Heroes: Version 2.2 Update Brings Many Updates, All Live Now And Incoming Love Abounds Banner

Summoners have been anxiously awaiting the incoming Version 2.2 update. It’s giving us quite a handful of delightful goodies. There are many surprises hidden amongst the pile of presents, starting with the Love Abounds banner, before getting to the Weapon Refinery upgrades and the slew of other features.

This is a fantastic 30th birthday gift for me!

The Love Abounds banner will feature special versions of Lilina (Green Mage Cavalry), Roy (Bow Cavalry), Hector (Axe Knight) and Lyn (Blue Mage Knight), and is available as of February 9 until March 8. Of course, a new Paralogue trio will also come, giving us many opportunities to score orbs for the inevitable summon sessions.

There will of course also be the new Grand Hero Battles, Tap Battle, Daily Maps, Special Training Maps and much more (plus some new maps & other things that haven’t yet been officially announced) coming, so definitely get that Stamina ready. Of course, our new Heroes come first:

Version 2.2 also gives us some neat Quality of Life updates, such as a change to the Wrath skill. It now gives +10 damage to Area of Effect/Pre-Combat skills, suck as Blazing Light and Growing Wind. Additionally, the manakete transformation now only applies once per map. Every other time, the manakete will automatically be a dragon.

Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon, will begin on February 9, and will run for two weeks. You’ll find this in the Events section of the Battle menu, as well as future Tempest Trials and future events. This Events section was added to consolidate things in the main Battle menu to make navigation more user-friendly.

Evidently, the upper-left icon will give us access to a new mode available during the incoming March Update. This event will contain maps that can only be played by Legendary Heroes and heroes with Conferred Blessings on them, so thank goodness that some of these new maps will offer Blessings as rewards.

The newly advertised Special Training Maps will be available as of February 9, featuring a rotation of Melee->Ranged->Bows->Magic->”The Workout”, featuring 5 difficulty options (From Lv. 5 to Lv. 34). These will be a great opportunity to train up some units in maps that will offer tons of EXP and SP collecting opportunities via reinforcements. Orbs and Blessings will be rewarded for the first clears of each map.

The next Squad Assault, Squad Assault 7, is available now, and will offer up a Squad Assault G Sacred Seal, boosting Defense by +1/+2/+3 depending on its level of forge.

We can also look forward to the Grand Hero Battle cycle staring on February 9 of Narcian->Navarre->F!Robin (Mystery Tactician)->Ursula->Lloyd->Michalis->Xander on a Monday->Sunday schedule, with new quests coming in for the Grand Hero Battles starting immediately. This means that Lloyd will be first to appear. Grand Hero Quests will be available for an entire year, so look forward to these!

Also, the Manakete battle transformation will only occur once per battle, per Manakete, helping speed along battles that you watch animations within.

Finally, the Heavy Blade and Iote’s Shield Sacred Seals are available for purchase from the Sacred Seal Forge, so if you missed them, now’s your chance to pick up the pair and see how useful they are in tandem with some of these new units.

Good luck and enjoy your new update, Summoners!

Special thanks to the folks at Gamepress,
for access to much of this information

Awakening Falcion: “Our Bonds give me strength!”.
So if there is ever a CYL like Robin they could give him/her Rally Spectrum that would work like PA!Azura’s Uror.

  • mrkisukes

I find it funny just how much shit people gave Camilla for having 3 alts already during the CYL2 voting and attributed that to why they didn’t want to see her win…yet nobody is complaining about Lyn now having 4 alts…fascinating.

Hector power crept himself, and Roy is going to be like Reinhardt. I did the calculations using neutral IVs and with Brave Bow+, Death Blow, Moonbow, and Quicken Pulse, he can barely ORKO VL!Ike so long as he doesn’t bulk himself up. He’s certainly going to pose a new threat when utilized in Horse Emblem. Speaking of Horse Emblem, Lilina is a better Cecilia.

    • Laggalot101

For what it’s worth, Cecilia still has the better defensive line. Honestly, I think Gunnthrá is still better than Lilina, but Lilina is definitely good nonetheless.

      • mrkisukes

What’s actually funny or unfortunate about Lilina is that she’s going to be a major tease for all the people going for Hector…I feel like I’m going to be one of those victims.

        • Nah, man, I believe in you, you’ll nail Hector first!
As for your original complaint, I found this interesting as well. I myself want like ten versions of Roy in the game, so I try not to complain about multiple variants of other Units for that very reason.

          • mrkisukes

Thank man, you’re getting close to your own Roy Emblem team, all that’s left ideally is a blue and green one for balance, and preferably if one was a mage. It would be particularly funny if Roy’s blue and green alts were also horse units so that Roy emblem was also horse emblem.

          • Rorse Emblem Confirmed?! I’d sink cash for that.

