Heroes: Tempest Trials Mini: To Die on the Battlefield Starts Today!

The latest event in Fire Emblem Heroes is live! Tempest Trials Mini: To Die on the Battlefield starts today and runs for a single week.

The plot seems to pick up where we left off, but this time, Eliwood, Lyn, and Hector are diving into the tempest with “Marth”. Awaiting them at the end is a powerful Berserker…

Since the event is shorter than previous Trials, the rewards are easier to earn. You get your first prize at only 50 points and the final reward is at 50,000. You can score yourself repeat rewards for Masked Marth (4★ at 3,000 and 5★ at 15,000) and Quickened Pulse (at 6,000). Additionally, there’s a new Def+1 Sacred Seal at 10,000 and Distant Def 1 at 20,000. Daily Quests are also available for even more prizes.

Tempest Trials Mini: To Die on the Battlefield ends next Friday, 15 September, at 6:59am UTC. You can also see the full September event schedule here.

Finally, I can get the Quickened Pulse Sacred Seal! But, I have no use for Masked Marth, that character is weak without skills! Also, Hector is the boss of this Mini Tempest Trial? …Just, why?

    • Laggalot101

Do you happen to have a Lucina? If not, or if you only have one with a bad boon/bane combination (like me, +HP/-Atk is not fun), I think putting a bit of effort into building Masked Marth is quite worthwhile. I’ve built mine into a medic set with Renewal and Reciprocal Aid, and it’s really really nice in Tempest Trials and Chain Challenges, and makes a pretty reliable unit in her own right. Of course, it takes a good bit of effort and resources to get there, but I think it’s worth it. And hey, this second coming means I can merge mine to +1, completely for free. I can’t complain.

    • Kneekicker

Hector being the boss is most likely a gag, since the Hector on “Marth’s” side states the enemy berserker wouldn’t be a match for him. Having them be the same person would be the joke in this case.

  • Laggalot101

Welp, now that Boey has broken my 4% pity rate on the CYl banner (at least it was a good Boey, will be worth building), it’s time for me to save orbs again. And this TT hands them out like candy, thanks to the halved score requirements. I can save myself a good bit of grinding taking advantage of the tripled score on the first two runs of every day on the 7-map Lunatic challenge, then I’ll just do some auto-battle runs on Hard-5 to boost the score further.

  • Ah yes, let’s give out the same rewards for a much lower score total that some people worked hella hard to achieve previously. Sounds fair. I guess I’ll get some extra feathers for my troubles, but shit man. Even though the event is shorter it’s not particularly difficult to rack those points up.

    • Sisyphe

Agreed. I maxed out the Trials the first time and it was not fun at all. Although that one gave out more orbs than this one (I believe), and the Distant Defense seal is new, so there’s that

    • Espiritu

So because the last ones were long boring and too hard for others, they should just make them all the same because you had to work hard on one, so we all have to suffer……

      • I’m fine with changes to this system, and they already made it easier with the bonus points. But it’s not particularly fun when the same skill is given out essentially for free compared to how it was previously, without acknowledging how hard others worked to get it.

        • Tazura

Your “reward” was having it for 3 months before others. That means you had it for 2 tempest trials, many GHB, BHB and others challenges,, not to mention many seasons of arena. That is not worthless.

          • I swear…

Look, the only thing I mind is how easy it is to get it (I already got it after like 7 runs). What was the point of having it as a really cool and exclusive reward for putting down a lot of effort in the first trial, if it’s going to be given away for much less at a later date? It takes away parts of what made it nice to have if you see everyone having it. Now, if they had put it as the 50k reward in this trial instead of 6k I wouldn’t have been complaining.

          • Goodperson25

Look if exclusivity is an issue to you that’s fine, but I’m sorry it absolutely looks like it’s one of your points.

          • In a sense, yes. Not to the point where I don’t want anyone to ever have the skill apart from the ones who got it first, but more along the lines of what I already wrote. It’s just too easy to get it.

