Slightly different combat video via Nintendo Today.

Profile

We got our first proper look at Diego back during Nathan’s showcase (pictured left). He later appeared during the Direct (pictured right).

In Lysander’s showcase (and Lilian’s), Theodora’s group is fighting Har Hali warriors in a foggy map.

In the media previews, Diego is an enemy during an early Theodora map. Also from the previews, it was possible to deduce that Diego was Orchel’s bodyguard.

Orchel: Diego, if I’m not mistaken, the Damascar Kingdom is your…

Diego: The Damascar Kingdom is indeed the common motherland of all the forest tribes including Haru Hari, but it’s been many hundred years since its annihilation. Right now, I feel nothing towards it… I say that, but to be honest, I’m glad we’re the western army. If it were the other way around, I’d probably be a little upset.

Orchel: No matter who you are, your home and motherland are your foundation… They’re not so easily discarded.

This scene seems to follow from the one in Nathan’s showcase. Dietrich, Orchel and Talimun are representing the Kingdom of Damascar in a recreation of a historical battle against the Dagdan imperial army.

From the media previews, we learned (spoilers in the link) that Saramis and Damascar share the same ancestors. Similarly, we learned that Saramis and the forest clans follow the same rule of banning written language. So it’s not surprising that the forest clans are also related to the Damascar people.

What’s new is that Damascar is a kingdom that’s long gone. Originally I thought the historical battle was the Kingdom of Damascar invading Dagda and the imperial army fighting back. Instead, was it the other way round? Did the imperial army invade Damascar and annihilate it? This could explain Diego’s mixed feelings.

Gameplay

Twitter video 1st half

Diego’s a Hunter. It has a proficiency exp bonus for Sword, Bow and Infantry.

Diego is Level 10.

Map is the fight with the Palma Fighters, when Leda teams up with Orchel and Anatolia. Leda’s team includes Buccar, Sirocco, Mu, Olympia and Sofia (brown haired tome wielder). Orchel has Diego, while Anatolia has Sha Lan as usual.

Diego is carrying an Iron Bow, Venin Sword and Iron Sword.

His foe is a Palma Fighter, who’s also a Hunter with an Iron Bow. Diego has a Bow Prowess skill.

Twitter video 2nd half

Map is the fight against the Aragonian soldiers, which is the one from the conversation scenes. Most of the units are scattered around, but Kiroc can be seen near the bottom.

Diego is Level 15, carrying a Zanbato, Iron Bow and Iron Sword. Zanbato is D rank and has 20 uses for combat arts.

His opponent is an Aragonian soldier in the Charioteer class. Diego has Sword Prowess Lv 1, Swordfaire(?) and something that’s too blurry. Charioteer has the skill it usually has.

Near the top right corner, there’s an Elephant Rider charging up an attack(?).

Nintendo Today

Same map as the Zanbato half, but Diego is attacking an Elephant Rider instead. Sadly, Diego lost his third skill. Meanwhile, his opponent has War Elephant Boots.

In the Japanese video, the same Elephant Rider is stunned. But only two of its four barriers have been broken.

Also Diego is Level 18 instead of 15. It can’t be because of a different path, because Dietrich is the only protagonist here.

Ursula

Talimun’s second-in-command

English VA: Amelia Tyler | Japanese VA: Anna Yamaki

The manager of Vandahl Trading, one of Dagda’s top merchant guilds. Her authority is second only to Talimun, the chief manager. She meticulously manages the guild’s finances and often scolds Talimun for his excessive spending.

Likes: Poetry, flowers in the shade, counting money

(Original post)

The manager of Vandahl Trading. Her business acumen allows all units to use the Storage command.

Likes: Poetry, animals, flowers in the shade, counting money

Interests: Reading, drawing pictures

(Original post)

A scene between her and Talimun, who’s interested in a certain fell blade. Although Ursula tends to be at the mercy of her boss’s whims, deep down, they share a strong mutual trust.

(Original post)

During battle, Ursula’s personal skill “Merchants’ Manager” lets her and nearby allies retrieve items from Storage. This allows them to flexibly adapt to the situation, even during unusual battles.

(Original post)

Profile

As expected, Ursula is Talimun’s second-in-command.

Curiously, she has the same English and Japanese voice actress as Kalla. Kalla is the Patron-Huntress and widely supports the arts. Ursula is frequently shown fighting with bows and one of her interests is drawing pictures.

That said, it could be a coincidence. Ursula has the Crest of the Beast, while Kalla has the Crest of Dominic, like Leda.

Talimun: Ursula? So anyway, how much liquid cash do I have for making purchases right now?

