Has anyone else noticed that enemy archers tend to attack your own archers even though there are 1-range enemies in their range too?

For example, I was just playing the Prologue recently and an archer attacked Midir even though a bunch of other units like Lex, Noish etc. were in range.

I noticed the same thing recently in FE11 with an enemy with a javelin. He attacked my mage and took a counter, instead of attacking 2 other units equiped with 1 range weapons.

Could the enemy archer do any damage to the other units? They might just go for the option that allows them to do the most damage, regardless of their own personal safety.

FE11 AI pretty much goes for the most damage (making anyone with low def a miraculous bait)

FE4 AI is really, really strange, and gets even stranger when the leader of a squad is killed.

I still remember that time all of the Peg Knights in Ch4 in FE4 attacked Briggid... ON 2 RANGE. Sigurd and promoted Lex were also in range with 1-range weapons equipped... but no, they all attacked Briggid... with Javelins... ON 2 RANGE.

I remember having trouble with getting Lachesis to talk to Eltshan in chapter 3. After a ton of failures, I just went "screw it" and had her walk straight into the middle of Eltshan's squad to talk to him. On the next enemy phase, all the enemies went after Sigurd and Lex even though they could have killed Lachesis in one or two hits.

I don't understand FE4's AI at all.

That makes sense in the context of plot; Eltshan told his men not to attack Lachesis because he loves her.

Except I've also had them target Lach over others before. FE4 AI is almost like what I've heard of Gen 1 Pokemon in that way. It's pretty random.

I was just playing fe4 ch7 the other day and all three mage sisters suicided on Shannon instead of attacking him from range or attacking Arthur.

In the case of the Mage Sisters, I think their AI has them attack Shanan at 1-range so that they have a chance to Triangle Attack.

The Mage sisters in C7 and 8 are programmed to go for 1 range attacks if they're all alive at the start of the EP. They seem to usually revert to actual safe attacking if any of them are dead, though.

Problem kicks in when the game doesn't recheck itself after one of the sisters dies so the other two just throw themselves away.
