The Darkness Within banner, its associated story chapters, and the matching Forging Bonds will go live this Friday, 10 May. Delthea’s GHB starts just a couple days later on 12 May.

Mareeta: The Blade’s Pawn:
  • Shadow Sword (Sword, Mt 16): Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). If unit’s HP ≥ 50% and unit initiates combat, unit can make a follow-up attack before foe can counterattack.
  • Luna (Special): Treats foe’s Def/Res as if reduced by 50% during combat.
  • Flashing Blade 4 (A slot): If unit’s Spd > foe’s Spd, grants Special cooldown charge +1 and deals +5 damage per unit’s attack. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack.)
  • Null Follow-Up 3 (B slot): Disables foe’s skills that guarantee foe’s follow-up attack and foe’s skills that prevent unit’s follow-up attack.
Berkut: Purgatorial Prince:
  • Kriemhild (Lance, Mt 16): If a bow, dagger, magic, or staff foe initiates combat and unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, unit can counterattack regardless of foe’s range and foe cannot make a follow-up attack, but after combat, if unit attacked, deals 20 damage to nearest ally.
  • Reprisal (Special): Boosts damage by 30% of damage dealt to unit.
  • Warding Stance 4 (A slot): If foe initiates combat, grants Res+8 during combat and inflicts Special cooldown charge-1 on foe per foe’s attack. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack.)
  • Odd Res Wave 3 (C slot): At start of odd-numbered turns, grants Res+6 to unit and adjacent allies for 1 turn. (Bonus granted to unit even if no allies are adjacent.)
Corrin: Wailing Soul:
  • Savage Breath (Colorless Breath, Mt 16): Grants Atk+3. Grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X. (Calculates X based on number of allies within 2 spaces of unit: 0 allies grants +6; 1 ally grants +4; 2 allies grants +2; ≥3 allies grants +0). If foe’s Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of the foe’s Def or Res.
  • Dragon Fang (Special): Boosts damage by 50% of unit’s Atk.
  • Atk/Spd Solo 3 (A slot): If unit is not adjacent to an ally, grants Atk/Spd+6 during combat.
  • Sudden Panic 3 (B slot): At start of turn, if any foe’s HP ≤ unit’s HP-1, and that foe is adjacent to another foe, inflicts [Panic] on that foe. [Panic] converts bonuses on foe into penalties through its next action.
Tiki: Torpid Dragon:
  • Razing Breath (Colorless Breath, Mt 16): Effective against dragon foes. Unit can counterattack regardless of foe’s range. If foe’s Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of the foe’s Def or Res.
  • Ignis (Special): Boosts damage by 80% of unit’s Def.
  • Brazen Atk/Spd 3 (A slot): At start of combat, if unit’s HP ≤ 80%, grants Atk/Spd+7 during combat.
  • Special Fighter 3 (B slot): At start of combat, if unit’s HP ≥ 50%, grants Special cooldown charge +1 to unit and inflicts Special cooldown charge -1 on foe per attack. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack.)
  • Solitary Dream (C slot): At start of turn, if unit is adjacent to only dragon allies or if unit is not adjacent to any ally, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit and unit can move 1 extra space. (That turn only. Does not stack.)

What a weird banner: another Corrin and another Tiki, but we got the Berkut alt everyone was expecting since he came and FREAKING MAREETA.
I’ve also noticed that they give Echoes characters by little drops. Two Celica alts, Kliff, Duma, Picnic akts, L!Alm and now alts of Berkut and Delthea, everything without a single Echoes themed banner.

    • dmurr

Echoes has a pretty limited number of characters, and we’ve gotten quite a lot of them, and most of the main ones. They’ve probably saving some so if they decided to do a full banner later they could.

  • Mason Klaus

This is a good banner, though I’m honestly confused about F!Corrin. Why’s she on here? She never really got possessed except in Warriors by Iago unless this is a nod to when she first transformed into a dragon after Mikoto was killed in front of her. I mean the other four I can understand cause they actually were possessed in some way, be it mind control (Y!Tiki and Delthea), cursed weapon (Mareeta) or giving up their soul and pretty much going batshit insane (Berkut). But I can’t think of anything for Corrin.

