This week, an official soundtrack for Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia was announced! It includes five CDs packed in a three-sided digipack and a bunch of other goodies, too. Front and center on the digipack is some gorgeous new artwork of Alm and Celica by the Echoes official artist, Hidari.

  • Five postcards with artwork of Alm and Celica
  • Stickers of various Echoes characters
  • An Alm Cipher promotional card

The OST comes out on 25 October with an MSRP of ¥5,300. International pre-orders are currently up on CDJapan and Amazon Japan. A full track-list can be found below.

Echoes: Nintendo Dream Interview from May 2017

Back in May, Nintendo Dream conducted a post-launch interview with the developers of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Thanks to Kirokan, this interview has now been translated into English.

In the interview, the developers reflect on the player feedback received after launch and discuss how certain design choices were made, such as the inclusion of new characters and Alm becoming left-handed.

We were incredibly anxious due to development limitations, as well as wondering whether the newer fans of the series would be accepting of this game. So after seeing the great response the game got, well, it was a relief!

–Toshiyuki Kusakihara

They even briefly mention Fire Emblem Switch and touch on some Fire Emblem Heroes-related trivia.

With the experience and “know-how” gained from Awakening and Fates, we attempted to make [the people] in both this game and the next one on Switch closer to realistic proportions and movements.

–Toshiyuki Kusakihara

Whereas really, the FEH side just wanted another archer unit [with Faye].

Fire Emblem Highlighted Thrice in Behind The Voice Acting 2016 Awards

Behind The Voice Actors is a site that not only collects data on the various voice actors for movies and TV shows, but also for video games. If you’re unfamiliar with their site, it’s a pretty informative spot to check out and it’s quite easy to navigate, very much like IMDB and its movie/actor database.

Fans of the more recent Fire Emblem games will be very aware of the presence of voice acting. Awakening was a pretty ground-breaking game in the Fire Emblem franchise for this, as it gave virtually every character some sort of voice direction (whereas Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn only featured some characters, and we won’t look at the Smash Bros games as official Fire Emblem games). This past year, Fire Emblem Fates really pushed the envelope, giving fans some great voice acting along with a pretty popular trio of games to boot.

The crux of this is to highlight the awards won by several voice actors and actresses in the 6th Annual BTVA 2016 Awards, which this year, included many voices that worked on the games winning awards for other roles, as well as three winners that slated their spots on the top for their Fire Emblem voicework! Of note, Rena Strober, Matthew Mercer and Cam Clarke won in their respective categories, for their performances of Corrin (male), Shigure and Azura in Fire Emblem Fates!

Show your support by paying a visit to their respective Twitter accounts (Strober, MercerClarke) and letting them know how you feel. Rena is already a regular on Serenes Forest, but it never hurts to say hello!

Echoes: Valentia Out-of-Bounds Video Series

This is a small heads up for those who don’t frequent the forums or the Fire Emblem side of Reddit or Youtube.

Recently I’ve been working on a short video series related to Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, dubbed Valentia Out-of-Bounds.

In the videos, I visit several locations from the game–from Ram Village all the way to Rigel Castle–but beyond the imposed boundaries of the game. Hence the “out-of-bounds”.

If you’re interested in seeing these in-game locations from an entirely different perspective, you’re welcome to take a gander!

For some of the later videos, I’ve even swapped the lead character to shake things up. Like Emperor Rudolf featured in the picture above.
