Are the staff users more like tools than actual characters? My brother and I just got past Map 4, and we've noticed that a lot of the characters play more like utility-characters, than characters which grow stronger... Maybe it's just our luck, but it seems like if a character starts pretty bad, they don't get better, making it a better idea to find the awesome characters first and stick with them, rather than try to make the average/lesser characters work.

Though Narron got beastly stat gains upon promotion, almost doubling all his stats :O

I gotta say, the difficulty curve in this game sure is whack. One chapter's got me romping through piss easy bandits and zombies, and the next has me fending off dozens of cavalry while simultaneously forcing me to save an impending-doomed Narcissus.

Most enemies tend to suck even lategame. Few human enemies break the 0 AS mark, while there's many different ways to deal with monsters that do have some speed. Usually they also tend to be quite fragile.

The most annoying thing an enemy can do to you in this game is to refuse to attack you on enemy phase (problem for Gale/Hurricane units capable of OHKOing).

Glad that your saving him. Cuz I've actually lost him in my first run and I couldn't get Rishel, Bud, and some stat up items in Chapter 25.

They also refuse to attack you if they can't damage one of the units (Rishel with his [acronym='also boosts his defense by 10']Sunflame[/acronym] equipped, for example.)

Hurrah!
For another Strategy/RPG game to have smart AI.

It'd be a shade better if they didn't run up to you still before ending their turn :/

Wow, this game throws some pretty insane scenarios at you. Starting right next to the enemy's army (who is surrounding one of your weak allied characters), or giving you a ridiculously weak character who's surrounded by the bulk of the main army, who has to rely on two charms to stay alive long enough for you to get to her. Or how about sending 5 archers after Samson, who's alone?

Samson's pretty boss though. He killed all the archers, no problem.

(One of them got to Alicia though...who was shockingly impressive).

Yeah, that's what makes the Defence stat one you don't want to have too many level-ups in, paradoxically. Makes armour knights even more useless in this game, too (though the General who joins you isn't half bad).

Ahaha, the weird scenarios still continue on. Since when is a map with only 2 recruitable enemies considered a chapter?

I've also noticed since the first run that I've forgot to mention that by using star weapons, your experience gains gets cut by half.

Seriously? I would have never known that.

edit: how the hell are you supposed to reach the blocked off chests on map 16?

edit2: Ohhh I see what they did there.

Anyone have a way to get through chapter 19? The boss crashes the game(Specifically, its his quote that does it). Looks like the villans have won >:C

I just switched it to the japanese game to get through that part. Hope switching to and back doesn't cause any more issues.

I really liked the game so far. I'm pretty sure I did that one fortress chapter wrong, I was stalling untill they ran out of summon, and the boss blew up the fort ._.

I beat that boss (somehow). He blows up the fortress no matter what you do.

e: Map 19 didn't cause any crashes for me :\

Lyria can also be recruited in that map. Just visit the church building with Attrom.

Map 18? That map can be annoying. Lots of summoned monsters, Long-range attacks. oh yeah, I OHKO'd Barbaross using Estelle :D
