Next Wave of Japanese Merchandise for February 2019

Who’s ready for another dealing of official Fire Emblem merchandise? Intelligent Systems sure are, because they’ve announced another wave of merchandise arriving in February 2019.

In case you missed it, new merchandise will also be arriving in December of this year and January of 2019. All of this stuff is exclusive to Japan, but you can always import them from sites like AmiAmi and CDJapan.

Anyway, time for the lowdown!

Tin Badges – 600 Yen each (excl. tax)

This time, only two new badges have been added: female Corrin and Xander. As usual, these 75 mm badges are great for wearing or just collecting.

Masking Tape – 800 Yen (excl. tax)

This new set is themed around Heroes, with two designs: Feh the messenger owl and various important/popular Heroes. Amusingly, Feh can be found in all rarities except 1★. Each tape measures 10 m when fully extended.

Clear File – 350 Yen each (excl. tax)

These are slim translucent file holders (A4 sized) that are probably less practical than they are collectible. This month, there are two designs: Raven and Lucius from Blazing Blade and Tibarn, Ulki and Janaff from Radiant Dawn.

According to the website, the theme for this month is “masters and vassals”.

Fire Emblem Pouch – 2,800 Yen each (excl. tax)

Finally we come to the wildcard: four very snazzy pouches that you could maybe use to store your fancy Fire Emblem pens and masking tape etc.

There are four different designs. All of them measure 200 (length) x 80 (height) x 30 (width) mm.

For additional pictures, please check out the sub-page on the official website.

Anyway, it’s great to see Intelligent Systems branching out and acknowledging the demand for cool Fire Emblem merchandise. Hopefully I’ll be back soon to report on the new merchandise for March 2019 (assuming there is some)!

I wonder how long we’ll have to wait for Intsys to start taking their merchandising seriously. They are losing so much money on not being able to even remotely keep pace with the demand. And when they release something, they usually use official artwork/feh cheebs we’ve all known for ages – that holds little value as a collectible. As for the chibi buttons, those are original at least, but every second vendor selling their fanmerch can do something visually more intriguing and creative.

Those pouches are the first really neat thing I’ve seen from them in a long time. Tape is nice too but then again, I’ve seen many fan-made that were much better.

Come one. Where are more figurines? Manakete, Grima, Laguz, Taguel plushies? The fans even create custom character plushies that look great! Metal keyrings with various motives such as Hoshido, Nohr, Askr, Embla, Nífl, Múspel emblems etc? Stickers, notebooks, folder files with NEW art? Come on, INTSYS, you don’t have to look further than Pokemon Company to get inspiration. Or your own fans… 🙁

I know what you mean, but I think IS are just testing the waters. FE has only gotten popular in recent years and it’s not as big as the likes of Pokemon, Mario, etc. Or even Animal Crossing and Splatoon. Plus the merchandise here are directly published by IS and they are a gaming and development company foremost. For figures and plush, we have to hope another company is interested in selling them and for IS to give em the license. That said, my memory is kinda bad and they may have self- published a figure before. Was it Camilla?