          • Kneekicker

It isn’t even possible to get the 5 star “Marth” in just 7 runs; the two score bonuses only grant around 4200 points in a perfect run with the 40% bonus, there’s still roughly 10800 points to obtain following the two bonuses. If you can repeatedly achieve AAA on the highest difficulty, it’d still take a little more than a dozen runs to get “Marth”. If you’re going to pout, you should at the very least make sure your claims aren’t completely absurd.

The first TT was infamous for being too grindy, “Marth” was a disappointing prize as (s)he was just neutral Lucina with no skills, and the playerbase for Heroes has vastly grown in the time since; it makes perfect sense for the rewards to be rereleased in a manner that’s easier to obtain. If 5 star “Marth” was kept at the 30K checkpoint like with the previous 5 stars, you bet there’ll be whining.

          • I was talking about the pulse seal in particular, not MM. My bad for not specifying that.

I still stand by my point that 6k is far too tiny of a score for such a good seal however.

          • Jordan Jackson

Aww. Poor Pebbicle. Now everyone will have the awesome thing that we worked for three months ago. Apparently, you are not familiar with gacha games, since these repeat events that follow are literally designed to catch people up that missed it. This helps eliminate some of the power creep by purposefully leveling the playing field.

As others have already mentioned, your reward for hard work and being a Day 1 player is that you’ve had QP for three months, which made the other two Tempest Trials significantly easier. You also have had it for your Reinhardt to nuke people in Arena, netting you 900 feathers every week for months. You had it on GHBs to make the Infernal difficulty easier, and you had it on the BHBs to get additional orbs for more chances at good heroes.

But not only do people have that seal, we now also have your salty tears for our popcorn. Thanks for that.

          • It’s almost as if you people are incapable of reading.

No, I don’t play gacha games, because it’s a shite genre. I don’t even have a Rein and I build teams that don’t revolve around that particular seal. I get what you’re trying to say, but it’s irrelevant in regards to my point.

          • Jordan Jackson

I’m more than capable of reading. This is also my first gacha game, but I’m aware that this is common practice. It doesn’t matter that you don’t build teams around that seal or use Reinhardt. What is absolutely true is that you’re crying about the fact that a super exclusive reward is now all but free to everyone. You feel that it negates your hard work. You also fail to acknowledge the fact that your true reward was that you had it for 3 months whether or not you used it.

Suck it up buttercup, but this is how the game works. The game will continue to hand out some freebies to keep the playing field level in order to negate the effect of power creep. If this bothers you, then perhaps this isn’t the game for you.

But since you feel that your exclusivity is gone, I went ahead and made a prize just for you. Enjoy!

          • Lmao, sick photoshop bro.

Honestly though, what’s wrong with that? Don’t you find it a bad practice? It’s not power creeping if everyone has the ability to get the seal. Again, the points required to get it should be higher than 6k, which is what I’ve been trying to convey all along. I don’t mind people getting it. I do mind how easy it is to get it. I’m fine with others having it. The score total for getting it is far too low.

Do you want me to repeat or rephrase it for you further?

          • Jordan Jackson

So to sum up your argument, it’s not power creep if everyone can get it, but you want it to be hard to get, so not everyone can get it. Or at a minimum, you want people to have to work harder for it, which would mean that some people are still unable to get it. Ultimately, you want to make sure that some people can’t get it to make your hard work in Tempest Trials 1 feel more important.

I see nothing wrong with the game handing out some of the better things to help out new players. The game is boring if you have so much power that you can just roll over every team in Arena. The people that weren’t able to get 50,000 points in the first Tempest aren’t really going to be the ones competing with me now, but it will help level the playing field so they can catch up a bit.

Incidentally, the only people getting it in 7 runs are the people that got it the first time. How do I know? I’m playing my reroll account just to get the seal, and despite having some decent units, they can’t handle the hardest difficulty. So for people that don’t already have a really good team to get the top points for their first two runs, 6000 points is still at least some effort.

