Cipher S20 Weekly Recap: Daily Reveals & Byleth Magazine Promo Sneak Peek!

Welcome to a new installment of our weekly recap series of Series 20 of Fire Emblem Cipher, the Japanese trading card game. Launching as a new booster dubbed The Guiding Hand of Dawn, this set features characters from Fates, Path of Radiance, and Radiant Dawn.

In the weeks leading up to its March 19th release, the official Twitter account, @FEcipher, is revealing the latest cards each weekday, and we’ll be looking over them together as an overview of what’s to come!

The first day introduced new cards of Forrest, fashioning himself as both a Spear Fighter and Basara. He’s another one of the various Fates characters appearing this set who represents the theme of a unified Hoshido and Nohr.

Next, we got a look at upcoming cards of Lucia. We’ve seen the first one previously (along with another Lucia card not shared in this post), but her Rare card, which has Lucia as a Trueblade, is an all-new reveal. It’s been a long time since Lucia last appeared in Cipher, and her return once again chronicles her growth as a character across Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

Following that, we were shown a card of Leanne, another Rare card. We had gotten a sneak peek of its artwork some months back, but here is the card proper in all its crisp and fully detailed glory. The partial border and card foil due to its higher rarity lets you appreciate the brilliant artwork just a little bit more!

Lastly, two new cards of Nyx were showcased, one being a Super Rare Plus card. Seasoned as a Dark Falcon, this is the first time the Fates class has ever appeared in Cipher. The Dark Falcon card we see here is an edition autographed by Nyx’s voice actress, Juri Kimura. You can expect there to be a version without the autograph too.

Fans of Cipher can look forward to adding two copies to their collection of a new promotional card of female Byleth in next month’s issue of Nintendo Dream magazine available March 21st, as teased with its artwork in the previous week’s release. Byleth appears again in the Assassin class in this new card illustrated by Fuzichoco.

When the time comes closer to release, expect us to share a store link where you may import the magazine issue and the bundled Byleth card.

We’ll be closing our recap with an update about the Tryout & Tourney and Spring Dynamite Party events, which we previously talked about in an earlier post.

Sadly, these two March events have been officially canceled by Intelligent Systems in light of the coronavirus situation. This news comes following a previous announcement only about a week ago, in which the 3rd Hero-King Grand Prix event was also canceled for similar cause.

As a result of these additional event cancellations and the circumstance surrounding the epidemic, Intelligent Systems has launched a dedicated page on the Cipher official site detailing any new affected events.

Other official events, like the national qualifiers, are still scheduled as planned.

That’s all for this week’s recap! Check back next week for another round-up of Cipher news.