    • Shenai

I’ll happily complain about yet another Lyn, if you want. Then again I wouldn’t have wanted yet another Camilla either. At least for Hector and Lilina it’s the first alternate version.

      • mrkisukes

I’m simply pointing out the mass hypocrisy of people who hated on not just Camilla (though she received the brunt of it as she was in the lead) but the other popular ones like Azura. I understand why people wouldn’t want repeated version, but I understand why IS repeats them…money. What irritates me is the hypocrisy since I don’t see any of that complaining right now; when did the FE community become so toxic?

        • Shenai

I got it, just trying for some levity.
Toxic might be overstating things. Maybe just avoid reddit.

          • mrkisukes

These weren’t reddit posts, this was on twitter (ok, I understand that) and…serenes forrest? One of the last bastions for the FE community wasn’t safe from it.

          • Shenai

I didn’t really see any hate on here, but if you say so.

        • Kinan

I see absolutely no reason why Azura gets the hate

and Camilla completely robbed Hinoka of her New Year variant, it’s no wonder why people don’t want a 4th variant of her before both Ryoma and Hinoka can get their 2nd ones

        • Kemo Allen

The hate on Camilla is kind of reciprocal to how so many people like her because big tits (I’m not saying this is the only reason people like her, but I think that’s where a majority of her fans come from). Lyn and Azura don’t get as much hate because they aren’t immediately sexualized characters. Ironically people hate her because the love for was kind of toxic, but now the hate has become that way with the whole “thot” nonsense.

          • Sisyphe

I also think the fervor in the part of the Camilla fans contributes. It’s one thing to like her and another to think she’s the best ever and feel persecuted when others disagree. I mean, I have a soft spot for Faye, but you wouldn’t see me trying to make a scene of it

    • speedster

These two situations have different circumstances so there’s no hypocricy, rather a sigh of disappointment. I’m disappointed with how Azura and Lyn got extra seasonal variants, but they were both in banners that made sense for them to be in (I’m not justifying them being there, rather saying there’s logic in them being there). I’m less disappointed in Lyn than Azura because were getting 5 special heroes this time with 4 of them never having variants before as well as one being free to boot (Eliwood is my top lord so yay). I’d have been less disappointed with Camilla if she would have been in a Nohrian special banner, but she really had no place being in a Hoshidan banner. I’d understand Azura since she’d been raised in Hoshido for half her life, but Camilla stole Hinoka’s place. I’m not really giddy for any of these units to be honest (Roy and Lilina are pretty lackluster, Hector is basically Ayra and I want only Lyn since I lack blue mages). It’s the refinements and new weapons that excite me more.

      • Shenai

Isn’t it 3 without variants? We already have 2 Roys. Unless I missed someone.

        • speedster

Brave Roy is in the normal summoning pool. He got a brave variant because of votes

          • Shenai

Ah, so that’s what you meant.

          • Sisyphe

I think Brave variants are at least kind of different since we asked for those variants before we had any other variants. I don’t mind Lyn here, because I like the aesthetic and the Blazing Sword callback. Bride Lyn was a waste in my opinion; I really didn’t like that whole banner, so I guess I’m fine with people getting a variant, and then a Brave variant, and then we leave them alone for awhile

      • mrkisukes

I get the sentiment of Hinoka and Ryoma getting snubbed an New Year alt, personally I think the New Year banner should have been the Hoshidan siblings + Corrin like how the Nohrian summer banner should have been the Nohrian siblings + Corrin (which they were close to but still snubbed Camilla on). But I guess that’s not how IS operates. In the case of the New Year, Camilla can still make sense with it operating under the Revelations time line, so I have to disagree with Camilla not working in it. Does that mean I don’t think Hinoka and Ryoma got snubbed, no, like I initially stated.

But if you look at Lyn, this banner sorta makes sense with Lyn being the only shared romance between Hector and Eliwood, but it still feels contrived since it could easily have just been parent and child. But Lyn is popular and will make them money so they slapped her in. It’s similar to how inclusion in the Bridal banner, it sorta makes sense but is still contrived with there being plenty of candidates that make more sense. However that’s not the point of these seasonal banners, it’s not about making sense, it’s about pandering to the fans.

        • speedster

This banner seems to be Lycian noble themed, but I really didn’t want Lyn to be in since they could’ve made Lilina into the armored blue mage and Lyn already got her chance. If that would have been the case then I won’t pull for anybody at all.
I’ve always disliked Lyn shipping with anyone other than Rath so I somewhat dislike this banner because it tries to make a canon ship with Hector.
Roy himself is a harem lord and doesn’t have to be restricted to Lilina despite her loving him.

  • Laggalot101

Alright, not quite what I expected, and I really could’ve sworn it was gonna be Ninian in the image and not Lilina, but… well… that’s how it is. Beyond that, a lot of stuff and HOLY CRAP ALM AND RAVEN. Those refinements are terrifying. Bunch of other stuff I’m excited for as well.