And while we’re at it, it’s not even “hard work” to get any of the rewards in Tempest Trials. It’s really just time and stamina. You can grind the lower levels with enough stamina potions, and the game gives you at least one stamina potion for finishing a round. Most anyone can do that if they play the easier settings. So the thing that you’re calling “work” is that you sat with your phone in your hand for several hours to get a thing in a game that by your own admission, you don’t even really use. Despite this, you don’t want everyone else to be able to use it, and definitely not easily.

          • The game itself is pretty dang bad, yet I play it continously because I’ve been with this series for 16 years. I don’t even know why I’m arguing about it, but here I am. It’s true that this game is not really difficult in any department, since if you have enough cash to spend you can effectively blaze through everything. But I still don’t see the point of luring people to play a lot for a reward that later on will be (comparably) easy to get.

Obviously you don’t care for the same things I do, and that’s cool. Just don’t come here and tell me that I’m wrong for thinking the way I do.

From now on I’m just going to keep in mind that this game doesn’t like playing fair when there is some really nice reward that will likely end up much easier to obtain in the near future.

          • Jordan Jackson

To be honest, that first Tempest was pretty terrible. Veronica was by far the hardest boss, and she was guarded by the hardest arrangement of potential enemies. It also lacked the triple score boost or the stat boosts on bonus units. The only reason I played enough to GET the seal in the first place is I needed something mindless to take my mind off of medical board prep, which was the other mindless task I was doing.

I can understand that you don’t think it’s fair that the really hard and tedious thing we did back then is now easy to do, but your argument essentially boils down to “It was hard for me, so it must be hard for you too.” Even if we adjusted it to 30,000 points to account for the shorter duration, the seal would still be significantly easier due to changes in the system.

Ultimately, the low price point of the seal is to make the game more fair. It allows people that were not able to effectively counter Veronica back then to have a shot. Even some really good players weren’t able to handle that Tempest. Heck, the only reason I was able to is my efforts to get Ike and then Ryoma yielded me a Young Tiki instead of the prize I wanted. Turns out, she was EXTREMELY useful.

It’s not so much that you’re wrong, but your attitude about it is what is getting you so much flak. You say that you’re all for not having power creep, but then you say that you want the thing that negates the power creep to be difficult to get. Ultimately, you want some mark of recognition for doing Tempest Trials 1 a minimum of 86 times. Your mark of recognition is the fact that you had Quickened Pulse for the last three months, which made it easier to get Xander and Camus especially.

If you want your mark of exclusivity, make Masked Marth +3. The only way to do that is to have been there at the first Tempest. Then you can lord her over other people and feel special. Otherwise, you essentially come across as an elitist, and that’s why you’re getting called out for it. This event is meant to balance the game because IS realized that making it so hard to get the first time was a mistake, and it only made the people that could get it that much better than everyone else. This event is an equalizer, and by definition that makes the game as a whole fair. If it does this at the expense of making those of us that spent HOURS getting Quickened Pulse the first time feel less special, then I would say that you need to reevaluate your life if owning a digital thing is what brings value to your life.

If you are bothered by the fact that the other three tempests have had mediocre rewards, then I can’t really offer you anything on that front. Tobin is still sort of useful in Arena Assault, but I’ll agree that Clive is little more than a potential supplier of horse buffs or a cheap way to pass someone Silver Lance+. You can at least take solace in the fact that the next Tempest Trial Mini will be giving people a cheap chance to score Tobin.

          • Did you delete your last comment? I was going to reply to it now since I didn’t have access to a PC earlier, but I can’t find it. Doesn’t matter much though, saved me a 20min write up haha.

          • Jordan Jackson

I didn’t delete any comments. I added a couple lines to the one above this one, but that’s it.

          • Jordan Jackson

Weird. I don’t see it either, but I don’t see where or if I was moderated.

          • That’s strange indeed. All I saw was that it was a relatively long post that I didn’t have time to respond to at the time. Don’t think you wrote anything worthy of deletion when I skimmed it through.
