Chapter 12: The Thieves of Dakia

On the World Map

After breaking through Dandrum Fortress, Leaf hurried towards Tahra, hearing that the Empire was soon to launch a full-scale attack on the city.

Dakia is a wide forest located to the east of Tahra. When Leaf arrived at Dakia Forest, the area was darkening.

Opening Cutscene

Seiram:
“Pahn, it’s my shift now. I’ll keep watch.”

Pahn:
“Oh, it’s already night. But Seiram, what about your injuries?”

Seiram:
“I’m fine now… Thanks to you.”

Pahn:
“Those Lopto people aren’t exactly nice, are they? You would’ve been a goner if we hadn’t passed by.”

Seiram:
“…… The Lopto order does not tolerate traitors. That’s the rule…”

Pahn:
“Traitor? You just wanted to leave the order, right? I don’t think they had to kill you… But why did you decide to leave in the first place? Lopto priests are even more important than the Emperor himself nowadays.”

Seiram:
“I began to question the order… That is all.”

Pahn:
“I see… Well, that’s not what matters. I like you, and I want you to join us, if that’s okay with you.”

Seiram:
“You’re a thief, but you don’t kill or steal from the poor. I will fight with you as long as you stay that way.”

Pahn:
“I don’t like to kill people. But we’ve got more guys now, and some of them just don’t want to listen. Especially Colho and his boys. They’re a problem.”

Seiram:
“Colho is evil. They are attacking defenseless travelers.”

Pahn:
“I know. I’m going to cut ties with them once and for all. All I need is you and Trude.”

Seiram:
“And Tina… Don’t go too far with her. She’s still a
child.”

Pahn:
“Hahaha… All right, then I’ll leave the watch to you. The Imperial Army might stop by…”

Seiram:
“I know. I’ll put anyone who comes too close to sleep with this staff…”

(Scene switches to Cyas and Mareeta)

Cyas:
“I must be off. …Please take care of her for me.”

Woman:
“Of course, Bishop Cyas. Leave her to me.”

Mareeta:
“Bishop Cyas… You’re going?”

Cyas:
“Yes, I must return to my own country. It hurts to leave you behind, but you seem to have recovered now… You should do fine on your own.”

Mareeta:
“…Thank you for everything, Bishop Cyas. If you hadn’t rescued me, I…”

Cyas:
“I see you are lamenting over turning your blade to your mother, but you must get over it. You couldn’t help it, the Blade of Darkness was controlling you. But now that I’ve removed the curse, you should take it.”

Mareeta:
“You want me to take this sword? But…”

Cyas:
“Did you not say you wanted to be a swordmaster like your mother? Then you must not hate the sword. A fine sword can be both an evil blade or a holy blade depending on who wields it. Even this sword was not originally made to be evil. If you want to be a true swordfighter, then you must learn to love any blade that you come across. If you can’t do that, you cannot call yourself a swordmaster.”

Mareeta:
“Yes… I will keep this sword as a memory of my mother.”

Cyas:
“Good. I have a feeling that you will eventually see your mother as long as you keep that blade with you. Well, I really must be off. I doubt we will ever meet again, but I will be praying for your happiness.”

Mareeta:
“Thank you very much. Farewell, Bishop Cyas…”

1st Turn

Colho:
“Hey, boys, looks like we got some company. Sneak up on them and kill them off. We’ll share the loot. Pahn? Bah, who gives a damn. I’ll kill that bastard myself. And get the villages while you’re at it!”

2nd Turn

Mareeta:
“What’s going on? What’s all this noise?”

Woman:
“Bandits are attacking the villages. People are afraid they might come here as well.”

Mareeta:
“Bandits? Are they the thieves that the villagers were talking about?”

Woman:
“No, the Dandelion would never attack a village. They’re probably brigands from another area.”

Mareeta:
“I see… Don’t worry. I’ll protect this village.”

Woman:
“Don’t be silly. A girl like you wouldn’t stand a chance against brigands.”

Mareeta:
“No, I’m a swordfighter. I am the daughter of Eyvel! I won’t lose to a bunch of brigands!”

5th Turn

Tina:
“Bishop Seiram.”

Seiram:
“Yes, Tina?”

Tina:
“Here, I made some dinner for you. It’s cold out, so I made something warm.”

Seiram:
“Thank you. It’s dangerous outside at night. You should go to sleep.”

Tina:
“Yes…”

Seiram:
“…Are you worried about your sister? You said her name was Saphy… Don’t worry, you will see her again. I will help you look for her once my wounds are healed.”

Tina:
“Really? Thank you, Bishop Seiram. Good night.”

20th Turn

Dorias:
“Dawn is breaking, Lord Leaf. We can see further now.”

Fighting Seiram

Seiram:
“Intruders of our forest… Leave at once!”

Defeating Seiram

Seiram:
“Pahn… This is how it was meant to be…”

Releasing Seiram

Seiram:
“I see… So you are…”

Fighting Colho

Colho:
“Dammit! You guys were soldiers!?”

Defeating Colho

Colho:
“Gaaaaaaahhhhh! You bastards! Guh…”

Releasing Colho

Colho:
“Dammit! I’ll be back!”

After beating the map

(If you finished in under 20 turns)

Dorias:
“Lord Leaf, this seems to be the hideout of a band of thieves. Perhaps we should clear them out while it’s still dark…”

Leaf:
“Yes. But aren’t the troops exhausted?”

Dorias:
“We should only take those who are still able to fight.
…Around five people, maybe.”

Leaf:
“All right, let’s go. The villagers would appreciate it.”

(If you finished in over 20 turns)

August:
“The thieves hiding out in this forest apparently steal from greedy nobles siding with the Empire and give the loot to poor villagers. Their leader is a young man named Pahn. The villagers call him a good thief.”

Leaf:
“I see… Then I suppose we should leave them alone. Dawn is breaking anyway.”

August:
“Yes. In that case, let’s hurry on to Tahra. We are almost there now.”

(If Mareeta survived)

Mareeta:
“Lord Leaf…?”

Leaf:
“…Mareeta!? Is it really you? What are you doing here…”

Mareeta:
“I’m surprised as well. I never thought I would find you or the people of Fiana so quickly.”

Leaf:
“Mareeta… Forgive me. Because of me, Eyvel…”

Mareeta:
“No, it’s not your fault… It was my weakness. If I hadn’t lost to the sword’s power…”

Leaf:
“Mareeta, I promise I’ll rescue Eyvel. I’ll save her with my own hands!”

Mareeta:
“Then I’ll go with you! I’ll become stronger. So please take me with you!”

Leaf:
“Of course. We can’t return to Manster now, but we will go back some day. We’ll save Eyvel together, Mareeta.”

Mareeta:
“Yes, Lord Leaf!”