  • scythegirl16

hey, is anybody else seeing Eliwood in the trailer as a lance unit? At first I just thought it’s Roy, but it’s Eliwood.

    • Diovani Estivalet

      New Tempest Trial reward.

  • Sisyphe

How many refinements do people have at this point? Because I’d really like use the new ones for Caeda (particularly), Raven, and Lucina, but I’ve found getting Divine Dew to be a chore. I can’t imagine when I’ll ever be able to afford the upgrades

    • Shenai

I’ve only refined one weapon with Divine Dew so far, but have enough for one more. If I also spend all my normal refining stones I would have enough for a third. But it’s very difficult choosing who to use it on.

      • Sisyphe

Ok then we’re in about the same place. I refined Minerva’s Hauteclere and buffed Julia’s Naga. I could probably also spend my stone for another one, but I don’t really have anyone to use the stones on at this point. Caeda’s Wing Sword is surprisingly potent though, and I want to be able to give it Flashing Blade…

        • Shenai

I refined Ephraim’s weapon first. I was thinking about Minerva or Jeorge, but now maybe I’d rather do Marth. It would make mine even better for TT if his HP pool were bigger (got Renewal + Reciprocal Aid on him) and he was a passive all round buffer like that. But I’m also eyeing up Raven. I’ve got a 4*+9 at the moment, and if I were to promote the next 4* I get and merge him back to the +9, he would be really quite good like that. 52/40 Atk/Spd without buffs or stat raising skills, at that point might put something like fury or LnD on him.

        • Shenai

… I replied to this earlier, but for some reason was marked as spam. This is the second time something like that has happened on serenes now… it’s kind of mystifying…

          anyway, trying again:

I refined Ephraim’s weapon first. I was thinking about Minerva or Jeorge, but now maybe I’d rather do Marth. It would make mine even better for TT if his HP pool were bigger (got Renewal + Reciprocal Aid on him, but he’s -HP +Spd) and he was a passive all round buffer like that. But I’m also eyeing up Raven. I’ve got a 4*+9 at the moment, and if I were to promote the next 4* I get and merge him back to the +9, he would be really quite good like that. 57/45 Atk/Spd without buffs or stat raising skills (with the refined weapon), at that point might put something like Fury or LnD (again) and Desperation on him.

My pity breaking 5* Caeda (the second one even…) is +Atk -Spd which is somewhat tragic for this upgrade. So she stays benched. (the first one was +HP -Atk…)

          • Sisyphe

Minerva is tough. She’s been powercrept pretty hard since her speed is only 33 without a boon or Fury, but obviously Refined Hauteclere Moonbow takes a chunk out of everything. I think you’ve got the right idea going with Marth unless you’ve got a Flier Emblem team you like. Jeorge is actually the only lower rarity unit I’ve never pulled (except Soleil now I guess), so I can’t speak on him.

Those Caedas are indeed rough. I happened to have a random +SPD/-HP one lying around, and while people seem to think +ATK is better, I’m hoping Flashing Blade will make up for it. I’m not totally sure what special to give her though.

I also have a +SPD/-RES Raven sitting at 4* and with the double LnD that gives him a 41/60/48/15/9 spread, which would probably still get him killed by anything red. I’m not sure how much work that’s doing over the Brave Set though. My guess would be that Fury is the compromise. It helps desperation anyway. But yeah, you would clearly have more experience with Raven than I would. I don’t know what to make of him right now.

          • Shenai

I only got a Minerva very late, so my Flier team has had a Cherche on it for the longest time. Now at 4* + 10 and with a Brave Axe+ courtesy of a pity breaking Raven I don’t really need Minerva for a Flier team. She’d be on the backup Flier team if anything, which is why I’ve held off refining her weapon so far. But it would be nice to switch it up every once in a while. I’ve got enough good fliers to make a second wing squad.

Ever since I promoted Marth to 5* recently he’s been doing extremely well for me. So I think he will definitely get priority over Minerva at least. The spectrum combat buff synergizes well with his role as healer/buffer and occasional green slayer in TT for me.
Jeorge was my first archer back in February of last year. I used him a lot until I got any better alternatives. Also recently promoted him to 5* but I’m still far from finishing him. Since I’ve got other archers now, who I suppose are arguably better, I guess he will have to wait a little longer. (funnily enough it’s that very first one I promoted, pulled him at -HP +Atk before any of us even cared about IVs)
Of the 4* available ones I think I’m only missing Sothe now. After almost a year I finally pulled a Klein a few weeks ago.

            Iceberg maybe?