Ursula: We’ve been on the road all this time, so between taxes, wages and repairs to the Zlatan… Putting all of that into consideration, I believe the company can afford to use this amount.

Talimun: …Alright, Dietrich, I’ll pay you 3.9 million gold for that sword.

Ursula: Talimun?! That’s 3 times our limit! Not even you can just-

Talimun: The extra comes from my heart. This kind of fellow won’t budge if we don’t take on some risk.

Credits to SatsumaFS via Reddit

I had a good laugh watching Talimun try to buy Dietrich’s Hero Relic off him.

Something that caught my interest. The Zlatan may be the name of their ship–and Ursula also mentions that it needs repairs. Long shot, but could it be the ship that Dietrich travelled on and was attacked by a sea monster? Could be unrelated though.

Gameplay

Ursula’s a Rogue. It can pick locks and move easily through forests. Has a proficiency bonus for Sword, Bow and Infantry.

Ursula is Level 22.

Map is the battle versus the Sisters of Bragança. This is on Leda’s path. Leda’s party includes Sirocco, Mu, Catania (blonde Ornius Rider), Buccar, Olympia and Jasmine (female axe user). Cai has Tialla, while Talimun has Ursula.

In the media previews, Jasmine seems to be the leader of the Palma Fighters.

Longbow is 2 range and enables the Deadeye combat art. That’s what Ursula used in the June trailer.

Cleansing Blade. I called this a Purifying Sword in Talimun’s showcase. It negates the opponent’s Underworld Boon, which halves damage unless the attack is effective. So this should deal normal damage.

Very handy because the Sisters seem to have summoned Risen Dead.

Ursula has 6 skills/effects. 2nd looks like Sword Prowess. 3rd is Crest of the Beast. Two Swordfaire like icons–one of them is Cleansing Blade. Plus a buff from Talimun. Opponent has Axefaire(?) and Axe Hit +3. Normally it’d have Underworld Boon too, but it’s been cancelled.

Cleansing Blade effect triggers at the start of combat.

Gaitz

Ally of Bertrand.

English VA: J. Michael Tatum | Japanese VA: Ryōkan Koyanagi

A skilled martial artist with both wisdom and courage, who fights as a gladiator at Dagsion’s Arena. He trained at the eastern land of Sai and has extensive combat experience.

Likes: Tea from Sai, Ferghanan horses, calligraphy, practicing martial arts

(Original post)

A warrior trained in the eastern lands who carves a path to victory with exceptional swordsmanship.

Likes: Tea from Sai, Ferghanan horses, dueling, calligraphy

Interests: Brewing tea, practicing martial arts

(Original post)

Gaitz has exceptional martial prowess, having trained rigorously since he was young. He’s also quick to sense the danger that Dietrich presents.

(Original post)

Slightly different video from Nintendo Today.

Profile

Gaitz is the man standing next to Bertrand while they’re facing off against Dietrich and Fabio. Oddly, Gaitz’s profile doesn’t mention anything about Bertrand.

Of note, Gaitz trained at the eastern land of Sai. The Killing Edge’s description states that it was created using Eastern craftsmanship. It could also be where Sha Lan, Nezha and Yang Jie come from.

Gaitz: Many people fear the White-Maned Demon’s strength, and get the wrong idea about his true nature. If you ask me, there isn’t a man more pleasant and interesting. But you might not understand until you fight by his side in the arena.

(Later)

Gaitz: …I see. Indeed, he is even more beautiful than they say. But more than that, he has a dangerous aura around him. It’s as if his whole body is made of blades.

Credits to SatsumaFS via Reddit

Small detail, but in the Twitter video, Mikaela and Peppe are standing near each other. This is during the 3rd Qualifiers.

In the Nintendo Today video, the objective is to “depart for the Isle of Sorrows”. This occurs during the previous month.

The second half of both videos is the same. It seems to show the same scene where Dietrich, Fabio, Bertrand and Gaitz are inside the Arena.

Unlike at the beginning of the Heroic Games, Bertrand has his red body markings, which he also has during his clash with Leda.

Anatolia

One of your rivals.

English VA: Dawn M. Bennett | Japanese VA: Arisa Ogasawara

A girl in white who fights to save her people. Known as the “Mystical Bride” due to her appearance. Has a cool or perhaps emotionless personality, which can accidentally infuriate others.

Likes: Hexagram divination, round objects, martial-arts training

(Original post)

A young Mediator fighting to save her people. Skilled in energy-flow-based martial arts and dodging.

