Cipher S21 Weekly Recap: Sue claims Mulagir, artbooks restocked, and livestream guest update!

Welcome to a new installment of our weekly recap series of Series 21 of Fire Emblem Cipher, the Japanese trading card game. Launching as a new booster dubbed Tempest of Apocalyptic Flame, this set features characters from Three HousesThe Binding BladeThe Blazing Blade, and Heroes.

In the weeks leading up to its June 25th release, the official Twitter account, @FEcipher, is revealing the latest cards each weekday, and we’ll be looking over them together as an overview of what’s to come!

The first day introduced cards of Hector from The Binding Blade and The Blazing Blade, from his boisterous youth to his years as a father to his daughter Lilina (who will also be appearing in the set on her own). In particular, we also learn that the older Hector will be another one of the Rare cards of the set.

Next, we got a look at a new card of Anna from Heroes. Commander Anna has appeared various times throughout Cipher, but this will be her first card of the extravagant Hero Rare card rarity. Perhaps not as premium as the Super Rares which Alfonse and Sharena have gotten in the past, but it’s a great look nonetheless.

Following that, we were shown new cards of Balthus from Three Houses, of the Cindered Shadows side story. It’s sort of hard to tell because of his timeskip artwork being all over, but he just looks to be of Normal and/or High Normal card rarity. Of the Ashen Wolves, this makes Hapi the last remaining member to be shown (and is all but assured, according to Yuri’s card effect).

Afterwards, new cards were revealed of Ashe from Three Houses. Ashe has shown up in Cipher before, but he is now back and even takes on the role of a Sniper for his Rare card. That one fan who sent in mail for the previous livestream to talk about their excitement for Ashe must be pleased!

Lastly, new cards of Sue from The Binding Blade were showcased, one being a Super Rare card. Moreover, Sue’s SR is a long-awaited piece of the giant nine-card mural Cipher started back in Series 16!

Indeed, with Sue in place, there remains just two characters left to complete this recreation of Elibe’s Eight Legends. Who the final cards are, we will have to find out at another time and date!

In other news, Volumes 2, 3, 17, and 18 of the Cipher Artworks books have been restocked on the official online shop, so fret not if you were in the market but missed out on their initial stock.

Here’s an update about the next livestream scheduled for Saturday, June 20th at 4:00AM PT.

Intelligent Systems has booked special guest Toshiyuki Toyonaga (voice of Claude from Three Houses) once again to appear in the next episode! Along with Eri Suzuki (voice of Emma from Cipher, Delthea from Echoes, and Soleil from Fates), they’ll help deliver the latest Cipher news among other topics, including a pack opening ceremony of the brand new booster.

And that wraps up this week’s recap! Check back here next week for another round-up of Cipher news.

This update is part of the grand finale for Cipher, as it was previously discussed that 2020 will be the final year of new product releases. We will be sticking to the very end to follow what’s new with the trading card game and hope you will join us too!
