With S12’s release a few weeks back, it’s time to turn our attention to the next Fire Emblem Cipher installment. Cipher Series 13 will release in about two months on 28 June. It’s already shaping up to be an exciting set, so let’s take a look at what it has in store!
S13’s main focus is on Blazing Sword. Much of the set, and also a new Structured Deck, will feature characters from this game. The remaining cards will be split between Shadow Dragon and Fire Emblem Heroes. Head down below for a further look at news and art for the set, as well as pre-order links.
Blazing Sword
Kawade originally announced S13 during the Autumn 2017 livestream. However, we didn’t get to see any artwork until the following February! During the Winter 2017 Livestream, he finally kicked off the S13 art reveals with the main lords of FE7: Eliwood, Hector, and Lyn. As expected, it seems as if the main lords will play a large role in the coming set.
The other art revealed during this stream was for two new Cipher characters, Karla and Sonia.
Lyn made another appearance at the Cipher Sai events in early March. The text in the corner indicates that this art will be used for an S13 tournament promo card.
Finally, three more Blazing Sword characters appeared in the recent S12 pre-release livestream: Karel, Serra, and Dorcas. All three of these characters are somewhat more well-known now after their inclusion in Heroes.
Additionally, Blazing Sword will be featured in a ST deck, the first one released since S9 last year! This is the first time that a game will get an ST Deck after its Cipher debut. This may indicate that Cipher will continue to release new ST Decks occasionally, even if there are no new games. After all, it’s a good way to get new players playing the game.
Shadow Dragon
Shadow Dragon will also be getting some new cards in S13. The last time we got Archanean cards was way back in S4, so this is its first Cipher appearance in over two years! The first three art reveals include the main duo, Marth and Caeda, and also artwork for Horace, who is making his Cipher debut.
The S12 pre-release stream also showed off a second new art piece for Marth, as well as new art for Linde and Norne. It’s worth noting that Horace and Norne will be the second and third remake-only characters to make a Cipher appearance, after Athena back in S1. It’s likely we’ll see more of them this set as well.
Fire Emblem Heroes
The final game featured in S13 is Fire Emblem Heroes. Heroes made its first appearance in S10 last year, with cards focusing on the Heroes original characters. S13 seems to be following the same pattern, but this time focusing on the OCs for Book II. Our first look at their S13 inclusion included new art for Sharena and also art for Fjorm and Laevatein.
Two additional pieces were revealed last month, a new artwork for Alfonse and the first appearance of Loki.
Both Fjorm and Laevatein were also included as the preview promo cards included in S12 booster boxes. These cards use the character’s official artwork, but have the same text and abilities as their Cost 1 cards will have in S13.
Ad Images, Pre-Orders, & Further News
Advertisements for S13 began popping up in card shops last month. These promotional sheets don’t contain any new artwork or information, but they do show a little teaser image of what some of the cards will look like.
Based on the proportion of the cards in the image, it seems as if FE7 will get the half the cards in the set, with the other half evenly split between SD and Heroes.
Pre-orders for both S13 booster boxes and the ST deck are already available on AmiAmi.
This is all the information we have about the set now, but more will be coming in the near future! We’ll almost certainly get a Spring Livestream in May, and daily card reveals will probably begin around the same time.
As always, we’ll continue to share new information as we get it. In the meantime, if you’d like to discuss and speculate about S13, come join us in the Cipher subforum on the forums!
