  1. Wow, you really should take your own advice. Please take your ego trip elsewhere, I'm done. Feel like you've "won" if you like, I'm pretty sure by this point that your arrogance has no bounds.
  2. And I think your opinions are also pretty silly (wise beyond her years? Are you kidding me? Is that your fancy pants way of saying older?), and you spend way too much time trying to score points with your snide comments. Just to pre-empt you, I have been ignoring your attempts at irony and sarcasm because I find them trite, purposefully argumentative and pointless. I mean, really, a spelling mistake is the same as an opinion on a name, and thus counts as irony? Right. Your turn to look up the correct usage of words now. For the last time, my correction of her name was not me being picky, it was me making a light jab at her NoA name because I'm not fond of it. I only said that because I thought YOU were being picky in the first place by complaining about a relatively small adjustment to her design (frankly, if she still looked older she wouldn't really fit well with Marth looking younger, would she?). As for the weeaboo stuff, you were missing my point. Considering other people would think of you as a weeaboo just for playing Fire Emblem, and of course you don't care about that, then why should I give a damn that you think I'm a weeaboo just because I prefer Sheeda or Shiida over the stupid NoA name? In both cases, its completely incorrect usage of the word, especially given that I'm in Europe where we don't use that name at all. Get my point now? Can I finally stop defending myself now, please? Oy... yeah, lets call this conversation over. We've both had our last word like fifty times now... Back on the topic in question... can anyone check if the My Unit characters named in the dialogue boxes of the new screenshots, and if so, is the guy still called Chris? I get the feeling that there's an option to skip the customisation completely and go with one of the default two.
  3. To an extent you're right, I don't know what IS definitely wanted her name to be, but I'm going to take a guess that it was simply Sheeda. Whenever her name has been written in English, it was Sheeda, or Shiida (or Sheida in the anime if you wanna get technical). It was even Shiida in Brawl. I don't think its well known by many how much creative liberty NoA takes with naming these days. NoA is pretty much out of step with the rest of the world when it comes to the names of things in various games at the moment, from the awful new names that the karts and bikes in Mario Kart Wii got (seriously, look up the differences) to some of the changes to names in Shadow Dragon and Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Oddly enough, this has only been a recent thing. Up until a couple of years ago, NoA just translated things as it always has done everywhere. Now it likes to make up its own names for things, and we end up essentially with two English versions of a game. I'm not saying that all the names in the European version are better, because they're not, but the majority seem to be.
  4. WHAT YOU MEAN MARS RIGHT? Joke. Seriously though, I'm a bit sad his battle sprite looks the same... his sword still fails to actually look like it's impaling his foes.
  5. I'm well aware that Japanese has no set translations, but anyone with any experience of the language knows that the whole point is to translate the intention, not to translate 100% accurately, because literal Japanese translations make very little sense. This is the same for names, especially when they're intending to write western style names. I would consider Caeda to be a poor translation, missing the intended name, while Caesar would be fine. Nintendo of America does not always translate things well. Caeda is one occasion where the translation is pretty meh and they should of left it alone, in my (and other's) opinion. Its not really an issue of accuracy. WEEABOO TIME OVER. And Interceptor, I know what it means, but frankly, the very fact that you play Fire Emblem makes you a weeaboo in most other people's eyes. You can deny your level of weeabooality all you like but you're tarnished, just like the rest of us. JOIN US. Nice to see you stooping to picking apart piddling spelling mistakes though, I honestly didn't think I'd argued my point enough to get to that response already. Anyway, enough of that, I just think you're really being overly picky if you suddenly think she looks goofy. And you can disregard the series' past all you like, doesn't get rid of it. Cynthia, I think you're overreacting just a tad, I was only poking at him for doing it anyway, I was hardly making a big deal of it until people started throwing weeaboo at me. Man, this fandom has some self-awareness issues if weeaboo is a common insult.
  6. Calm down, Team America. Her name is Shiida or Sheeda everywhere else, its nothing to do with being a weeaboo. Although I've got some shocking news for you... you play Fire Emblem. You're a weeaboo. And she doesn't look like a goofball, you're overreacting rediculously. She just no longer looks like she's flirting with every person she's talking to. She looks like SHE ALWAYS HAS DONE. If anything she looks less of a goofball than she used to still.
  7. Indeed! I think the fact that Chris can talk is the thing that pleases me most. Though I'm very happy Marth doesn't have so much pudge. And I don't think we can rule out supports yet. The return of base conversations would be enough for me though, I didn't miss the supports TOO much from Radiant Dawn, thanks to those making up for it.
  8. Made it better. And its Sheeda. Yeah, um... Fire Emblem kind of IS character driven? Its an RPG. It's not a Mario game. It's not even Advance Wars, which could still be considered character driven in some respects. I always find it weird how people who have such loathing for anime and anime traits (oh no, Masamune faces!) and character designs can even get interested in Fire Emblem in the FIRST PLACE. Honestly. Its about as anime a series as you can get. That said, the new character is clearly a clutzy sort and is probably there to represent novice players who don't know what to do. Enough of all that, time for some new screenshots! I figure I could of made a new topic for these, but I'll put them here for now. A little disappointed to see that the battle animations are largely the same, although the background looks less washed out now. I just hope the animations themselves are a bit more flashy, like the jump from Path of Radiance to Radiant Dawn.
  9. Nevermind the lack of female Mercenaries, I want a male Pegasus Knight. Come on. This series has some of the girliest boys ever and none of them ride Pegasus? Not even Lucius?
  10. Wait, they were? Like, completely removed? I thought you just had to get the correct supports...
  11. Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are pretty much the only Fire Emblem games with an accurate sense of scale, anyway. This did dilute the use of terrain however.
  12. Thanks guys, I was being lazy. There was always a slightly more static feel to those portraits though. And I never liked Marth's portrait much. His face has an odd shape... its at a weird angle. I really hope they fix that and make his portrait look a fair bit different.
  13. Someone remind me, because I'm too lazy to go check, do the portraits blink during conversations in Shadow Dragon? I know they started doing that in Blazing Sword and pretty sure the Radiance games had it, but I can't remember if Shadow Dragon went with the older, static look or not. I suspect not, but... I mean, that was always the biggest visual difference between Fuuin no Tsurugi and Blazing Sword. Such a small thing really made a difference too.
  14. I never said it was hard. But I simply don't have the time to burn.
  15. Not meaning to be devil's advocate for the sake of it, but given that you haven't played it, along with many other Fire Emblem fans, isn't this effectively a whole new game? Okay, so we're used to the characters and settings, but its a direct sequel, so that was always going to be the case. Radiant Dawn was extremely different from Path of Radiance, and while I don't think Monshou no Nazo ever strays that far from the previous game, it still offers quite a lot more than Shadow Dragon. A hell of a lot more text, at the very least.
