The recently-released Making of Fire Emblem book is packed full of developer and staff interviews; among those interviewed was Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Smash Bros. series, also a big-time Fire Emblem fan.
Thanks to Kirokan for scanning the interview and the Source Gaming team for translating it, you can read the 8-page interview in English right here.
The interview begins with a discussion about Marth and Roy’s inclusion in Melee (a decision that helped propel the Fire Emblem series in the West), before moving over to more recent considerations.
There’s also another reference to Roy originally being named “Ike”, a piece of trivia that popped up while the interview team were unearthing details of Fire Emblem 64.
