Fire Emblem Engage: Yunaka, Griss & Mauvier Tidbits via Twitter

Whoa, the official Fire Emblem Twitter sure isn’t slowing down… Today’s Fire Emblem Engage info covers the remaining members of the Four Hounds, plus one very mysterious lady.

We’ll start with the mysterious lady first, since the Four Hounds already have profiles on the official site, covered here.

Her profile:

Yunaka (VA: Fairouz Ai) is a mysterious woman who you meet on your travels. She’s cheerful and energetic and easily gets along with people she’s just met thanks to her friendliness.

If you missed it, she briefly appeared in the Divine Dragon Awakens trailer, towards the end. Later, we learned her name from the Engaging with Emblems trailer.

I wasn’t sure which nation to place her and was hoping her profile card would shed some light, but nope!

A battle featuring her:

The map is the ruins one, recently featured in the battle preparations showcase, covered at the end of Celica’s analysis. It’s the stage of a paralogue, titled “The Secret Seller”.

Yunaka is a Level 7 Thief (Covert) with an Iron Knife, plus an unusable staff and a Vulnerary in her inventory. The first bit shows her opening a door without a key. Non-Thief characters must attack (and break) the door to open it.

Some more info about doors:

Doors can be attacked and destroyed to open new paths. Thieves can also use the “Door Key” command to open doors without needing to attack them, which can be handy in maps with many doors.

Chloé is approaching a door here. The map appears to be the Firenese castle seen in Clanne’s showcase etc.

The next bit shows Yunaka fighting a sword-wielding thief (not the class). Nearby are Framme, Etie and Céline. These are the same allies from the battle preparations showcase, but positioned slightly differently.

Anyway, Yunaka criticals the thief, but they survive this time.

However, foes struck by daggers become afflicted with poison.

Almost forgot, similar to FE Fates and FE Heroes, daggers have 1~2 range (well, the Iron Knife at least). Bit unsure why they made Yunaka attack at 1 range, although maybe it’s because they wanted a more dynamic-looking fight?

Some more info about poison:

Daggers, which Thieves are proficient with, can inflict poison when dealing damage. When attacking a poisoned foe, you’ll deal more damage than usual. If you hit a poisoned foe with a Dagger, the potency of the poison will increase. Poison is a dangerous ailment that persists until you use a Restore staff or Antitoxin.

We’ve seen poison in earlier footage and even poison stacks in Byleth’s overview. However, it’s good to know how poison stacking works. One of the foes here has 3 stacks of poison!

The map is the night time fog of war one, seen in Céline’s showcase etc.

A dialogue scene featuring Yunaka:

Yunaka: Sob… I can’t believe I made such a blunder…

Alfred: Pardon me.

Yunaka: !?

Alfred: May I ask what’s troubling you, to make you cry like this?

Yunaka: ……..

Yunaka: No……

Alear: You must be surprised. We’re sorry if we startled you…

Yunaka: No way—! Help is heeeeere—!

So that’s where that animation came from.

To break things up, some info on reinforcements:

During battles, enemy reinforcements may appear. They typically appear from forts or the edge of maps, so exercise caution around those areas.

The guy calling reinforcements is Rodine (Rhodan in the Japanese version), likely the boss. He’s calling Corrupted soldiers to appear from the forts.

The map is the first Firenese one with bridges, seen in Marth’s showcase etc. The allies on the map are the usual suspects: Alear Engaged with Marth, Chloé, Boucheron, Alfred, Vander and Framme.

On to the Four Hounds, starting with Griss’s profile:

Griss (VA: Kenjiro Tsuda) is a loyal member of the Four Hounds, who plot to resurrect the Fell Dragon. A violent and utterly deranged wielder of magic.

Here’s a brief clip featuring him:

His dialogue is from this cutscene shown in the recent story trailer. All of the Four Hounds make a remark.

Griss’s comment follows after Zephia’s; the “dragon” he’s referring to is Zephia, who’s descended from the Demon/Mage Dragon Clan. From his wording, the other three Hounds are merely humans.

Mauvier’s profile:

Mauvier (VA: Tomoaki Maeno) is a member of the Four Hounds, who plot to resurrect the Fell Dragon. He’s a loyal, honest and simple warrior.

A brief clip featuring him:

Mauvier’s self-introduction occurs last, after Marni’s.

Minor spoilers, but we know from the leaks that Mauvier is playable. Besides that, he’s appeared on the map a couple of times as a playable lance/staff cavalry.

In the one piece of leaked dialogue, Vander proclaims that Lumera would’ve accepted Mauvier if she were still alive. That makes me wonder if Mauvier was directly or indirectly involved in her death.

Speaking of Lumera, Nintendo of America shared a Twitter post about Lumera.

It appears to show the timeline of Lumera’s death.

All of these screenshots appeared in the story trailer, but some were out of order.

One of my guesses was right: the robed mage casts magic to attack Alear. However, the scene where I thought Alear was wrestling with Lumera/the divine dragon is actually Lumera getting in the way of the attack. Like another mother from a fairly recent FE game…

After that, Lumera perishes, but not before handing Alear the Emblem ring for Sigurd.

One of my wild guesses is that the robed mage could be Veyle, who’s shown to be skilled with magic. However, if she’s the one who killed Lumera, I really wonder what her goal is…

Lumera’s death seems to occur at the end of Chapter 1 or thereabouts, so it’s something you learn early on.

The Prologue looks to be Alear and Vander reuniting with Clanne and Framme (as seen here). I think the next chapter is the hallway at night, when Alfred and co arrive as reinforcements (as seen here). Which then leads to Lumera’s death. There could be a chapter in-between those two though.

(Also, there may be a Premonition chapter before the Prologue.)