Likes: Hexagram divination, round objects

Interests: Focusing her mind, martial-arts training

(Original post)

Anatolia runs a fortune-telling shop at Dagsion. She has a reputation for highly accurate fortunes, and there’s always a line of people outside her shop.

(Original post)

During battle, in addition to long-ranged attacks with her portable firearm “Salamander”, she can also handle close-quarters combat with her Qi-powered martial arts. Furthermore, she can wield uncommonly seen magic.

(Original post)

Slightly different combat footage from Nintendo Today.

Profile

Already mentioned earlier, but Anatolia’s faction, Brides of the Pale Raven, is somehow tied to Eshmel, the Herald of the Pale Raven.

Her Nintendo Today profile potentially reveals a big secret. She’s a Mediator, which–according to the Wccftech preview–is a genetically engineered servant of the gods, just like Eshmel (and potentially Troy too).

Anatolia: What would you like to know? I can divine anything for you.

Theodora: Let’s see… I’m curious how my battles will go. Give me a reading on the winner of the Heroic Games.

Anatolia: Hexagram 47, Oppression… A hexagram that signifies great difficulties. At the very least, you will not be the victor. You will not reach the end of the battles. It means your possibilities are closed off.

Theodora: …What did you say? Are you looking to start a fight?

Anatolia: You would like to fight? However, I believe I would win.

Theodora: Same here. On my shoulders rides the hopes of one million citizens.

(Later)

Anatolia: Here in the capital Dagsion, using the rich sources of water for various purposes is the norm. There are several wells in my village… But the supply is lacking, and we are often forced to ration water. When I fulfill my duty, I will make it so that everyone can live without worrying about water anymore.

Credits to SatsumaFS via Reddit

Likewise, most of the fortune telling conversation was available from the Japanese website.

Anatolia seems very confident in her fighting skills. No wonder, since she managed to outpower Dietrich in the futuristic ruins.

Anatolia’s fortune telling shop is actually somewhere you can visit. Next to Anatolia are Dadao (this guy when Dietrich is fighting Anatolia at the Heroic Games) and Sha Lan (woman with closed eyes to the right of Anatolia here).

Some interesting info about Anatolia’s home. On the Japanese website, she claims to have come from the West, presumably outside Dagda. From the media previews, it sounds like she comes from the Kingdom of Damascar, which was founded by the ancestors of Saramis.

Update: From Diego’s showcase, we know that the Kingdom of Damascar doesn’t exist any more, so it’s not that.

Gameplay

Twitter video 1st half

Anatolia is a Diviner here.

Anatolia is Level 9. She has a Celestial Wells Blaze gauge, just like Eshmel.

The map is the fight against the Thundercloud Knights, when Cai, Dietrich and Anatolia team up. Got all the usual suspects.

Seems to be Cai’s path. Cai’s group includes Tialla, Peter, Guzran and Noctula. Dietrich has Fabio, while Anatolia has Sha Lan.

Update: Anatolia has access to usable Blaze Arts. This was shown in some of the media previews. It’s an area attack that damages all foes and obstacles in range, the range increasing with each tier.

Anatolia has 4 skills. 2nd is Magic Basics (Mag and Res +1), 3rd is Brawling Prowess and last is Fistfaire(?).

Twitter video 2nd half

Anatolia is Level 7, so this is slightly earlier.

Map is the fight against the Forgotten Alcor soldiers, when Theodora teams up with Talimun and Anatolia.

Anatolia has a new spell, Glass Wheel, which targets the user’s physical defence (instead of magical defence) and is effective against Flying.

Anatolia only has 2 skills. Oh right, she’s not using Gauntlets this time.

Theodora’s group includes Bonaventure, Tobias, Lysander, Lilian and Sofia. Anatolia has Sha Lan. Off-screen, but we know from other footage that Talimun has Ursula.

Nintendo Today

Thundercloud Knights battle, but Anatolia is Level 4. Seems to be Dietrich’s path, since Mikaela is here. Normally he’d only bring Fabio.

Anatolia’s inventory in English.

Each side has 1 skill each. Anatolia just has her personal (presumably). She doesn’t even have Magic Basics. Her opponent, which is an Armored Knight instead, has Axefaire(?).

Orchel

One of your rivals.

English VA: Erin Yvette | Japanese VA: Kaede Hondo

A mysterious girl serving at Credna’s Temple at the upper levels of Dagsion. Always conceals her face behind a distinctive cat mask. Although she’s innocent and treats everyone with kindness, she’s somewhat naïve and oblivious.

Likes: Animals, cleaning, doing laundry, cooking

(Original post)

A maiden whose formidable form contains mysteries. Very strong, but barred from some soldier classes.

