Navigation Support Basics Support List Support Growth

By fighting together and interacting, characters can develop support relationships (or “bonds”), which can lead to improved ability in combat, amongst other things…

Building Supports

To raise a support relationship, two characters must first be compatible with each other (e.g. check the support list). Compatible pairs can earn support points via these methods:

Action Points
Fight an enemy with a Support Unit present (e.g. while paired up) +6/9
Fight an enemy while adjacent to an ally (not the Support Unit) +2/9
Use a staff on or dance for an ally +2/9
Activate a Dual Strike or a Dual Guard (random chance) +2/9
Pair up and trigger an event tile (random chance) +1
Converse in the Barracks (random chance) +1
Use a “Seed of Trust” item while paired up +1

At the end of each map, support points are rounded to the nearest integer (0 is treated as an integer in this case). Additionally, each pair can gain a maximum of 3 support points per map.

Furthermore, if a character has gained support points with multiple characters, the support points are reduced to 2 for the pair with the second-highest points, 1 for the pair with the third-highest points and 0 for pairs with less points.

If there is a tie, priority is given to characters higher up in the in-game support list.

Finally, should a character in a pair fall in Casual mode, that pair forfeits all points gained during the map.

(Note that points obtained from event tiles or Seeds of Trust are not bound to these two rules. E.g. you can gain up to 4 points with one Seed of Trust used.)

Support Levels

When enough support points have been earned (the exact amount varies according to the pair and the support level), a support conversation between the two characters can be viewed outside of battle, which increases the support relationship by one level. The support levels start from zero and then progress to “C”, “B”, “A” and finally “S”.

Every character can have any number of support relationships up to “A”, but only one “S” support level with an opposite gender character (except the character’s siblings or children).

Support Level Bonuses

The support level affects the stat bonuses for the Dual and Pair Up systems (please follow the links for further details).

Marriage

When two opposite gender characters reach an “S” support level, they will marry and their children may join in later chapters.

Your Avatar has the perk of being able to support with any playable character and hence marry any playable character as long as he/she is the correct gender. In addition, once your Avatar reaches an “S” support level with a character, you can view a special confession illustration unique for each character.

Chrom’s Forced Marriage

Due to plot reasons, if Chrom isn’t married by the end of Chapter 11, he will automatically marry the female character (Lissa excluded) whom he shares the highest support level with (A > B > C > none).

Special Case 1: If Chrom has obtained at least 2 points with Olivia (after rounding to the nearest integer) and hasn’t obtained a C support level with any of his other marriage candidates, he will marry Olivia.

Special Case 2: If Chrom hasn’t gained at least 1 points (after rounding) with any of his candidate and/or if all of his candidates are married to other men, he will marry a nameless village maiden.

In the case of equal support levels (and if neither of the special cases apply), Chrom will marry the candidate with the least support points required for the next support level (after rounding).

Total Points Required For Each Support Level

Character C B A S
Sumia 2 6 10 14
Sully 3 7 11 16
Maribelle 3 7 11 16
Avatar 4 8 13 18
Olivia 4 8 13

Finally, in the case of equal support points (and, again, if neither of the special cases apply), the priority goes: Sumia > Sully > Maribelle > Avatar > Olivia.
