Similar to previous games, characters can equip skills, which provide various beneficial effects during battle.
There are three types of skills in Fire Emblem Engage:
- Personal Skill: Similar to Fates and Three Houses, all characters have a skill related to their personality. This skill (probably) cannot be removed.
- Class Skill: When a character reaches Level 5 in an Advanced class, they will gain that class’s unique skill. It seems you can freely equip class skills. Only one class skill can be equipped.
- Inheritable Skills: After reaching Bond Level 5 with an Emblem, characters can spend SP (earned from fighting with Emblems) to inherit skills from that Emblem. Up to two inheritable skills can be equipped.
In addition, characters will gain the skills of their currently equipped Emblem. These are divided into three types:
- Sync Skill: Usable by simply equipping the Emblem. Some(?) Sync Skills can be inherited.
- Engage Skill: Usable only after Engaging with the Emblem.
- Engage Attack: A powerful technique usable only after Engaging with the Emblem. Can be used once per Engage.
