look too bad. What about clothes...?"

Kayla thought her heart ceased to beat when Amera asked her that question. "I-I thought I just told you?" she replied, turning several shades of red. "He's his own special brand of awkward, but I find that to be really cute. Umm... he's easygoing and fun to tease. I like it when he gets super flustered, too. Maybe I'm a masochist and like it when he yells at me about not being old?" she laughed nervously. "I guess the biggest thing that attracted me to him was that he defended me when your sugar daddy was getting on my case. He had all the reason to dislike me and no reason to help me, but he did it anyway. And uh... um... at first glance, he seems really scrawny and a bit of a lightweight, but he's actually pretty handsome..." She couldn't look at Amera in the face as she said this, it was way too embarrassing.
"Wouldn't you like to know, huh? Maybe I can give you a private lesson later, haha!"
"U-Ummm... please don't..." This was getting to uncomfortable places really quickly. "I was just wondering, because you seemed to be experienced in that sort of thing since you said you never took it slow before and I was just curious, since I've never had a boyfriend before."
"Oh, hey, I did find a one, haha. Well, I think I'll just take that along... doesn't look too bad. What about clothes...?"
"Aha! Let's see... there's some flowery stationery, sticky notes, some pens, a couple of pencils, and a small box for sewing! Looks like a female inhabited this room, so we could probably pick up a change of clothes for ourselves or Selena or Wyuna and find a heavy coat or two. I don't think that style and fit matter all that much anymore, anyway. There're probably more blankets in storage or something."

'Crap, torn in half, tank top, child size.... Here we go!' "Hey I found some pretty thick coats and blankets! Coats look like they might fit you and me, the girls might find them a big baggy though." Putting them off to the side he kept looking around, trying to find something else that might be useful for their little group of misfits. "Mind helping me see if you can find a dufel bag or backpacks? No way we can carry all this back in our arms."

The rock smashing right into its head, the anomaly was furious, roaring out of pain and rage. Turning about and searching for the assailant and whipping its heads and its tail about, it tore through the foliage in a rampage that sent shivers down Wyuna's spine. Thankfully for her, that noise was dulled... for the moment. Feeling incredibly reckless, Wyuna took aim yet again, firing into the beast twice, each time making it cry out in agony. "Come ooooonnnn, which hurts more, you ugly misfit?! The rock or the bullets?! Want a reminder?!" she kept on roaring in a downright demonic voice as she fired yet another round into the beast's leg, unable to hear its shrieks, unable to hear much of anything really. The only thought passing through her mind right now was something along the lines of "I would have made a terrible policewoman... And it doesn't matter anymore, hehehe...."

"It's... strange... the parts of my body that have shifted, they don't have a sense of touch... but when Kayla, when she touches them... the electricity she gives off it... it seems to turn the nerves back on, and fill them with euphoria... it fills my whole body with an overwhelming heat... the stronger the sparking, the harder it hits." Selena explained, wiping her brow of sweat.

Kayla, you're adorable. Keep getting flustered, I need this positivity. She laughed a little, Kayla turning into an embarrassed ball of emotions. "It's fine, Kayla. You like him, you don't have to explain why if you're uncomfortable doing so. Can't even look at me while you're saying it, can you? Heehee..." she sighed a bit, "It's just fine." Rummaging some more, she found a cupboard with a few cans of corn in it. Corn, really? Why did you have to survive? Ugh... Not being one for vegetables, she begrudgingly shoved it into the backpack she'd found.
"U-Ummm... please don't... I was just wondering, because you seemed to be experienced in that sort of thing since you said you never took it slow before and I was just curious, since I've never had a boyfriend before."
"Whoa, I was just joking. I don't swing that way, don't worry... and I guess I can tell you. But, some other time," she winked, continuing her maniacal giggling. There didn't seem to be much else in the house, and Kayla had found enough. "Next house then, Kayla? If we can get to any with this damn slant... I can't believe the fortress managed to land like that. Actually, how much more can you carry? The backpack's almost full with the blankets and the cans. I'm sure I could carry some more stuff in my hands, if I have to."
Dustin
Wyuna shot it, again, and again, and again, whilst screaming in some sort of devil's tongue. But it didn't seem to be turning around, wanting to remove nuisance before the main threat. "Oh no no no nonono!" he turned and ran, hoping he could outrun it long enough for Wyuna to at least stop its legs. or gets its attention back on her. Which it did, almost right after getting shot in said place. He toppled over onto his leg, turning over and watching it run back at the woman. "No, no there has to be something I can do, there has to be SOMETHING!" He pulled himself to his feet and readied another stone, not caring anymore. If he could juggle this thing between him and Wyuna, the better off they'd be.