My Raven is -HP/+Spd (I thought it was +Atk but I remembered wrong) and if I do what I mentioned he would be 4*+10 with 42/60/48/25/22 with Fury. Fury would definitely be the way to go. Raven could never take a hit in the first place, but a second LnD would absolutely make him too frail, as you said. And Fury + Desperation always synergize well. I’ve got Luna on him right now. Basilikos also accelerates cooldown so… I think I will definitely play around with this. So I guess that’s my divine dew planned… all I need is one more Raven.
For comparison with a Brave Axe+ 4*+10 Raven would be at 39/47/38/30/27 also with Fury. I think I prefer playing with the glassier one 😉 although both are probably quite fun. Since this is all before buffs. Well, I will get both a Brave Axe+ and Basilikos with my merge so I can test both. If he were to reliably quad when buffed to 42 speed with the Brave Axe+ one could even put something like Astra on him.

  • Diovani Estivalet

Berserk Armads? So… can normal Hector’s Armads receive a refinement in a future update?
Also, Eliwood has Rally Atk Def, Fire Boost and Goad Armor.
And what about the Armored Boots skill? Will it be a Tempest Trial reward? Armored Boots Sacred Seal?

  • Diovani Estivalet

I decided to refine Masked Lucina’s Falchion. She is +1, but now I am thinking to make her +3. I have a “normal” Lucina, but she is -Spd, and this is bad.
Also, I am a little disappointed with all Falchions refinements, because none of them have something extra against dragons.

    • Laggalot101

A topped-off Alm will decimate dragons with that Double Lion effect, though. It effectively turns Falchion into a 16 Might Brave Weapon. …That is still effective against Dragons and gets Renewal 3. Wew.

      • Diovani Estivalet

I agree, but having “If foe is a dragon, neutralizes foe’s bonuses (from skills like Fortify, Rally, etc.) during combat.” would be cool.
Also, I do not have Alm so… yeah…

        • To be honest, I expected Falchion to get shafted.

        • Kemo Allen

Chrom does like 70 to Fae without buffs, and an extra +6 Def on her doesn’t matter, Lucina should be able to take 1 hit from Adult Tiki and kill her in two hits especially with Bond Spectrum. The only thing with Alm is he would need watersweep to nullify counter attacks from dragonstone but otherwise the ignore buffs doesn’t matter much since they either one-shot or should be able to double. The only issue is Nowi which is understandable.

          • Jorge Adrian Cabrera

The funny thing is that, unless Nowi runs Triangle Adept, even with Steady Breath Alm one rounds her.

The power of Alm is incredible

  • Diovani Estivalet

Felicia with her plate is… pretty good. I never thought to see Felicia killing armored units without her special attack.

    • Sisyphe

Roughly speaking, what kind of build are you working with?

      • Diovani Estivalet

I didn’t make a build for her yet. She only has her place and Glacies. I still thinking what to do with her. She will not be part of my main team, but she will be a good unit for Arena Assaut.

        • Sisyphe

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking, or for anything with armor… I have no idea if we’d want ATK, SPD, or maybe RES. Glacies or Astra? Probably Fury, maybe Desperation. I don’t know. I’ve already chosen to build Caeda, so it’s going to be forever until I refine one or get the right boon

          • Diovani Estivalet

Yeah. My Felicia is +Atk -HP. She has 31 Ho, 40 Atk, 37 Spd, 18 Def and 35 Res. Desperation is a good option. I was thinking about Death Blow or Mirror Strike.

Glimmer could be another option for her Special, because of the 2 cooldown.

  • speedster

Slap to the face for everyone who +10 merged Hector.
Lyn is meh, but is honestly the only one I’d pull from this banner.
Lilina is irrelevant due to Cecilia.
    Roy is meh.
Guess who’s refining Alm’s weapon this week?

    • Sisyphe

Roy is basically archer Reinhardt. Probably won’t be as potent as actual Reinhardt, but he’s definitely most threatening after Hector. Lilina is probably also the best Blade tome user of the three green horses, so they all have a niche. Lyn is fine for budget players who don’t have the new armor skills to give away.

And do report back on Alm. He sounds frightening with Double Lion

      • speedster

The problem with Roy is that he’s limited to this banner as well as a future legendary hero banner. Cecilia is still the best cavalry green mage due to easy availability and merges allowing for a greater arena score.
Thanks! Wish you luck on this banner as well as I hope you get an Alm in the future.

        • Sisyphe

Ah I wasn’t thinking in terms of merges and availability. I see your point then. I would’ve thought the seasonal banners would be big for the more invested players, but maybe they’re only worthwhile if they have good skills, because of the exclusivity?

In any case, I’d love an Alm, though I’m having a hard time scrounging up the dew he would need.

  • speedster

    Happy birthday Elieson!

  • speedster

Just saw Eliwood’s stats and skillset. He might be the second best TT reward unit we’ve gotten.
