Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes: The Lions of Faerghus

Today Nintendo graced us with a new trailer for the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Showing off the Blue Lions in full, with all of their new designs.

This basically soft confirms that, at the very least, the main three houses will have all of their students playable. Which there were some worries that this would not be the case.

After Dimitri and Dedue show their stuff one more time, we get into the new content.

Mercedes who we’ve seen in screenshots before, is seen casting various light magic raining literal beams of destruction upon her foes.

Next up is Ashe who shows off a more grounded archer moveset, which we’d seen bits of from Claude. But now we get to see the true mobility of archers even without a wyvern.

Koei Tecmo in several of the most recent Warriors games have made archer movesets incredibly overpowered and Three Hopes seems to not be an exception to that recent trend.

Three Hopes: Character & Class Profiles from Twitter

Following the release of the Mysterious Mercenary trailer for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, the official Japanese Twitter account has been regularly tweeting commentary for the trailer.

Although most of the information is pretty straightforward and self-explanatory, there are a few interesting nuggets. Namely, they’ve recently shared profiles for some of the already shown characters and classes. (For the record, some of this info was already shared by Famitsu.)

Below are translations of those tweets.

Regarding the class profiles, the second half is likely referring to each character’s personal abilities. Judging by the information from Famitsu.

Also, we’ve repeated the protagonist’s and Arval’s profiles from a previous article, for convenience.

Protagonist (default name Shez)

VA: Tasuku Hatanaka & Miyu Tomita
A solitary mercenary. They sought to become a famed swordfighter, but faced Jeralt’s Mercenaries on a mission and was felled by the Ashen Demon. While training to seek revenge, they met the Officer’s Academy students in the woods.

Protagonist x Fleugel

Here are some action scenes featuring the protagonist’s exclusive class. Characterised by its nimble swordplay while dual wielding swords. The protagonist also has other hidden powers. Please look out for more details in the future.

Three Hopes: New Tidbits from Famitsu (5th May Issue)

Before I begin, happy 32nd anniversary to Fire Emblem!

Through Famitsu we have some additional information on the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. Their latest issue covers the recent “Mysterious Mercenary” trailer, but offers extra insight.

BlackKite on Twitter has summed up the information, I will be piggybacking off his looks into the new content and giving my own thoughts.

Note: Most of the screenshots from Famitsu’s article are taken from the trailer. So we’ve done the same.

We begin with classes; each character in the game will have preferred classes and some will be exclusive to those characters. Shez, our new avatar will be the only character able to be a Fleugel (the dual wielding class).

Three Hopes: Analysis of the “Mysterious Mercenary” Trailer

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes arrives in 2 month’s time, give or take. Ahead of its release, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo shared a 2nd trailer, which offers new insight on the mysterious purple haired character featured in the key artwork.

Lo and behind, they pulled a fast one on us! Previously thought to be a potential rival and/or antagonist, this character–Shez–is actually the protagonist of the game! Meanwhile, Byleth, only referred to as the “Ashen Demon” (his/her title from Three Houses) is the antagonist (so far).

As promised, I’ll be providing an analysis of the trailer. That said, our resident Warriors expert is currently busy and I’m not very familiar with Warriors gameplay, so I won’t be able to comment much about that.

Firstly, let’s quickly go through what we know about the protagonist, Shez.

In case you missed it, here’s their bio (from here):

A solitary mercenary. They sought to become a famed swordsman, but faced Jeralt’s Mercenaries during a fateful mission. They were defeated by the Ashen Demon. While training to seek revenge for their defeat, they met the Officer’s Academy students in the woods.

Like Byleth in Three Houses, you can choose to play as male or female Shez. As we’ve previously seen, Shez dual wields swords, including that suspicious silver relic-like weapon.

We don’t know the name of their sword, but do know their apparent starting class: Fluegel. The meaning of this seems to be “wing” in German, but I doubt there’s too much significance, because FE likes to borrow fancy names all the time.
