Calculation

To activate supports, first make sure that the two characters are compatible. The list in the previous page shows which characters can support who. The two characters need to be kept adjacent to each other for a number of turns before the option to support appears.

Supports make characters fare better in combat, so it’s only fair that there are limits on supporting.

In one chapter, you can only activate one level of support for a specific pair of characters. For example you can make Eirika and Ephraim have a C support together in one chapter, but you will be unable to make them have a B support in the same chapter. Points will still accumulate towards the next support level, but it will not rise to the exact amount needed for the next level.

You can make a character support any number of characters in the same chapter. For example I can make Eirika activate a C support with Ephraim, Seth, Innes, Saleh and L’Arachel in the same chapter. However, when I said “any number” of characters, I was slightly lying and you can see why if you read the next limit.

A character can only have a maximum of 5 levels of support at once. An A support counts as 3 levels, a B support counts as 2 levels and a C support counts as 1 level. Some optimum support combinations would include:

  • 1 A and 1 B
  • 1 A and 2 Cs
  • 2 Bs and 1 C

And so on…

The individual bonuses for 1 level of support are as follows:

Fire: Attack + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5
Thunder: Defence +0.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5
Wind: Attack + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5
Ice: Defence + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5
Dark: Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade +2.5
Light: Attack + 0.5, Defence + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Critical + 2.5
Anima: Attack + 0.5, Defence + 0.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5

Note: Attack equals both physical and magical, while the same thing for Defence.

To get the full bonus (for two characters), you must add up the bonuses for both affinities and multiple them by the level of support.

Example: C Support between Wind and Dark affinity characters

Full bonus = (Attack + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5) + (Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade +2.5)
Full bonus = Attack + 0.5, Accuracy +5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical +5, Critical Evade +5

Final decimals are omitted so…

Full bonus = Attack + 0, Accuracy +5, Avoid + 2, Critical +5, Critical Evade +5

Example: A Support between Wind and Dark affinity characters

Full bonus = 3 x (Attack + 0.5, Accuracy + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade + 2.5) + 3 x (Accuracy + 2.5, Avoid + 2.5, Critical + 2.5, Critical Evade +2.5)
Full bonus = (Attack + 1.5, Accuracy + 7.5, Critical + 7.5, Critical Evade + 7.5) + (Accuracy + 7.5, Avoid + 7.5, Critical + 7.5, Critical Evade + 7.5)
Full bonus = Attack + 1.5, Accuracy + 15, Avoid + 7.5, Critical + 15, Critical Evade + 15

Full bonus = Attack + 1, Accuracy + 15, Avoid + 7, Critical + 15, Critical Evade + 15
