Chapter 2x: The Pirate Isles

Opening Cutscene

Shiva:
“Lifis, you’d better not touch that cleric. Understood?”

Lifis:
“Y-Yeah… I know.”

(Shiva leaves)

Lifis:
“C’mon, Saphy… I’ll give you whatever you want. So would you please do as I say?”

Saphy:
“I’m sorry, but Lady Linoan has given me an important mission. Or will you fight with us for the people of Tahra, Lifis?”

Lifis:
“Against the Empire!? No way, I’m better off committing suicide.”

Saphy:
“I know this is asking a lot… But handing out innocent children as sacrifices simply cannot be forgiven. We’ll probably all be killed, but we have still chosen to resist. The citizens of Tahra are not just fighting for themselves… Our world will eventually be blanketed in darkness. If we don’t stand up now, the world will fall to the dark god Lopto. Please, Lifis, we need your help! I want you to fight for Tahra, and for the future of our world!”

Lifis:
“…If I say okay, then will you do me a favor?”

Saphy:
“Yes, anything that I can do…”

Lifis:
“All right, I’ll convince the boys and go to Tahra. But you better keep your promise.”

Saphy:
“Yes!”

(Scene switches to Leaf)

Leaf:
“It’s getting dark… I can’t see a thing.”

August:
“If we had some torches, we would be able to see a little further…”

Leaf:
“It’ll be a tough fight without them.”

August:
“Yes, especially since we do not know these islands very well. But I’m sure there are torches somewhere. Do not worry.”

Leaf:
“All right, let’s go. We can’t be wasting time here!”

2nd Turn

Pirate 1:
“Boss, are we really going to Tahra? I sure as hell don’t want to… We might as well kill ourselves if we’re fighting against the Empire.”

Lifis:
“I know. I just said that to make that girl mine. There’s no way I’m going to Tahra. Shiva, that bastard! He’s just a mercenary, so where does that soft spot come from?”

Pirate 2:
“Boss, looks like someone’s sneaked in from the west.”

Lifis:
“What? Damn, this just ain’t my day, is it? All right boys,
go get ’em! Catch them and feed them to the sharks!”

Conversation (Leaf, Eyvel)

Leaf:
“There are a lot of enemies… Can we win?”

Eyvel:
“Don’t worry. As long as we don’t do anything rash,
there’s nothing to fear.”

Leaf:
“Do you know Lifis, Eyvel?”

Eyvel:
“Yes… He’s just another rogue, not even worth killing. Lord Leaf, when you capture Lifis, don’t let him escape. We shall bring him back to Ith and make him apologize to the villagers.”

Fighting Shiva

Shiva:
“Hmph… Fools.”

Defeating Shiva

Shiva:
“What…! How could I…lose to…”

Releasing Shiva

Shiva:
“Soft ones… But now I owe them.”

Fighting Lifis

Lifis:
“W-Wait! Sorry, I was wrong. So don’t kill me!”

Defeating Lifis

Lifis:
“Ugh… Saphy…it hurts…”

Releasing Lifis

Lifis:
“Guess I’ll have to start over again. See ya,
idiots!”

After beating the map

Leaf:
“The pirates seem to have fled… Is the cleric safe?”

August:
“Here she is.”

Saphy:
“Thank you for rescuing me, I… …!? …Wait…”

Leaf:
“…Is there something on my face?”

Saphy:
“Lord Leaf! Have you forgotten me? I’m Saphy, from Tahra!”

Leaf:
“Saphy…? The girl at the monastery in Tahra…her name was Saphy.”

Saphy:
“I have only met you a few times, so I don’t blame you for not remembering me. But I remember you, Lord Leaf. I was the one who comforted Lady Linoan when you left Tahra…”

Leaf:
“Oh, right… You were Linoan’s friend. You were the bishop’s daughter, weren’t you?”

Saphy:
“I couldn’t be her friend… Lady Linoan is the daughter of the duke of Tahra. I am but her servant.”

Leaf:
“What are you doing here? Is Linoan doing well?”

Saphy:
“Don’t you know what happened to Tahra, Lord Leaf? Tahra was under the Empire’s control after the duke passed away, but it has been horribly corrupt. They even started the child hunting this year.”

Leaf:
“Child hunting…”

Saphy:
“The citizens couldn’t take it, so they started a rebellion with Lady Linoan as the new duchess. They hired mercenaries and bribed the higher-uppers of the Empire in an effort to win their freedom, but King Blume wouldn’t allow it, and Tahra was surrounded by Imperial troops. The mercenaries feared Empire’s power and fled, leaving only a small number of citizen warriors putting up a hopeless struggle. I have been sent by Lady Linoan to look around Thracia for people that would fight for Tahra.”

Leaf:
“Tahra has been in such a bad situation…? The duke of Tahra hid me for five years before he was executed by the Empire…I will never forget my gratitude for him. I’ll go to Tahra, I’ll save it! Let’s go, Saphy.”

Saphy:
“Yes, Lord Leaf! Thank you!”

(If you captured Lifis)

Lifis:
“Hey, what’s going to happen to me?”

Leaf:
“We’re turning you over to the villagers. They’ll decide your fate.”

Lifis:
“H-Hey, wait a minute. If the villagers get a hold of me,
I’ll be killed! C’mon, let me go… Please, Saphy. I promised I’ll go to Tahra, right?”

Saphy:
“Lord Leaf, this man isn’t as evil as he seems. I know piracy is an unforgiveable act, but he already realized his mistake. Please help him.”

Leaf:
“Well, if Saphy says so… All right, we’ll see how you do for a while.”

(Leaf and Saphy leave)

Lifis:
“Phew, looks like I’m safe for now. Now all I gotta do is slip away when I see the chance… …Wait, if that kid’s really the prince, then I can also turn him in to the Empire for a hefty reward… Well, I guess I’ll think it over. It’ll all be after I get Saphy in my hands…”