    • Big Klingy

Yeah, not sure why she’s here either. Also, her voice sounds very nonthreatening. Unfortunately, she shares a colour with Tiki, so “avoiding” her will be hard.

    • DJT7

Chapter 5 she rampages and can’t control her dragon form. When she transformed she was enveloped in a bunch of dark aura. Also at the final battle of revelation Anankos says he’s going to use Corrin’s body as a vessel. In Heirs of Fate it’s an alternate universe where Anankos won. Even though we don’t see Corrin(since customizations) from the Heirs of Fate it’s implied that Anankos left Corrin alive to uses them as a vessel.

      • Mason Klaus

Yeah chapter 5 is what I meant by Corrin transforming into her dragon form for the first time after Mikoto is killed in front of her. You might be right about it being when she first transforms, cause her line sounds non-threatening and more of her being scared than anything else.

        • DJT7

Yea that’s what I was thinking. She looks more scared and in pain instead of really brainwashed or malevolent

          • In the Japanese trailer she says “The beast’s impulse…” in a way that signifies that she is yet conscious of what’s going on with her. So that theory makes sense.

          • DJT7

Yep, and it has now been confirmed on the Meet the Heroes website that it’s chapter 5 Corrin although it’s implied that she didn’t get a dragon stone since her model and artwork doesn’t depict her with one.

    • JK Gamer

Keep in mind, the theme isn’t “possessed,” it’s “fallen.” Just because she wasn’t possessed doesn’t mean she’s not a darker version of herself.

      • Mason Klaus

True but most “fallen” heroes have been possessed by something, be it Grima taking over Robin, Celica being turned into a witch as a sacrifice to Duma or Hardin being controlled by the Dark Sphere. I think it can be agreed on that Corrin is “possessed” by her dragon blood since thats whats been confirmed as this being chapter 5 Corrin.

      • Sofa Man

The fact that it’s “Fallen” makes it even more confusing, because Fallen implies that they have “Fallen to the Darkness” which is very, very different than what happened with Corrin.

Even a Greil with Lehran’s Medallion would have been a weird pick for this banner.

  • Mareeta being introduced as an alt is the real crime.

    • dmurr

Is this actually an alt though? Same with Hardin

      • Well, it depends on how you see it. Since we don’t yet have FE11 Hardin I’m inclined to call his FE12 appearance in this game an alt. Despite being a canon aspect of his character, I still think the original version is the “real” version so to speak.

        • JK Gamer

Perhaps some alts aren’t “alts,” so much as extensions of the character. Mareeta and Hardin are both examples of this. This also applies to the Grimas, who most people agree aren’t Robin alts. The same thing could probably be argued for many Legendary Heroes, such as Roy, Ephraim, Eirika, and Hector, all of whom reflect the character at a later point in time than the original version, more specifically post-promotion. The alts with a basis in canon (which doesn’t include reclassing) are in a different category than the seasonal alts, which are either reclass inspired or out of nowhere.

          • When I think about alts, I don’t really think about the logistics or reasonings behind them. If they’re another version of a character we already have, they’re an alt. Likewise, I still consider Mareeta and Hardin to be in the alt category just as much as Doma possessed Celica is, despite their original appearances not being in the game yet.

I agree on Grima though, because putting him inside of Reflet is a convenient way of getting him in the game, in a similar way that Doma is.

      • Sofa Man

To be fair, regular Hardin is boring and forgettable. The only reason he’s remembered is his turn.

  • 100%B-Type

That means…next year is time for the RISEN KING!

  • mrkisukes

It’s been a while since our last good GHB (with prf weapon and all) unit so Delthea will probably be that. If I were to make a guess, it might be based on warping, which depending on how it’s handled, might be good like Aversa’s Night.