Likes: Animals, listening to music, cleaning, doing laundry, cooking

Interests: Caring for plants, reading

(Original post)

A scene between her and Theodora, the Queen of Saramis. In this situation, you could say they’re equally suspicious.

(Original post)

Although Orchel excels at wielding white magic, she also possesses strength that surpasses most men.

(Original post)

Slightly different combat footage from Nintendo Today.

Profile

Orchel is a priest at Credna’s temple. Credna is the god wearing glasses who developed a certain technology.

It would explain why Orchel has the crest of Noa, because that’s Credna’s associated crest (he’s furthest to the right).

The bit about Orchel being barred from certain classes is intriguing. This implies you can eventually recruit (and reclass) her, although I’m not too surprised.

Conversation

Theodora: I lost em… Where did they disappear to? Oh no, someone’s here.

Orchel: Oh! Who are you? Why are you here? I get it! You’re a thief, aren’t you?

Theodora: No way! Also, you look way more suspicious.

Orchel: Oh, even if you’re not a thief, regular citizens can’t enter the temple without permission!

Theodora: What about you? Aren’t you also trespassing?

Orchel: I’m affiliated with the temple. See, I have my priestess mark here.

Theodora: …So you were a priestess. However, don’t lump me with regular people. I am the queen of Saramis, Theodora Sergio Sapangren.

Orchel: How could someone claim to be royalty on a first meeting? Unbelievable!

Theodora: What about you?! To what end do you wear that ridiculous mask?

Orchel: That’s rude! I’m not messing around! This has a long story behind it, and I can’t take it off in front of others!

Credits to SatsumaFS via Reddit

The last part of this conversation was available from the Japanese official site.

Theodora seems to be chasing someone and ends up bumping into Orchel. The two then accuse each other of being suspicious individuals.

Orchel states she has a priest’s mark. She doesn’t point anywhere, but presumably it’s the Crest of Noa on her chest.

Gameplay

Twitter video 1st half

Orchel is a Diviner here. Interestingly, she seems to be considered Armoured in every class. Probably because she’s an Automaton (more about that later).

Map is the same as in Bonaventure’s showcase. This may be Yu Phas’s temple, judging from the unidentified statue, which resembles Yu Phas from the mural.

When she casts her magic circle, the Crest of Gautier/Diadem of Duality appears, which means she has it in some form. Originally I thought it was from cursed equipment, but she seems to have none. So it’s likely her innate crest.

However, I’m not sure if it’s a natural crest. So far, the Crest of Gautier has always appeared red and black–and it’s generally tied to a cursed equipment or object. Examples of cursed equipment include Lakshashi’s Iron Fan. Examples of cursed objects include Cai’s hand gem or Theodora’s arm.

Other crests appear white, such as Cai’s Crest of Aubin/Diadem of the Apostle. So I assumed those were natural crests. But the only way to know for sure is if a white Crest of Gautier or a red/black non Crest of Gautier appears.

Orchel is Level 2, equipped with Seraphim. She’s a guest unit alongside Diego, Loretta and Seteth. The BRCDEvg preview shows a bit more of this map. Seteth has the Spear of Assal for example.

Also, Orchel has a unique Blaze Gauge meter, with a gear icon. This is for certain units (big spoiler). In other words, Orchel is an Automaton, presumably created by Credna. However, she’s incredibly complex for a simple Automaton.

Besides that, this is Theodora’s path.

Orchel’s inventory. She has no cursed weapons. Actually, it’s possible she has a cursed non weapon, like a shield. Although my gut feeling says no.

Orchel’s foe is a Thief. Different enemies from Bonaventure’s showcase. Actually, the map layout is slightly different. So this is likely the same map, but during different parts of the game. In Bonaventure’s showcase, he’s Level 13. So it must be later on.

Orchel has three skills, including the Crest of Gautier/Diadem of Duality.

At the start of combat, Orchel triggers the middle skill, Momentum Prediction.

Twitter video 2nd half

Orchel is Level 10, with the same inventory.

This is the battle against the Palma Fighters, when Leda teams up with Anatolia and Orchel.

Orchel has 5 skills now. She’s swapped Momentum Prediction for Axe Prowess, gained Axefaire(?) and also receives a buff from Diego. Her opponent seems to have Swordfaire.

Nintendo Today

Same map, different positions.

Leda’s team includes herself, Buccar, Mu, Sirocco, Olympia and Sofia. Anatolia has Sha Lan, while Orchel has Diego.

Same as before, but Orchel is using the Spike combat art. Also, she’s not adjacent to Diego, so she doesn’t receive his buff.
