I also wonder why on earth she even became sort of an apostle to Naga, from the earlier games this doesn't make sense to me, after all, she was forced to sleep by Gotoh and Naga, she had nightmares which occasionally woke her up and the only one looking after her and was there for her was Bantu, and she was still forced to sleep against her will before Bantu ran away with her to some village, where she was for probably about 10 years with Bantu, since Xane tells us she has the memories of 10 years, after which she is taken by Gharnef and fights along Marth, after the war she goes with Bantu back to the village after which Gotoh comes and takes her away, but Bantu isn't coming with them this time (most likely considered a traitor or something for taking Tiki away) and forcing her back to sleep, this time without anyone to comfort her during her nightmares, and possibly to be killed by Gotoh or Naga if the seal isn't restored to ensure that she won't go mad, and it's hinted at that she is aware of this and that she most likely hates Gotoh and Naga. Sorry for that rant, but it just annoys me, since Bantu is alive in awakening, they could have her traveling with him and they could both join for all I care, and for the servants of Naga, you could use Gotoh, the most devoted follower of Naga, and Xane, who, if you have to have someone who looks like Tiki to get people to join their cause with Naga, they have Xane, who could impersonate her. And this is just one thing out of many in the story that annoys me. Also, where is Khadein? the one place they have a school of magic (with the exception of in awakening long since gone Pales) and where they produce tomes and staves and other magic junk?

Serious question, how do I post pictures here on Serenes off of my computer? in that they are not on the internet and that they won't just turn extremely tiny as in if I use the "attach file?

The thing is, the old fe games have had at least decent writing most of the time, and I probably wouldn't be that annoyed with it if it wasn't a sequel, but a lot of things that are references to e.g Marths games, they got wrong or could have done a lot better, a lot of things that I wonder why we never see, like Khadein, the one place which produces magic. And on topic, yeah, I think this game could have dealt with death a lot better, and a lot of the characters does seem out of character, like Lissa and Ricken who are just kids, and it's not like they haven't done this before, taken someone who doesn't know the world well or anything about war, like Eirika and Elincia.

And about avatar, in that case I would have to o strictly by the character Robin, since the avatar doesen't nececarily have to even be a magical class, I just decided to leave him out because a lot of people probably only see their own versions of the avatar and not the character Robin.

I tried to think of the strongest mages lore wise from the different games, like why Gotoh is the only one from Marths games, is because I doubt anyone could actually outshine if were going by only lore and not stats. Yeah I was thinking about mainly playable characters.

Who do you think is the greatest spell-slinger in fire emblem? I'm not talking stat-wise, but according to their worlds individual worlds and canons. Who do you think is the most intellectual and capable of these mages? If you think I've missed someone? just say it in your comment cause I just took some that came to my mind as great wizards in the different stories and might have missed someone. Edit: added Pent, and the reason all mages aren't here is cause I tried to think of those who are possibly among the stronger ones in lore. Edit: added Julia

Are you talking about awakening when you talk about over the top animations bacause I don't see it, while it definetely has a lot less realistic aspects to it, like the archers jumping like Mario while fireing their bow and the knights making a jump while trusting the spear into their enemy, but compared to a lot of the older titles it was pretty toned down. I get what they where doing with Shadow Dragon, trying to make it seem more down to earth, or as down to earth as a merc making a front flip with a 30 kg sword gets. But again, things like many of the criticals in the gba games, like the swordmasters and heroes, or in the tellius duology a lot of the skills, while both from RD, colossus and impale where over the top, even deadeye for the snipers. With awakenings animations, while smoth, for me personaly, the only real thing I can say is "eh", if they wanted to make it over the top, they should have just gone all out. While there are several I do like, RD is the one that gets my vote, while the animations were a little stiff, they never bothered me, and the arth just looks great, and I don't know how many there are here who thinks this, but I also really like the OA to Shadow Dragon, some even more than to new mystery. And a lot of the older games have their charm too.

My main problem with the tanguel is that, yes they probably were a throwback to the laguz, and Panne most likely based a bit of Lethe with their hatred towards humans, the problem comes with that, with Lethe, and the laguz in general, we saw the persecuation and misstreatment of them, even in our own army with units like Jill and Shinon. Panne on the other hand, this comes back to awakening problem of explaining nothing, we are only told how badly the tanguel are treated, but we never se it, a lot of the plaer units are inclusiv toward her, and it is almost painfull to watch when Panne pretty much screams "racist" on pretty mch all of them, and, again, we never see the predjudice, like in PoR. And there is really no reson for them to exist in the story. Edit: They also missed a great opportunity to show the predjudice against the tanguel in the chapter where you recruit Yarne, by showing in the intro of the map some sort of dialog between Yarne and the soldiers he is fighting with, but nope, one more missed opporunity in the writting. Also these: And a lot of the problems I have with Awakening comes down to them explaining close to nothing, tries to make throwbacks, but forget why it worked in the previous games, tries to make throwbacks and tie the story in a way that doesen't make sense. My point is, awakening didn't need to be a sequel, and why write a story in a world when you fail to fallow the story and lore of that world so far.
